Is the gloss varnish absolutely necessary? I just finished the satin varnish coat and I’m waiting until tomorrow to work on the top of the deck. I experienced some cracking where I had used black pasco over white enamel spray paint, so I wanted to seal that pasco asap after I cleaned up the lines. Any advice moving forward? I’m making a board that will be ridden but plan to make more in the future. I can’t wait to work on the top and apply grip tape but I’m worried about the painting on the bottom being pressed against a table or soft material. @@Sf4life1216 it’s not necessary, It’s just the finish I wanted ….I will say it will be slightly more durable with a harder varnish but it doesn’t have to be gloss, you can get matte ones too, but being able to brush on something else, gives it a slightly thicker barrier. But only slightly. Both methods won’t last so if you’re happy as is, I’d say you can leave it. Also there won’t be any issue when your applying the grip tape, you can lean it on a folded towel or something, but with the spray it’s all dry and sealed in👌 And yes the posca can crack in thicker areas sometimes I usually go over it twice or hand paint larger black areas… I hope that makes sense and helps!! 🙏🙏🙏
@@NicMac thank you so much! I found that I did need to use a brush at one point. I only had white spray paint, so I sprayed it into a jar to paint with 🤣 I appreciate the advice and all of your work! I’ve been documenting the process, at some point I’d love to post it somewhere! I can’t wait to work on it today!
