Thank heavens I found your RU-vid channel tonight. I’m trying to learn to paint from RU-vid. However most of the artist go very fast you can hardly see how they make the stroke and they were really tell you what brushes they are using. I’ve only seen this first video of yours but I’m hooked. I hope you do a whole bunch more of these because I really need your help. I feel very encouraged by watching your gentle, soothing and calm teaching technique. Since watching Your video I don’t feel intimidated to try to paint.
Thank you so much for watching. I have several other videos as well. The daisy one is very simple. I'm glad you found me too. I'll be doing more. Thanks again for watching. Take care and stay well.
April, it is so good to see you again, you are one of my favorite teachers ever. I flew to California for a certification class I think in 2008 and you were a wonderful teacher. It was so nice to meet you and have first hand instruction. Thank you for your wonderful art and beautiful way of teaching.
Your work is amazing, I’m going to start at the beginning and work my way through all your tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with others 💖

Hi April, do you have an alternitive to folkArt floating medium, I cant get this in the UK and dont know what an alternative i should be using. I love you paintings and cant wait to give it a try.
Hello Diane, you can use a little bit of water with your paints and that will give you the transparent leaves. Thank you for watching. Let me know if you have any questions.
I have a couple of videos on roses. The easiest one is the one I paint a rose on fabric. You can paint it the same way on any surface you wish to paint one. Thank you for watching.
Please help :( I have the same paints as you do, but your flowers look opaque. My petals look translucent, so you can see the layers underneath and it looks awful (I didn't use floating medium). What am I doing wrong?
The petals should look opaque which means not transparent. Make sure to fill in the shape of the flower before adding the petals which is step 1. If you are using Americana acylic paints, the pigments tend to separate in the bottle, so make sure you shake the bottle well so the paint comes out creamy, not watery. Make sure there's no water in brush. Dry it very well before picking up the paint. Hope that helps. Let me know how you do. Thaks for watching.
You can use the same paints and brushes when painting on fabric. Just use a little water instead of the floating medium. Make sure to heat set it with an iron to make it permanent. Thank you for watching.
I used it at the beginning to fill in the shape for the petals. Having it a little transparent, will allow the yellow petals to stand out. As you paint the petals, the brush will pick up some of the burnt sienna and create a deeper shade of yellow which will make the second layer of petals to be brighter. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching.
