vs. Smough: "This is why Father never instated you as one of his knights." vs. Ornstein: "Your tenacity and determination are exceptional, to say nothing of your strength. Truly, you are worthy of your commendations." vs Gwyn: "Accursed, pitiful creature. All of father's might and fortitude, yet none of his cunning. As much a waste as mercy." vs. Artorius: "D-did my boss music just change?"
Well, Gwyndolin is the very definition of a glass cannon, and his boss arena is designed to take full advantage of that fact: you have no choice but to come straight for him down the corridor, so the only saving grace you'd have is if you're extremely fast or if you can dodge the projectiles (which NPC AI clearly can't do in this context).
Absolute glass canon 💯 Gwyndolin's big magic attack, with the multiple "bolts" deals over 2100 DMG to Smough phase 2! Soo Lol, Gwyndolin would one shot himself 😅✌️
Gwyn had the win, but at the last second when Gwyndolin started to teleport away, he decided just to stand still and not get the 2 free hits he got the first time around. Clearly he had second thoughts about killing his own child because that win was served up to him on a silver platter and he declined it
Yeah, that's quite terrifying to see. If we think about it, the four kings's arena are The Abyss, and thus giving him an advantage because we "can't clearly see things". We didn't even notice how he moves like a freakin romanian when they see a wallet down the road.
This is definitely one of the funnier boss vs boss videos. Capra Demon: Alright, this'll be easy, I just gotta smash this little twink, and- Gwendolyn: *teleports* CD: ... oh fuck this, I ain't running all that way. Gargoyle (and probably Taurus Demon) looked like they'd be fast enough, they just didn't have the health to back it up. Watching Smough waddle down the hallway was funny to me, in a way that made Super Smough even funnier. Ornstein zooming along is a lot sillier looking from behind. Kinda surprised Quaelag even got a hit in. Gwyn slowly walking until he got hit with a ranged attack, then suddenly booking it made me chuckle out loud. Like he decided to suddenly take this seriously. It's kinda weird how perfectly Iron Golem fits in this hallway. He doesn't really clip through the walls, and the ceiling looks like it's a reasonable distance from his head. I dunno, just a random thought I had. I wonder if there are any non-boss enemies that could beat Gwendolyn. Or at least get a couple hits in. Or, hell, have an aggro range big enough to even see him after he teleports. I doubt it, maybe some ranged one could get a couple initial hits in, or a skeleton wheel with a bunch of health.
Just realized I misspelled Gwyndolin twice, and I can't fix it without losing the heart. fug. While I'm here again, I'll just say: four kings sliding along also looked ridiculous. Additionally, Sanctuary Guardian swooping right past Gwyndonlin, only for Gwyndolin to teleport again like nothing happened, followed by SG turning *all the way around* to get Gwyndolin ("where'd he go??!?"), feels like a comedy bit.
And this why before Dark Souls 3, Gwyndolin was the King of the Gods, Manus and Artorias are simply to much for almost every boss. Awesome video, as always
That was Aldritch, he consumed Gwendolyn as he was ill, plus he had a bow similar to how Gwendolyn's worked, an had lifehunt or watever Priscilla had surely Gwendolyn wouldn't have used lifehunt, his sorcery appears purple but that might just be asthetic purposes
@@elielizondo9369 what are you saying? Gwyndolin became the King of the Gods until he fell ill (or poisoned by Sullivan) and then Aldrich started to devour him, but he reigned as king for a long time before that
@@Lord_Chaos000 in ds1 there was few gods, I mean hell gwyn didn't even know his son existed, do u have anything to prove ur point, cuz I only know of Gwendolyn for being a boss that gives souls...or something that just gives free souls
@@elielizondo9369 The original japanese description of the soul of Sulyvahn is a bit different and reads: "It is said that Pontiff Sulyvahn of Irithyll confined the Chief God (主神/shushin) of the former royal family to the abandoned church and ultimately offered him to the God-Eater" so yeah Gwyndolin was the king of the other gods before he was imprisoned by Sulyvahn and then devoured by Aldrich. The word shushin literally means main god/chief god/king of the gods and it was used to describe allfather Lloyd as well, in japanese he is always called 主神ロイド, chief god Lloyd. After Gwyn linked the fire and the firstborn was exiled Lloyd became king of the gods and then Gwyndolin became king as well
@@aifos5171 so Gwendolyn was king of the few gods after gwyn linked tge flame (sorry dude im not Japanese nor do I have a translator) my question is now, why did the gods have a king, I would thing someone to like represent anor londo, but y Gwendolyn, was gwyn the first king, an if so y not annoint Gwynevere before he departs, or did this anointment of Gwendolyn happen after the first linking?
I never realised that Iron Golem is the slowest boss in the game (not counting Bed of Chaos). He doesn't know how to run, nor how to do running or jumping attacks, but he sure looks menacing with that walk.
Personally, it feels like if the Four Kings (or maybe Fifth King in this case) never try their grab attack, they can potentially win, though they benefited from the moves Gwyndolin picked that round. Gwyn can also win, but he has to jump from max range like against a player, not hesitate to follow up with his one-handed swing, and not grab either. Aside from that, Ornstein (who was very smart here) is the best hope, but Super Ornstein, true to his normal gameplay boss fight, gets addicted to shootouts. Gwyndolin was especially fixated on his bow for that fight; it was the closest I've ever seen to him trying a melee brawl as per other boss vs. boss videos. Thanks for letting Gwyndolin get a major chance to shine! He's definitely a crafty boss compared to others in the game, and his moves pack a tremendous punch. By the way, would Sif be able to fit in the arena if he was moved a bit further to the right, or does his entire sword have a neutral hitbox that collides with the alcoves and walls? Also, would Nito get stuck in the room, or would he just be too slow and lose for sure? Too bad Nito's Gravelord (Great)Sword Dance doesn't seem to work on bosses. It'd be cool if it ever could. At the very least, I think a "Nito vs. Bosses" video one day could benefit from being set in his arena, as he'd be able to use his necromancy that's a key part of his fight. Thanks again, Pantagana!
Fifth King would win since he has so much HP. Sif has a weird hitbox, it's not because of the sword. Nito's Gravelord Sword Dance doesn't work, and he just try to use that while Gwyndolin shoots him, so it's an unfair disadvantage.
@@Pantagana Thanks for the explanations. For Nito's thing, I was just thinking that move (if it could ever work) might let him land one hit before Gwyndolin blasts him to death. However, I forgot that his AI still tries the move even if it won't work, so that's probably why he wasn't included in this video.
@@Pantagana I found out how to make Sif Fit In Gwyndolin’s Arena, Basically In Sif’s Character Param (521000) there is a Value called “Hit Radius” witch Affects the horizontal Space of Sif’s Collision, Changing It to 1 makes It the same size as the Player’s Horizontal Collision.
If Smough bothered to approach with his "Smough Shovel" attack (the running hammer charge), he'd probably block most of Gwyndolin's attacks. It'd likely take more of a lore situation than a boss vs. boss situation for Smough to consistently do that, but he does seem equipped with the means to not get wrecked, along with the knowledge to do well. The giant orb could still phase through the hammer though, and the side orbs could potentially go around the hammer enough to still hit Smough, but it would certainly be a lot fewer orbs hitting him than in this video.
Seems to be endless. I've seen multiple Ornsteins get stuck in a doorway, both trying to dash at the player. They seemed to just hover in place without rest.
@@Pantagana That'd be dope. Maybe that could be a neat little video idea - have bosses and enemies race to the end of the hallway? My money would be on S. Ornstein, Artorias, and a bonewheel.
As is typical, speed matter far more than strength against Gwyndolin. Iron Golem is gonna get fucking owned. Super Ornstein, the first King, and Gwyn almost had it, though there is the issue of Gwyndolin's soulmass spell being so much better than his other moves, and him not really using it for the King or Gwyn. I think Gwyndolin might have been able to beat Artorias if he had spammed soulmass. Also, wow, the soulmass really is that much better than the soul spear and the bow. Winners: Artorias Manus
Oh dear Lord Ornstein the Animation clipper at it again I see his charges are so easily put out of sequence - he almost made it though also I think they overdid it a little with the intensity of Gwyn´s light effect it´s like he has a floodlight attached to himself that dignified walk though...
Quaelag: imma getcha 1:40 Gwendolyn: *teleports* Quaelag: *turn to face us* "you seriously expect me to walk all the way there" 5:48 is what we all do when we see a rare drop from farming a enemy for a long time lol
He really wouldn't, Tauros would probably be a slow grappler with no range and Gwyndolin would be a zoner, that matchup is extremely in Gwyndolin's favor.
Crazy idea: If the Iron Golem has 999,999 HP, how long does it take until either Gwyndolin or the Golem dies? Could be a neat little silly video. Probably a very long one, granted, but it could be interesting. Could also be cool to just toss in a bunch of wheel skeletons, and see how many it takes to vengabus the situation.
Gwyn's inner monologue is as thusly. "My boy... I... I'm... killing my boy. Wife, I'm killing our boy. We painted these walls... we made these toys... It's our boy, Wife. Your greatest gift to me... and I'm... killing him. I must already be dead."
Seeing Gwyndolin cheese bosses by teleporting feels like watching an invader chain backstab you Also it’s interesting they made the kill planes so close to the geometry of the walls, if I were to guess their positions I would assume they were scaled to the main chamber of the tomb and not tailored down in the hallway
Siempre he pensado que Wyndolin al ser derrotado por el no muerto elegido quedó malherido causando que fácilmente Aldrich el devorador de dioses lo consumiera.
You should appreciate how Artorias instead of staying on the ground like others (Gwyn) decides to go airborne. And against those attacks Gwyndolin can't do anything. He has not the time to warp. Gwyn had the same capabilities but decided to run and got punished.
centipede and kalameet wont collide? also it'd be cool if you try these below against gwyndolynn in case there is a part 2: smol sif(has more hp than great sif and most importantly fits in the arena), red knight(shield),red silver knight(bow), Havel, fifth king(i wonder if he'd win a battle of magic), a group of dark magic sorceress. an enemy i think is very underated is ricard; he mostly uses a bow (dunno why) but he's really strong when using the rapier maybe removing his bow would make him an interesting versus against bosses (or against other NPC's such as tarkus, havel, angry mushroom, chained prisoner, etc)
Centipede Demon and Kalameet die instantly like Gaping Dragon. Fifth King would win since he has 4x HP of a normal King, who got Gwyndolin down to 50% HP. I don't think there will be a part 2 any time soon.
when I saw Ornstein and even Super Ornstein falling even with that OP dash I was hopeless!! But then, I remembered that Artorias could be quite a challenge for poor lady boy
