Xf10 Auto focus issues. Menu-set up 2- power management- select “ high performance “ give it a try

I love that your son came in and you just kept motoring. Good for you. I am still wondering if I would get on with the XF 10, pocketability and start up time are important to me. Hmm

Nice comparison. The XF10 is appealing; I have the older Fujifilm XQ2 (2/3" sensor; f/1.8-4.9; 25-100mm) and it's still a great pocket camera. The LX10 has some nice features like 4K Photo and focus stacking. Horses for courses....

Bottom line. Xf10 has top quality photos and high iso performance. The autofocus is not that reliable. Hopefully fuji does a firmware update. But for the price you cant beat it. Period

I pretty much replaced a Nikon 1 kit with an LX10. I get the same primes with better performance and honestly a better menu system. Keep in mind I basically only shot with a 28 and 50 rough equivalent primes, this also gives me a fairly quick 70 ish on top of the rest. I wanted an XF10, but I think 35 is too wide, much less 28 as my only option. With 35 you stay clear of most distortion and have room to crop slightly to hit 40mm or so that's a more comfortable frame for me. The gr iiix has been like the perfect choice for me when I tried it...but I'm not looking to spend 800-900 USD on a pocket camera right now so the LX10 stays.

I saw on a video on the LX10 you can use the front ring for focus, that you can set the zoomrocker to go directly from 28 to 35 to 50 mm etc. and that it even remembers the last focal length used when you power it on (if you want). I was wondering, can I use the LX10 to always have it on 28 or 35mm, leave it on F8 quickly switch to Manual mode and zone-focus? In theory it looks very doable, but I can't try one in real life and see if it's actually fast to do or if it's at all awkward because maybe the focus ring turns turns too slow or something.

The fact that the equivelent aperture of the lx10 at 24mm equivalent is faster than the xf10 kills the xf10.

Sorry, but I am not sure of exactly what you are trying to find. It might be cool if you listed out the must haves and the nice to haves. So far I know you want something pocketable with the ability to have manual ISO, shutter, aperture. Nice to haves would be zoom and sensor size, but only as it related to image quality/sharpness. Low light capabilities as a significant factor, so maybe max aperture 2.8. And Unfixed screen is also a nice to have. The two cameras you are looking at so far are in the $300 to $400 range. I am not sure if a ILC with a pancake lens is something you would consider. And I am not sure if you have a megapixel requirement. New or Used? Maybe checking out RX100 or LX100 might be worthwhile, and maybe even some G7s or G9s. Looking forward to see what the other camera you are considering is.

Here’s my wishlist: $300-400 range Pocketable (jacket) Decent Handling (personal choice) Interchangeable lenses would be nice but not a must have Tilt screen would also be nice Oddly enough I was having a higher hit rate on the LX but both work well. I like the XF10 best right now but I’m gonna look at one other option.

I do these reviews just for others as I think they might find it interesting. Both work for me
@malmedia
@malmedia 4 года назад
@@ericrjennings Ahh, you are reviewing these particular cameras for others. That confuses me a little because I am not sure there are very many others out there looking at either of these cameras. Not a criticism, just an observation. I did a little bit of looking into the LX10, just out of curiosity, and see that there is a 4K photo mode. Have you tried that at all? I would be interested in seeing what kind of success you have had from using these cameras in the real world, using each of them int he same situation, showing the strengths and weaknesses of each. I know that is probably a lot more time consuming. But if I was considering either of these cameras, that is what I would like to see in a review.
@ericrjennings

I’m also interested in them but if I have both I figure why not share my thoughts on them. Doesn’t I need to go out and shoot with them side by side. I’ll do that in a future review. For the coming week it’ll be other content for a while

$300 dollars? hmm. weird...here the LX10 is $600-700 vs the XF10 is $400 only. And mind you the LX10 is portable cinematic beast (not some good video shooter); I always use it with and ND filter mounted on a Zhiyun crane M. I have had it for 3 years. I have also looked at the XF10 just to get access to the fabled Fuji color profiles but never pulled the trigger on that as I have too much cameras already & my 2014 SL1 with a 24 mm pancake seems like the XF10.

A bit confusing. I can't seem to capture the point of you rambling, without comparing how the two cameras perform. I am actually interested on how the xf10 would perform in your tests/photowalks.
@ericrjennings
@ericrjennings 4 года назад
Thanks for the feedback. It was a quickly put together video but I can tell you this. I walked around with the XF10 tonight and it works just fine. Although I can tell you the autofocus hunts a bit more than the LX10 and can cause you to miss a critics shot at times. Snap focus would be a good remedy for this. As I choose an everyday carry camera, you look see more photo walks through the POV of my DJI Osmo Action. I have a M4/3 camera coming that I’ll compare the XF10 to and make a final decision against.

@@ericrjennings idk, man. Why not just continue and NOT DO what other photography channel do? Judging with the videos you make - most of them are rambling, tbh. No pun. Why not continue with the xf10 - and ACTUALLY make proper content for your audience who are actually interested?
@ericrjennings
@ericrjennings 4 года назад
Yuan Deita by proper content you mean POV photography stuff? If so that’s the intention here. I have a Nikon Z6 I shoot on for paid work and times where I can bring the larger camera. Right now I’m in search of the right pocket camera. Wherever I end up, I’ll do street photography content with that camera as well. This channel for 2020 will be a combination of personal vlogs and photography behind the scenes stuff. What content are you most interested in?
