The Palestinian rap group DAM put Palestinian rap on the map for and inspired Arab rap in general with songs like Meen Irhabi (Who’s the terrorist?). DAM did not only address Arabs, however. As Palestinian citizens of Israel, they also had Hebrew lyrics, directly challenging their oppressor.
Tamer Nafar, one of the group’s founding members, has since launched a solo career which includes writing and starring in a semi autobiographical film, Junction 48 as well as newly released music. He joined Rania Khalek to discuss his art, his home in the mixed Israeli city of Lydd, and his life.
Songs and movies that were discussed:
The Beat Never Goes Off • Tamer Nafar - The Beat...
Go There • Tamer Nafar - Go There...
Meen Irhabi: • DAM - Min Irhabi
Tamer’s movie Junction 48: • Junction 48 Official T...

I love listening to this intelligent man. He is humble, and that does not take any thing away from his divisiveness, and masculinity. Love this interaction. Commentary is up lifting. You do not have to agree on all subjects to create music. 😢❤🎉😮😅

As an Armenian from Iran I need to ask Palestinians why our organizations are not working together to help each other regarding our rights because if two people fighting against evils we can see more results.

Have you asked yourself that question? And did you come up with an answer? Then you're in a position to ask that question of others.

If you're against the Islamic Republic, Other-Joe, then you're factually allied with Palestine's enemy...

Nice to see the continues generations of Palestinians fighting for their homeland Palestine (Flistine) against the occupation officially going on for 74 years since 1948. The Palestinians must continue fighting the occupation on their homeland Palestine as long as it takes until Palestine becomes free again. There are more than 15 million Palestinians in Palestine and all over the world. 100s of millions people world wide are also siding with their cause. Therefore, they must take the lead fighting the occupation in order the rest of the world boldly and actively to join them.

You know what it is Ranya?, This has been so frustrating since I can remember in history. We organize what we can, but it is difficult as you know to reach our brothers and sisters. But we certainly sympathize and do what we can unfortunately our power is limited. As believers, I continue to believe 100% that Allah SWT will intervene against this INJUSTICE! Tears always flowed down our cheeks at the sight of the images of this hideous oppression! This sacred ground and its original inhabitants must not be further destroyed!

Appreciate this interview. He says “When I started, I never wanted to be political, because I wanted to succeed. Over here (in Israel) you can be pro-Palestinian if your a Jew….We were friends until we got political”
