Panasonic really was just slightly ahead of our time. The radio is repaired. The defect caused by the leaking Duracell battery was the 1st. IF coil. It was Open between pins 1, & 4. Shame a radio lasted this long until it met it's fate due to lousy Duracell AA batteries, that ALL leak, causing damage to precious electronics. Making matters worse, unfortunately, the replacement IF coil outlined in the SAMS, is not compatible size-wise. Although it is functionally correct, due to the size of the Miller 8810, the radio cannot be re-assembled. It is just too tall for the application. An original cannot be sourced anywhere, & have been unable to locate anything compatible in production today. There may or may not be a part 4, as reassembly remains at a standstill.

Is there room in the radio to relocate and turn it on its side and just run wires?

You use an apple magic mouse! theyre bloody brill arent they. the japanese also purposely use 100v line voltage just to be awkward making japanese stuff a certifiable nightmare here in England where we have 250v

You can always buy a really cheap 100v cigarette lighter inverter and a 12v power supply. It's a cheap workaround.

@@tarstarkusz Thing is it needs to be at least 100watts capacity at 50hz

@@Synthematix The 12v supply would probably be more than the inverter. You can get a 100 watt inverter pretty cheap. You just have to get one made for the 100v market. They (cheap inverters) are common as hell in the US, but they are for 110v at 60hz, which is the American standard. I just googled it and Japan use 50hz, so a simple transformer would be fine.
