@@dropndeal It’s been 3 years and all is fine. We understand over time bleed through may gradually happen. Just like our white kitchen walls, the white cabinets over time will dull and will at some point start to wear. When that happens we will make a choice to repaint them (which should be much easier than the first time around) or completely reface them. No matter what type of paint you use you will need to paint over them at some point. Nothing is like a factory finish. But you are correct that oil based will give less bleed through. Not recommended. The contant scuffing of taking things out and putting them back in (plates, glasses, spices etc) will chip even the best paint. Then you have paint chips to clean off your dishes before using them.

For years I thought it was a crime to paint over wooden cabinets, so glad I painted over my wooden cabinets after 3 years of living in the house. Doesn’t look like my grandmothers house anymore!

Unpainted cabinets look outdated. They remind me of my childhood home that was built 30 years ago, and of wood paneling from the 70s. The only place where they don’t look dated is log cabins and other similar buildings.
