On November 16-17 in 2023, we organized the 'Policy and Values' Conference in Warsaw, during which we gathered all the key issues that our Association addresses. We subjected these issues to various aspects of panel discussions.
Conference program: www.europeapat...
On the third panel, we are creating a platform for Ukrainian experts and European partners to discuss policies that can build a more social, democratic - and thus more stable - country.
Speakers:
Viktor Zagreba - Ukrainian consultant and expert in communication policy, advisor to the Ministry of Infrastructure in Ukraine (2018-2020) 🇺🇦
Yulia Nazarenko - Coordinator of the education policy area at Cedos 📚
Vasyl Andreyev (online) - President of the Construction and Building Materials Workers Union of Ukraine (PROFBUD) 🔨
Bartosz Rydliński - Co-founder of the Centrum im. Ignacego Daszyńskiego, Assistant professor at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw 🏛️
Valeriya Izhyk (chair) - EU Policy Officer (Ukraine Reconstruction) at CEE Bankwatch Network 🇪🇺
🌍🇺🇦 If Ukraine is to be resilient to current and future aggressions, it must rebuild in a better way. It is not only a matter of values: protecting the most vulnerable citizens and justly rewarding essential workers who create social resilience on the Ukrainian Home Front. It is also a matter of pragmatism. If the demands of Ukrainian society for safeguarding a decent standard of living are not met, post-war Ukraine may face both a demographic breakdown (with millions of Ukrainian women not returning to a country that does not provide social services) and political resistance to economic shock therapy (with millions of Ukrainian citizens disenchanted and traumatized by the war). This resistance is something Russia would be eager to exploit to destabilize Ukraine and its neighbors.

Ukraine isn't a democracy. In democracies there is more than one TV Channel, main political parties and main Christian denominations aren't banned, no mass extrajudicial killings, disappearances and torture, men from 18 to 60 aren't banned from leaving the country, people aren't rounded up in the streets and dragged to their death. Democracies hold elections after all. Well, it's a quote from The Time article. Zelenskyy top advisers say about him: “He deludes himself, ” one of his closest aides tells me in frustration. “We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that. It is immovable, verging on the messianic.” One Austrian artist was in a similar state in 1945. Zelenskyy "achievements" to date: 500,000 Ukrainians are dead, 3x that mangled and crippled for life, half of Ukraine's population is living as refugees scattered all over Europe and Russia right now, they're drafting women because they've run out of men to kidnap off the streets, gyms and public transport. NYT wrote about these mass kidnappings that were happening only in Zelenskyy Ukraine and Hitler's Germany in 1945 in an article ‘People Snatchers’.
