Stephanie your picture is so pretty and vibrant with Autumn colors. I don't have any oil pastels, but they look like they would be lots of fun to play with. Based on your swatching of this set, the colors are quite lovely.

Thank you very much, Cheryl! Oil Pastels are growing on me! I was kind of scared of them at first. Lol Oil Pastels are fun, but as this is my second time creating something with them...I still have a lot to learn! ;D These are a great set to start with, but I haven't tried other budget sets yet other than Paul Rubens. The only oil pastels I would not purchase again myself are the Pentel oil pastels. Omg, they stink so bad and I haven't figured out a paper to enjoy them yet. Thanks so much for the lovely comment!

@@TheGypsyChic1 You're welcome and thanks for the heads up on the Pentel oil pastels. I will definitely stay away from the stinky pastels, lol! Do the oil pastels dry to a hard finish, that won't smear once they're dried? Or do you have to treat the picture with a fixative like with soft pastels, so they won't smear? I'm sorry for all the questions, but I've never used them before and I wouldn't know what to do after using them.

You are welcome! Yeah, the Pentel oil pastels are super cheap, but that is the only pro I can find so far. The smell is not worth it to me. Lol No, sadly that is the downside of oil pastels. They will harden a bit, but never dry all the way and will smear. Yes, just like soft pastels you do have to spray with a fixative, or put it under glass if you frame it. I use vellum between my finished oil pastel pieces, just like I do with soft pastels in a sketchbook. I'm always happy to help if I can. Just leave a new comment, to make sure I see it. I don't always see the follow up comments.

Thanks for another great video!! My favorites are Paul Rubens, Sennelier and van gogh oil pastels. What a beautiful painting! 👍😍 There was a stage where your painting looked a lot like an Edvard Munch painting ‐ except yours is pretty and not disturbing!

Thank you so much, Anja!! Oooh, I will have to check out Van Gogh Oil Pastels! Thank you so much!! Oil Pastels are very new to me, lol. This is my second time playing with them (other than like swatching, etc) So, I still have a lot to learn. But, I'm enjoying them very much. Haha, I will have to check out that artist. I'm glad when I finished my artwork wasn't disturbing, I always have to push past the ugly phase! ;D Thank you very much for the sweet comment!

@@TheGypsyChic1 your welcome 😊 I love your channel ❤️🙏 Van Gogh pastels are quite hard and great as a first layer under Paul Rubens and sennelier. I brake off small pieces and lay them down on the side and paint that way with the Van Goghs plus I believe they are actually light fast. Yes the ugly stage of paintings.... Is something I know very well myself too ha ha 😂😅
