Why are you NOT selling these to your viewers for like $25 each, or whatever is appropriate (I have no idea)? Guarantee people WILL buy them. They want to support you, and your work is nice!

@@Mickmakesstuff411 But don't sell the originals for $25. I'm a professional illustrator and I think that's way too low. Maybe prints at $25. Your originals deserve much higher prices.

@@dariaestudio Great point, I'm sure. I have NO IDEA what price... I was just suggesting to sell them... your audience is your market and the paintings are cool. They may be worth much more.

“I tend to start doing things and figure out how to do them, right later on” LOVE THIS !!! Also people have said this, but I will say it again and again you have an amazing voice. You should be doing audiobooks if you haven’t thought of that yet which I’m sure you have and you should do your own rendition of. Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke - I’m telling you I hear your voice in that book and your story as well as he was questioning his poetry but that was his heart just like you with your art and your inspirations for working with your hands!!

Hi Mick :) Sorry to hear about your situation. A bit of a strange youtube comment, but I think the innate appreciation of beauty and the world that comes to us through art and music is something we all have, but many of us have buried it away deep somewhere and forgotten about. I find myself in a situation with this little fire somewhere inside of me is buried somewhere, and I happen to be looking for it right now. The few videos you have uploaded on here have helped me to take a step back from my own metaphorical broken down cars and take a moment to get to know this passion that I lost somewhere a little better. Thanks

Mick, I have been an artist over 30 years, so understand how good it is to make a page a day of sketching. Having seen you doing this when you started this book of detailed watercolours had me buy the same book and 2 kinds of brush series, one like yours and one of fine chisel brushes. I have done 7 pages in 5 days. Artists must keep their hand eye skills up, and a daily practice is great. I am sorry that you have little food. It is amazing how little the body needs to run itself. I eat carnivore only, which is only animal products and high fat, and fast daily. I really appreciate your style and voice 😊 Am in Australia, btw 🇦🇺

Love this, Mickey. I say when you're up and running, start with painting and printing little blank inside note cards w envelope. Like 8 to a pack. Just print on regular cardstock. I know i buy these whenever i see interesting art cards. They're great for Thank You cards. Or just a quick note to a friend or family. Small like the size of Thank You cards from Hallmark, etc. A witty quote inside would add a little treaure or glimmer of hope for anyone sending or receiving them. All good things in all good time. All my best in getting a new car up there. I know there are many of us who would LOVE to help you out with a fund for it, or some food, etc. To hell with defeating the purpose of doing it all on your own...you ARE doing it all on your own. This is your work. We are entertained by you and your content. You have EARNED full respect of so many people, and we would like to show our appreciation for you being in our lives, encouraging us. Letting us realize that things dont have to be perfect. That imperfection brings out the character in art, people, life, etc. I love your flowing, free form style of painting. Color choice is perfect for note cards... or use same basic design but change up the colors and offer 2 of ea color palette in an 8 pack. So 1 design with 4 different color combi ations, x 2 ea Id pay $18+ a pack. If you could keep shipping at minimum youd get more orders. Many ways to earn from your talent and natural way of being YOU. And you're enough and much more. Peace and blessings, Cheryl🥰❤️✌️

I like the idea of combinatory play. If you ever do learn an instrument, you might find it's nice to pick up a guitar and do something different after painting for a chunk of time. You probably already know what I mean as a multi passionate artist. Thank you for giving me something beautiful to watch at the end of my work day. I love the way you paint.

After your first painting video I got really inspired and I finnally got the strengh to create again. For the past two weeks I've been drawing and printing, rediscovering the love I have for screenprinting along the way. I don't have enough paper to keep printing for long but once my current project is finished I think I'll finally get the courage for finalizing my website and put my prints on there to sell :) Thank you for your videos ! And good luck in the Alaskan winter.

I totally agree, I've always thought it a little weird that people give artists so much praise and they always say things like "I could never do that." None of us just picked up a pencil and drew the most fabulous tree ever before deciding to learn art. Most of us were drawing stickmen and stick trees with lumps on top. So if I could do it, why couldn't you?

So it's been a lot lately and it's really taking a toll on my mental health. Making me feel unmotivated to do art as well. It's nice to see I'm not alone in this situation as shitty as it is for you. I wouldn't have even gotten an outline done on any of those before I decided I didn't like it and gave up. I just can't draw or paint well at all. I have found success with casting pewter in silicone molds on the stove top though. I currently have 15 cross earrings sitting on the table that I'm feeling guilty about not finishing because I don't want to sit here with a file and sandpaper for four hours.

Just curious, as you do these works, can you discern your skill level changing? Strange, the style reminds me of Subnautica; have you seen that game? One of my favourites. Re income, I'm sure it's been said before, you could easily sell your paintings, but I know the conflict that can induce. My late Mum was an avid painter, but she couldn't initially wrap her head round the idea of being paid for something she'd done, why it would have merit to others, not until eventually a friend who ran a gallery persuaded her to show a couple of works and of course they easily sold. The lady who ran the gallery told me that finally, with the $$$ in her hand, my Mum understood: what she could do was valued by others who were happy to pay to have something of beauty they could not create themselves, often far more than she would have believed. I had a similar conversation with my gf about her baking, just how much she could sell them for given their quality (I once held a yard sale and easily sold some of her choccy traybake chunks for the equivalent of $2 each, which blew her mind). One thing I'm sure of, my Mum would have loved to watch your videos. I should imagine there are many who would love to "help out" by sending you various items, painting supplies, funds, etc., but given your stated desire for independence and making your own way, how do you balance that with the inevitable altruism of others? I expect it's a tricky problem, because for many it's the one way in which they probably feel they can sufficiently express how much regard they have for what you do and the way you express your thoughts about things, but taken to its extreme, especially when a channel becomes sufficiently followed, such generosity can end up defeating the point of what you're doing. Part of it is probably a strong vicarious aspect to why people like your videos. With a global audience, too many adoring fans can ruin the very thing they love. Anyway, if you do get really stuck for funds, consider selling your paintings, even if that's just via ebay to begin with, or Etsy, eBid, etc. In the end, better that than having to give up on the whole cabin living idea. Hey, have you seen that video on YT about the ring made from a 4.5 billion year old meteorite? The video ID is, 'vff68_q-beg' (minus the quotes). I'd include a link, but YT doesn't like posted links. Other options for income: wood carving or making things from cut down trees such as chopping boards, placemats, coasters, etc. I spent three hours in the rain yesterday cutting pieces from a storm-felled tree for just this purpose; it'll be a year or two until I can use them of course, but this year I'll be able to make such items from part of a holly tree I rescued after a storm back in 2022. Cut to shape, sanded, varnished, etc., or in the case of chopping boards, treated with a food grade oil or somesuch. You could even do paintings on them which would then be sealed in place by the varnish (I plan on burning lightning patterns into some of the ones I make, using an old 4500V transformer, the results look awesome). Lastly, FYI I couldn't see a donation link in your video summary or elsewhere. Probably wise to create an About page with that info. Also, consider creating a Subscribestar account so that those who want to donate can do so without having to use Patreon, though I expect a direct PayPal is probably the most efficient.
