Leeroy white Phantom cannot one hand the Grant however the damage he does with the Grant one handed is absurdly high. At least in og Dark Souls. I remember summoning him and he killed a Bonewheel. The damage was over 2k and one handed. I cried a little because his faith is too dang high if he could muster up that damage.
only catacombs leeroy. this game has a habit of making npcs "level" alongside you, like how solaire fatrolls against gargoyles but midrolls against ornstein and smough, catacombs leeroy can't one hand grant, but tomb of giants leeroy can
@@wowwhatacleverandoriginaln9416 00:43 00:58 1:33 And at 1:48 he literally killed him while starting to heal. 2:30 Tarkus hit him 4 times in a row while hes healing. 5:28 I guess those are enough.
Nice set of matches overall. Leeroy's massive burst damage and healing/regeneration gave him a slight edge in both durability and raw power, but this was ultimately counterbalanced by his slower and less aggressive AI, as well as his scripted tendency to heal every time he got under 50% hp. In contrast, Tarkus's more aggressive AI gave him the advantage in DPS, which when combined with Leeroy's previously mentioned skittishness at sub 50%, evened things out in the Lord of Iron's favor, despite his lack of healing. A most enjoyable spectacle to see these two monsters fight.
Agreed with Leeroy being generally less intelligent in terms of A.I compared to Tarkus , but he's actually technically more powerful in terms of raw power , what with Wrath of the Gods and Grant doing massive magic damage that can cleave through Tarkus' Greatshield's defenses like butter . He has every edge in the fight but he just doesn't commit to being offensive .
An interesting matchup. When Leeroy just focuses on attacking Tarkus he does massive damage even when Tarkus' shield is up, but his weakness is his reliance on healing when he's low on HP leaving himself wide open. If he just focused on finishing Tarkus off instead of healing he would have won.
@@ToxicSoul03 the difference is that when Tarkus is blocking, he isn't at much of a disadvantage. When Leeroy heals, he's wide open. So when the AI makes a NPC block in front of an enemy, it's still fine even if they'd be better off fighting more aggressively. On the contrary, if they heal right in front of an enemy, they've just written their death sentence.
@@ToxicSoul03 if tarkus didn't block 50% of the time he would probably die with 2 hits, Leeroy deals massive damage through his shield, without him it would be much worse
And if Tarkus was more aggressive period, he would’ve killed Leeroy super easily by using his superior poise. Didn’t expect Leeroy to do that much damage trough shield though :|
@@ToxicSoul03 actually no, just a general observation. If he had just sloughed through the attacks and healed conservatively rather than healing every time he took damage he'd have won. poise or not, he literally was giving Tarkus a good run. Personally i just don't care for either of these characters, the only man i care for in these games is Solaire the rest can enjoy the Age of Dark.
The biggest issue is the AI thinking that it's a good idea to heal in range of the enemy. It cost Leeroy a few fights. Leeroy is definitely on par with Tarkus, and the final score still shows that.
Can we just talk about the fact that Leeroy technically has enough health and damage to beat Tarkus every time by just trading hits and still ends up losing a lot because he just shield hugs and heals instead of attacking?
Most of you are forgetting that Leroy is a later game npc which means more health to compensate for the players damage output when he invades you in the tomb of giants. Tarkus was made to assist with one boss so in my mind the fact that an early/midgame npc meant to fight a boss could kill an npc meant to fight the player and win is a testament to how badass iron tarkus is
Paladin Leeroy is an odd NPC. From memory, he can be summoned for the Pinwheel fight and is exceptionally strong then, however, he can be found invading later in the tomb of giants, but is significantly weaker - notably, he lacked the ability to use his weapon as effectively as in the Pinwheel fight. Tarkus on the other hand, is the heavyweight champion and has unshakeable poise and can wield his weapons just fine
@@an_ordinary_goose Leeroy's shield mentions that its blessing has all but faded, so here's my guess: Leeroy in Pinwheel is early-pilgrimmage Leeroy, while ToG Leeroy is hollow Leeroy. My theory is that he went into the Catacombs, first undead to do so, and blazed through it no problem. But never picked up the lantern. So he clears Pinwheel, leaves his sign for others, and then goes into ToG. He gets lost, goes Hollow, and his Hollow form is drawn to the light of the pathway you find him on. By the time you're fighting him his power has faded and deteriorated and his blessings have left him. He rushed into the dungeon full tilt and perished.
@@Primalintent You need Humanity to invade though. Also, you find his gear in Nito's boss room, so apparently Leeroy got really far. Perhaps he even invaded because the Way of White's official position is that Nito is an ally of Gwyn and should be protected, and Nito killed Leeroy for his failure to fend off the player?
These matches told a great story, showing all the strengths and weaknesses of both Tarkus and Leeroy, and hinting they may have played around then got serious. There were new developments everywhere, from Tarkus' speed to Grant's magic damage, and the final round had an amazing revelation. Thanks Bonfire! Also, Solaire truly is an impeccable referee, understanding all the risks and validity of huge attacks.
Now I wanna play this game again. Love the simplicity and world design of this game. Despite not having the newer mechanics or bombast of DS3, it’s still my favorite.
Well this was a surprisingly even match to be honest I was surprised I didn't see Wrath of the Gods from the hammer oh well but this was a very interesting match and I love that our favorite sunbro was kind of the referee there thumbs up mate
i love being able to see leeroy clearly instead of as a red phantom. the blue bit on his shield makes it look like it's supposed to ward off the evil eye.
I love these kinds of battles. Simply because they would never naturally occur and I love seeing the ai fight from time to time. Ever since using the hypno attacks in sly, just can't get enough
Its almost like Leeroy deliberately lost the first few matches to learn Tarkus’s movement pattern, then surprise him and get back a few win with the wraith of God, what a pity that he didn't make it in the last round
A lot of people saying Leeroy lost due to healing too much, but you also have to consider that Tarkus did a pretty bad job at punishing him for those heals. The first two rounds Tarkus could've beat Leeroy during the first exchange of blows but he held back and let Leeroy heal which dragged on the fight, the worst case being round 3 where Tarkus lost due to terrible heal punishing. Rounds 3 and 4 were more even and decisive for both fighters as Tarkus and Leeroy each won a round within a single engagement. Round 1 also ended with both of them straight up trading blows and nearly killing each other. So I'd say they're pretty even, if you take away Leeroy's heals his superior damage output is definitely an advantage, but it's not quite a guarantee against Tarkus.
Would be sick to get lothric knights vs winged knights inside the castle somewhere, you could have the golden winged knights and lothric royal guard as well
