Painting the Mechanicum Knight Styrix for the Horus Heresy : Age of Darkness. This tutorial is for House Atrax but the process and techniques can be applied to any Questoris Knight Household for the Horus Heresy or Warhammer 40,000 and will even translate to Adeptus Titanicus or Legions Imperialis titans.

I like how you always reference the Horus Heresy Black Books. The holy texts haha. They had so much lore in them I wish they still sold them considering how much inspiration they provide.

100% the Holy Texts. So rich with lore and reference material. each time i go back to them it makes me a little sad that we don’t have the attention in our campaign books as before.

if i ever do expand beyond heresy- it will 100% be badab war and lamenters will be done. imperial armour vol 9 and 10 are classics. a few guys in my group been talking about doing badab with the new mk6 / indominitus terminators. i would love to do it and play all the campaign missions and make all the really cool characters. many attribute IA9 / IA10 as the prototype for horus heresy -

That looks so good. I love that model. I was torn between the Magaera in the Styrix. I ended up getting the Magaera. I painted it ages ago. It's still one of my favourite models. Mine is not painted in a lore accurate way, but it did win me 2nd place in a painting competition. I love the transfer sheet that you made for it. As usual, your weathering is on point. You have replicated the original artwork perfectly. Thanks for sharing!!

Eventually you’ll need to wash your resin. Edit: glue one side of the cables then apply heat via a hairdryer to bend them where you want them.

thats usually how I do smaller cables, like the ones on the pyroclasts and old FW heavy Weapons. This one was wayyyy tooo thick and needed wayyy to move re shaping. Was a huge paint, and I don't recommend anyone do it.

I sadly cannot sell the transfer sheets because I dont own the IP on the artwork for them. Ill likely do an Instagram giveaway for the extra stock of them.

I always wash my resin. Trust me, you REALLY don't want to discover you needed to do it in the middle of painting. Thanks for the video! :)

@@heresyera Always a can. Never had trouble with Forgeworld resin but I always cleaned it with soapy water, an old toothbrush and a pot of clean water.

Unfortunately I painted that model a while back when it was released. Dont know if I have it in me to do another. I do have Rogal Dorn and a few other primarchs here which need to be built / painted.

Its a design job using adobe illustrator and a vendor who prints them for me. Ill go a little deeper on transfers with this 5th Fellowship of the Thousand Sons video im working on.

I have a vendor that does my printing. I just have to design the sheets in Adobe Illustrator. I measure the GW sheets and models for size reference and then design the sheets and send them off. Usually have them in a few weeks.

Another stuning job, like the rest of your videos. Do you plan to make battle reports in the future? If you want an advice the oil washes works better with satin/gloss varnish, the oils will flow easily into the holes. As it looks like the lacquer you used is the same one you always use to protect the miniatures, I assumed it was matte. In any case, thank you very much for the great videos you are doing. Thank you. Battle reports are in the works. Im working on the format now. Want to make them very cinematic and comprehensive. They will have lots of cut scenes representing key moments in the battles being played and and the larger events of the Siege of Cthonia.

Plastic hardly ever needs cleaning before assembly. It’s also cheaper, for the most part. Resin is a lot more brittle and prone to warping, chipping, and snapping
