@@edmundtanfilms Yo this is a great question but I think Canon is too little too late as usual. 1. No EVF (the S1H has a killer EVF) 2. 1DX line doesn't have a movable LCD screen- no tilt, no flip out. 3. Between the body and the cards you will have to spend 8k at least plus a monitor so you are looking at close to 9k for a DSLR. You can buy 2 S1H or a Varicam for that price. RIP Canon, you had a great run...
Hi Ben, Getting mine in about 10 days, same setup as yours. I heard at the intro you’re going to try it on the Ronin gimbal. Is it an S and does it currently support the S1H?
My question would be: What are the absolute best setting? Say you were delivering a 4k DCI ProRes HQ file, would it be better to shoot in 5.9k 4.2.0.or in 4k 4.2.2?
I think you are really cutting to the core question of this camera that no one has really figured out online yet. When you first get the camera its overwhelming all of the record modes and combinations between resolutions and fullframe/s35/pixelbypixel. I want to do more testing but my gut says 4k 422 is the best image this camera makes. And one of the Lumix DP's that tested the camera basically said that. however, the 6k and 5.9k resolutions have a use when you need the extra resolution for say VFX plates, or an interview that you wanted to create multiple frame sizes. At the end of the day the extra record options are a customizable and each user can create their own set of modes that fits their style.
Johann Bauermeister extrashot, made a Great video about it. The best is 5.9k 4.2.0. you have more resolution and Color information! then 4K 4.2.2. in the comments are great discussion about that
Matej Varga Ja, I saw that, love his channel and sense of humour!...I also assumed the 422 would be superior, mathematics is not my strong suit... will be interesting to see what the different formats look like. There sure are enough options... The anamorphic capability of this little camera looks impressive...
