The storage device update is likely improved SD card compatibility. I had an issue with the DC-S5M2X in which it stopped recording and then couldn't read the SD card. Saw another user on Reddit had the same issue. Submitted it to Panasonic and they called me about it, saying that they were going to talk to the engineers in Japan about it and a firmware update would be out in a week or so (this was a week ago).

@@stevelitton Fairly new SANDISK XTRM PRO SDXC UHS-II 128GB. It was odd since I've owned the GH4, GH5, GH6 and never had an issue like it. Though it happened on the S5M2X.

One thing I know the GH6 is capable of doing is syncing with other GH6 or devices through the Flash synchro socket with a BNC conversion cable (for TC IN/OUT) Im not sure why I don't see anyone doing this on RU-vid. This should allow one to use the GH6 for 3D purposes or Ar purposes. Interested in knowing more about this if possible.

Hey Steve, By the way. Yesterday I got from Panasonic and brand new/refurbished GH6. If you remember I had a broken screen and lots of problems. It was like pulling teeth but in the end they did the right thing. That being said. This is good. I have been staying away from the update because I do not use and external recorded. But it seems like you recommend the updates regardless of that. Also look forward to the G92 video. I guess you feel the same about that update. I look forward down the road to experimenting with Raw. I've studied and watched many many pros talk about shooting in Raw. Not for me at this time but down the road for sure. Do you personally shoot in RAW?

Great to hear that they eventually sorted it out! Yeah, it's always worth updating to the latest firmware version regardless. I am just speculating there as well, it could be for internal card compatibility. I have shot in RAW for a few projects with a rented recorder but for most of my client work it's just overkill. Their budgets often doesn't stretch far enough to justify the additional storage and workflow costs.

are you in touch with Lumix by any chance ? that light streak issue is a big red flag for the gh6. do you know about it ?

Hi, I'm not affiliated with Panasonic in any way. It does exist and it does across many cameras with CMOS sensors. But it is a little more pronounced on the GH6 in certain ISO settings and lighting conditions. I've been shooting with the camera for a year and half and only come across it a handful of times. You can see people recreate it across many different camera brands.

Hello people, please help me. I bought gh6 (not new) and its freezez up while recording and to restart it i need to take out the battery. Also restarting byitself randomly. Is it overheating, could slow sd cards cause this problems..did i lost money?😢

It won't be overheating, I run mine for hours on end and it's fine. Sounds like it's either the battery or the SD card. Are you using an official battery and did you format the card in the camera? I think you are going to need to get yourself on to firmware version 2.0 first and then there is an update to version 2.2 which is like a double firmware update. From there you should be able to jump to 2.5. Hope that helps.

Sometimes it loses connection when doing power delivery on mine. I had issues before and sent it in....they put a new PCB board in it....took forever to get my camera back. So when I got it back and it still intermittenly had issues I decided this camera might not be for me in a high demand live broadcasting environment. Who knows, maybe this will fix the power delivery issue I having as well. My GH5 has been more reliable over the years than this GH6 I got...

That sounds like a pain. Do you mean power delivery to the camera from a power bank or power delivery to the SSD while recording? If it's the latter, which SSD are you using?

@@stevelitton Power delivery from a power bank via usb. Been through all kinds of testing to ensure cable or power bank is not the issue. The power bank does power delivery perfectly with every other device, and will do it with the GH6, but it intermittenly will lose connection and show on the GH6 screen with the little lightning bolt power delivery is happening, but the battery will run dead without draining the power bank at all. It is a huge pain in a live streaming environment...

@@stevelitton And I made sure power delivery from the Anker was happening with another device that has the same amps and volts, other devices with various voltage, etc. It is flawless with all other devices, but the GH6 shows that it is receiving power with the bolt, but will run dead. If I connect and reconnect sometimes and just don't touch it, it will work. It half made me want to just sell off the GH6 as it is just not fun trying to run a live broadcast every week with that issue. I have multi cams and backup batteries, but as a solo operator, having to stop what I am doing, run to the camera, swap a battery while I am cut to another cam for that time, it is a runaround. I know the dummy battery thing would work, but...the camera location is NOWHERE near a power source. So...the GH6 was for that, with the GH5 living elsewhere where it is not a problem. The GH6 is my main cam, so having this issue in this situation made me realize why large productions just use broadcast cameras...

I've not come across that issue. I can usually get about 4.5 hours continuous shooting out of my GH6 with the Anker Nano attached, longer using my larger Power core bank. Out of interest, which Anker power bank are you using and which cable?

@@stevelitton The Anker Powercore+ recommended on Panasonic's website, and there are USB C cables that suck at charging if not at all. I use an Anker Cable that works really good and have another one that powers any device. Just the connectivity issue with the GH6 that is frustrating.
