We finally made it to the infamous Palmerton Spartan Race and it did not disappoint! Following along as I try to run, jump, swing, and push my way through this incredibly challenging course.
By far my hardest race to date!

I'm so glad you filmed this. I ran the open later that morning and that carry sucked the life out of me. There were bodies and sandbags all over that part of the mountain. I asked people who ran the Sprint the next day what they thought and they said it wasn't too bad. Here, I found out that Spartan changed the location of the carry for the Sprint. Now I can direct them to this video to show them what they missed. :)

Glad you liked it man! I film all my races so if you run the ones around here make sure to check back for the video footage. Lol no one will understand the sandbag carry and the Hercules Hoist at this years super unless they were there and experienced it themselves. If you know, you know lol

New year resolution is to finally do a spartan. Can’t wait to next July! Thank you for filming this to get an idea of hard this would be! Now to start training for the super!

It’s hard but it’s supposed to be! It just makes you that much prouder when you cross the finish line. You got this! I ran in the competitive age group race too so remember that. If you run in the open waves, it won’t be nearly as intense and more on the “just out to have fun and get over that finish line” side. Best of luck and I hope I see you out there!

@@ByondTheNorm I think I wanna do the age division race (18-24) just to give me a little more motivation since it is more intense and I wanna see how I compare to others in my age bracket. Hope to see you in July :)

I also did the Palmerton Super! It was my third Spartan Race, so I am a beginner. I thought I was going to die. However, I passed many people, and was successful in most obstacles. Spartan has placed me in the Top 25%!! And the view was top-notch!!

Congrats and pretty incredible for a beginner! That’s what’s great about these races. They have the power to both make you feel like you’re going to die yet inspire us to push harder all at the same time.

The sandbag carry into the hoist was cruel. Especially when the hoist was heavier than usual due to the rain. Kicked my ass too yet I loved it haha. Good job

Great job !!! Thank you for posting … did it in July as an open (that sandbag is no joke) … I noticed (maybe I am wrong, so apologize in advance if it is not correct observation), it seems that you were using something for a better grip. My palms sweat like crazy, can you recommend something? Thank you

I use liquid chalk. It’s not perfect. If it’s raining or you don’t let it dry before starting, it makes things harder. But on a nice day, it drys in seconds and helps a ton with grip. Just be careful, I ripped all my callouses off because I used to much at this years Palmerton. This is the video from last years.

In how much time did you finish?
@ByondTheNorm
@ByondTheNorm Год назад
Just over 2 hours. I believe I did it in 2 hours 4 minutes or something like that

@@ByondTheNorm I’m doing a super or a beast race for my first time how long would you recommend for me to train prior to my race?
@ByondTheNorm
@ByondTheNorm Год назад
@@christianruiz6582 that depends highly on your current fitness level. Can you already run the distance of a super or a beast?
@christianruiz6582
@christianruiz6582 Год назад
@@ByondTheNorm I can run the super at the moment but I’m not so sure about the beast without getting into better shape, as well with the being able to do some obstacles. For example the climbing the rope I’m not so sure I’ll be able to do that one at the moment.
@ByondTheNorm
@ByondTheNorm Год назад
My suggestion for the rope climb is to watch RU-vid tutorials. My wife has very limited upper body strength but was able to watch a video and get right up the rope. It’s about learning how to lock your feet in and once you get it down, it’s easy. If you can run a super then you can complete a beast. Many people, especially in the open heat, walk a lot of the course. So if you do a walk run combo you will be just fine. It will be hard, but that’s what it’s all about right? If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t feel so damn good to get that medal when you finish.
