Using a Hookway Retort to convert palm tree frond waste into biochar. Biochar is a good way to convert a biomass waste matrix into a soil amendment. Palm frond waste twines and can break chippers. It also takes a long time to break down. Charring the matrix is quick and has significant soil and carbon sequestration benefits.

Eww that swimming pool looks like a mosquito larva haven..that horrible..it always irks me when I see ppl who have swimming pools but have chosen to completely neglect them turning them into a massive breeding farm for mosquito's never even considering the harm thats bringing to those around them.. At least empty the damn thing if you don't plan to use it/take care of it.. It doesn't require much effort at all (since that's usually the whole reason ppl end up neglecting them in the first place-too much work&they're either too lazy or they lack the proper knowledge &didnt quite realize that when they first decided to get a place with a pool..anyways, all you have to do is throw a pump down in there, run the line out to the gutter and let the pump do all the work.. The swimming pool was too distracting for me to appreciate anything else in this video

Actually this is a bio pool with indigenous mosquito eating fish. So no mosquitoes or any other unsavoury insects breed in this pool. The pool attracts beneficial frogs and toads (which no longer had a place to inhabit before the pool was converted), attracts many indigenous birds, dragon flies (and related) while also enabling us to be 100% chemical free in our garden (so we're not supporting the chemical industry). Wouldn't it be better to ask a question vs. making a judgement?

@@earthprobiotic Yes, you're absolutely correct. I do apologize. It was a late sleepless night for me so I was def irritable & anytime that happens my brain tends to recede into the background allowing for my emotions to take reign..and when you have shitty emotions calling all the shots, you tend to do/say things that are, well...shitty. Cuz, ya know, you get out what you put in... Right?l lol this Is in no way, me attempting to excuse being shitty, either, just to be clear..I'm simply trying to explain the circumstance is all cuz I promise you, I'm not always a rude lil shit like that... And the fact that I'm currently plagued with DOZENS of mosquito bites with that number continuously increasing was like adding eether to fire lol.. Anyways, I do apologize and I from now on i will try to be more mindful about being so quick to jump to conclusions &making an ass of myself lol. Any who-i admire your dedication to preserving the planet and everything in it-even assholes like myself! Lol I'm going to go ahead anf ask the question I initially intended to ask you before I dumbed myself down &went on a mosquito rant lol...which is; what/ how exactly are you supposed to use the bio char&what does it do? I'm assuming the benefits couldn't possibly be that of a nutritional nature cuz I don't think anything could've survived the process of becoming char lol

@@marioncaffroy7045 - when you char bio waste the resulting char forms a type of charcoal (but not great for cooking on as palm waste is very soft). The char forms small long lasting 'sponges' which in the soil help with water and nutrient retention, while also providing 'nests' for beneficial fungi and micro-organisms to grow in. Also, it's a carbon negative technology in that the carbon produced by the process is less than what would have been produced if this 'waste' had to have broken down in the environment (producing methane). Great for sandy and clay soil.
