The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 “Bronzo” 3 Days Limited Edition PAM 382 features a 47mm bronze case surrounding a green dial on a brown leather strap with a titanium tang buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, small-seconds and date. The watch also measures 17.4mm in thickness and 56.8 mm from lug-to-lug. The Panerai PAM 382 Bronzo is a 2011 model year limited edition of 1,000 pieces.
The IWC Big Pilot Heritage Bronze Limited Edition (IW5010-05) features a 46.2mm bronze case surrounding a black dial on a brand new brown leather strap with a bronze tang buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date and power reserve indicator. The watch also measures 15.6mm in thickness and 56.3mm from lug-to-lug. The IWC Pilot's Watch Heritage Bronze is a 2017 model year limited edition of 1,500 pieces.

IWC for me. Better movement, soft iron inner cage, longer power reserve with an indicator, bronze buckle and blued hands. Although this Panerai started off the bronze craze (a good thing IMHO) and a clear case back, I'm still going with the big pilot.

I am choosing the IWC Big Pilot Bronzo because it is big beautiful and has a beautiful big crown. I don't think diver watch should be bronze because the sea water will corrode the bronze. Bronze watch should be pilot or driver watch. The Panerai Luminor is the best choice if you are a collector or an investor because it's value will go up.

I would take the Panerai in a heartbeat even if it means bypassing the ‘nostalgic mid-century of modern aviation’ only so that I could steal ‘Patient Zero’ from the ‘Laboratory of Ideas’ just so that I could ‘complete my journey back from French Polynesia’ while promising to get ‘wise with the vinegar’.

Superb vid👌🏼!! Having both, in addition to PAM’s latest addition to the Bronzo collection, the blue dialed 671, I looked at and had the opportunity to grab PAM’s second Bronzo iteration, the green dialed 507, same dial color as the 382 with the addition of a PR indicator @ 4-6 on the dial, however I’m not a fan of dial PR’s(I prefer case back) and it looks forced and busy and I passed. Amazingly, both the 507 and the blue dialed 671 both trade in the mid/high $20k’s, at or slightly less than the 382, which a few greedy yahoos have posted north of $30k+, lol. Anyhoo, if I could only keep one of the three, it would be the 382, though my most worn is the IWC, as I can also wear it comfortably with button downed shirt/jacket, where as the PAMs, like most if not all of their 47mm examples, are made purely for casual play. Again, enjoyable review of both pieces and while I love and wear the IWC more than my PAMs, I agree that the 382 is THE Big Dog!! Stay well Brother👊 My Best, RP

The choice must be the first of the breed - Panerai with no question. The buckle makes my head hurt, though. My Zelos Mako has a bronze buckle ffs.

I have a couple panerais but none of them uses the original strap or buckle. I think the brands understand that we like the customs straps.

not a fan of the lume hands on the iwc. Also not a fan of faux faded lume. I tink brass hands or fully blued hands would've looked a lot more elegant

Having tried on both I would say that for a safe queen the Panerai, and for actual wearing the Big Pilot. Maybe if I were a foot taller and packed on another 100 lbs the Panerai would be perfect :)

The strap on the IWC is too short. Had to change mine for a custom made, since I had not help at all from IWC AD at Shopping JK in Brazil!

My AD changed the strap on my Big Pilot for free luckily but the XL strap is only one hole bigger, it's a joke really. At least the XL straps on my Panerai is a bit longer than that.
