Missed your commentaries a lot! Definetely relates about the "putting weird constrains on ourselves" part, I struggle a lot with it lately with my art and feels good to know I'm not alone, def helps! And as always, love seeing your technical AND thought process, really interesting, thank you !! and LOVE this piece, color palette and ambiance are so so cool! So happy you're back, I hope you're having fun with your personnal projects lately!! Can't wait to see what's next for you ✨

Love it. The pose kind of reminds me of Ned Stark holding up Ice from the show. Not similar pose, but how he respectfully and maybe mournfully holds his symbol of power and might in a dear way. Great stuff. :)

It's very beautiful to hear the commentary of someone you admire and find out that they have the same problems you end up squashing your forehead against every time, but also hear their solution to them, along with the good purposes for improving and getting better at challenges along the way. This is a very beautiful work, and I'm so glad there was a chance to hear you talk about the process! Thanks!

Thank you Astri! this little "art talk/tips" while you breakdown your art making process really help me (..uhm, maybe us) a lot! my favourite tips is the (subtle) hue variation, no wonder my monochromatic artworks look too stale and, well, too monochromatic!

Astri! So nice to see you around here! I loved the piece, and I loved the message of just having fun with art! Lately I've been feeling like my art is going nowehere and I've started to study the basics again and other artists as well, and I have to agree with everything you are feeling! I hope to see you around!!!

This was super informative and a joy to watch! I always look forward to your process videos, and its always a good reminder that even skilled artists such as yourself are always learning, and at times, struggling with composition and light and anatomy like the rest of us plebians 😂😂💪🏻 amazing work!

One of my favourite pieces from you so far, also appreciate the commentary so much I’m always learning a ton of them! I went trough your old videos and considered joining your patreon to learn that you‘ve put it on a hiatus and been wondering if new people are still welcome to join the discord after all this time?

Thank you so much for this, it really helped me understand more about composition and color. Your videos are really helping me improve so much I'm just a first year art student but one day I hope I will be good like you! Do you maybe have a discord server or something like that where you share more about your process?

I can totally relate with the struggle of trying to create art for ourselves and instead being distracted by what we think the cool artists do. It's sad because if it is right that we should always aim to improve our technique, the skills we obtain should only serve the purpose of better comunicating our vision and make ourselves happy while we create something we love and are passionate about, and not the other way around! I feel this topic a lot and i'm trying to repeat myself why i started drawing in the first place, what i wanted to comunicate and that doing art for myself should feel like a treat, a cuddle, a not an obligation and a struggle.

Also, I'm happy to see your personal works again! I started following you at the beginning of my art journey and I always admired you, and your vision. Your art is so recognizable and I love your color choice and the delicacy of your painting style. I felt you were similar to me both in age and artistic preferences and your work were in my inspo folder most of the time!

Thank you for the video. I always enjoy your process. You may talked about it in the past videos, but I’d like to ask you a question on how to get “big names” contacts as a freelancer? Does it boost your career?
@Astri_Lohne
@Astri_Lohne 11 месяцев назад
Glad you enjoyed it! Hmm, having big names on your client list is definitely very helpful. It gives you a sense of legitimacy - especially if you're early in your career - that smaller names just won't provide you with. My advice would be to put out work that's a similar style and on the level of the people you'd want to work for. Also, network! Shooting other artists who work there a message to introduce yourself, or reaching out to their outsource managers / recruiters could very well help you get work from them (provided you can back up your message with a good body of work). Never be afraid to ask if someone is looking for freelancers, you never know!

I don't know if you care, but just a small note, the perspective on the sword is wrong. The hilt and the blade are misaligned so although from the way the hilt is positioned the edge would be resting on her forehead, but it seems that it was intended for the spine (fuller) of the blade to be resting since one side of the blade seems closer than the other, otherwise, the fuller would be flat , so it's kinda hard to understand what you intended. But maybe you were just going for the character and atmosphere and that doesn't really bother you.
