Another fascinating interview with such a humble chap. Great interviewing skills, no awkward technical questions trying to impress the audience. Just a normal 2 way conversation. Nice one 👍

I can confirm we have 4 Tornados on static display in the US. There are 2 GR1's in museums including 1 at the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, OH and 2 German IDS models elsewhere including 1 German Navy IDS model at Pima Air Museum which is located near the "Boneyard" at Davis Monthan AFB, Arizona where all the decommissioned military planes of the US air forces (except top-secret planes) end up.

Another great interview. Really enjoying the Tornado stuff at the moment. Sad it's now gone, but nice to hear stories from the crews that operated it. Keep them coming! :)

I've met him when I was flying the Tutor as part of AEF at RAF Cranwell w/ cadets. Nice chap. I believe I have done a sortie with him once.

It's such a pity that there will be no more fast taxi runs at Bruntingthorpe after all the effort put in over the years by the Lightning Preservation Group including rebuilding of the Wattisham QRA shed and not forgetting the owners of the Cold War jets collection on the same site. I've seen Dennis scream down the runway on many occasions. About the only fast jet day I missed over the years was when Bob Prothero took off in the Victor. Thanks also to the airfield owners the Walton family.

Hi Dennis, I still remember my 1st. night TFR ride with you before I was cleared to instruct TFR - flying in C-Sqn!

So what do you do in retirement, Dennis? “Planes planes more planes”. I’m beyond envious!

I remember the forest fire well. It was my first ever detachment as a young sooty. They closed the bars!

Just watched this video again. It’s hard to believe low level was 1000ft in Germany during the Cold War. I think a lot of pilots may have bent the rules a bit. I spent a couple of camping trips in Germany in 1987 totalling about four weeks. We camped near a town called Rosbach north of Frankfurt and I witnessed fast jets way lower than 1000ft albeit mostly USAF F-111’s and RF-4’s. I did see Tornados also but I can’t remember were they Luftwaffe or RAF. An RF-4 would wake us every morning at 0700hrs as it skimmed over the camp site at a high rate of knots .

I recall a mid air collision not far from where I live in 1999 involving a Cessna from Gamston airport and a Tornado GR1 from TTTE at Cottesmore. All on board both aircraft were killed. Flt. Lt. Greg Hurst and 2nd Lt. Matteo Di Carlo were on a routine training exercise from Cottesmore, I'm afraid I didn't know the guys in the Cessna. R.I.P. to all involved.

Jdam wasn't used. Storm Shadow definitely, I was g crew when they got strapped on, staggered 4 ship. Sqn boss in the lead jet, had a hang up so rtb. Was not happy as his wingman dropped and sent the delivery, reciever wasn't happy, fuck that guy, he now own's a crater..... Seeing my jet come home without extra holes, priceless. And yes Andy I still remember you, that day in Ali al Salem, when my nerves fubared our script.....you came back without wing tanks......I have never been so happy to see an old screaming leaky beautful aircraft in my life Tornado became my life and I miss them so much. Even just a max dry engine burn in a detuner would sort of help me let go, but I know I can't. The best years of my life are hers
