Please Respong, when shopping for 5150's, do you think it is a better idea to buy vintage price hiked amps OR just go with one of the new versions? (EVH brand and/or the new 6505's from Peavey)
For us metal guys, its so awesome to hear you chugging on the low E, and not over doing the complex riffage. I wish more reviews on amps and pedals did this! Thank you!!!!!
Ola I really like this format, it gives us a new video without you having to put tens and tens of hours into each one, whilst retaining your classic ola-ness Please respong: how do you go about with doing pinch harmonics on the low E string? Some guitars seem impossible, on some it's almost natural
A lot of that has to do with the guitar's scale length. The right spot for a pinch harmonic changes slightly with scale length, so you have to change your technique accordingly, which can take some experimentation and practice. You might also find that replacing the strings with different ones makes it easier or harder.
@@alanerpington5698 bingo, shorter scale guitars harmonic nodes are closer and easier to hit. I always struggle to nail them on 25.5" scale but 24 3/4 they just jump right out.
yupp, all about the scale length. Thought I was losing my mind when I tried to play metal on a superstrat. on the upside, having started on a tele gave me a big buff on my pinch harmonics
A lot of it is just practice, too. Eventually you'll be hitting pinch harmonics where ever the hell you want in all sorts of locations around the picking area
The Spark Mini has been one of my more favorite things I've bought the past few years. The charge lasts forever and it beats both playing without an amp or lugging around a "real" amp throughout the house when wanting to noodle in different places.
I love the positive grid stuff. I finally spent the $$ on bias fx2 and bias amp for my PC and I love it. For someone like me who mostly plays at home, it's pretty much all I'll need. Looking over at my tube amp and 4x12 as quite possibly the largest, most metal doorstop in existence now.
I spent some money on Bias FX2 for my Macbook and thought: I’ll never need anything else. Now I’m back at using guitar amps and only use the mobile version of Bias when I’m not at home. As good as Bias is, it still is not the real deal.
Run BIAS FX2 into the FX return of that tube amp and turn off your IRs/cabsim and you'll have basically any amp you want with effects and then a proper tube poweramp and 4x12 because damn you can't beat that 4x12 sound
I still use the tube amp, but if/when it ever goes that's pretty much it. It's an old Carvin and there's no way I'll find anything that sounds as good with as many features for less than the 1-2k range. My next live guitar rig if I ever need to rebuild one will look a lot more like a bass rig with a good preamp pedal, analog cab voiced DI out and a pedal amp just incase.
My respong is that I fucking love The Haunted. You gave them a new life that gave the old feel. I still listen to the old albums like rEVOLVEr all the time. Exit Wounds blended the old and the new and gave the band a new life. Thank you for that Ola. Thank you for your music.
It's amaze-balls what a person can do with the new tecnology installed in amps, and the software downloads included with some of them. Here's a challenge OLA!! Try your hand at a Dimebag, or Zakk Wylde tone with a Fender Mustang V.2 amp. All Hail Ola Da Swede!
Dude, I've just downloaded them all. Thanks so much! Specially PanterA2 preset is the best metal preset I've ever found in Spark Cloud! You have a new follower man!
Thank you Ola for sharing this with your community. I can't wait now to get back from work to try this. Have yourself and your beautiful family a great weekend.
Once you establish the "character" of the distortion you're looking for and have picked out the right IR to go with that, so much tonal character can be achieved by pairing a graphic EQ before the amp to establish the profile of the tone you're looking for, and then adding a parametric EQ in the effects loop to more precisely sculpt it to get exactly what you want.
@@sheldonwright8770 I've seen those and tried the tones but he uses the katana with a torpedo captor x and a marshall IR made with his own cab and it sounds completely different with the combo speaker
I'm getting OLD. In 04 I thought my tonal quest was over. I came into some money and thought, after playing on a Fender 15watt practice amp since 92 that I would buy a tube amp so long story short I test drove every amp at Guitar Center with my LTD EC-1000 and came out with a new 04 Mesa Single Rectifier 50 watt solo head and a Mesa Recto 2x12 cab, bamb! Short stack heaven right their. Couldn't been happier. But, after recently subbing to gear channels, WTF? Technology has made it so convenient and easy to get a multitude of tones at really cheap prices. I love my lifer rig but hurray for technology as well!
Hell yeah! I’ll use that today, love my spark 40, it’s a good little practice amp. Not as much b*lls as of course bigger amps, but it’s fun to toy around with so many effects and tones people upload at your disposal. Highly recommend it
Ola, great video series! I dont have the ear or the gear to dial in tones so equipment like the Spark are great for me. Please Respong: It would be awesome for you to show us one of your "go to" riffs when are really trying to see what a piece of gear can do. Pretty much any of SWOLA riffs, ha! You're Awesome!!
Freaking amazing.. you have an amazing ear.. I already know what your about I’ve been watching you for 6 or 8 years and your knowledge and talent is amazing.. I love how you have become more and more successful too.. your a great guitarist
I love this video. I have just subscribed. So much respect for Ola for getting this configuration right. Imma buy one of that amp when it becomes available here in my country. Need to save money first 😂😂
Dude... this is great!!!🤘🏿😎🤘🏿 It's always a good day when you are reaching LORD DIMEBAGs 333 tone. By demons be driven is one of my favourite riffs of all time 🤘🏿😎👹🤘🏿!!! Thanks Ola for choosing that!See you at SWOLA. HelllllllllllllllYeaaaaaaahhhhhhh Getcha Pull 🥃-CHEERS 🍻
Old please repsong! Could you do a video about the lighting in your studio? Not so much the lighting you do for videos but more the ambient lighting, different colours and such.
Ola, that tones you broadcasted are sounding great not only for Pantera stuff what I like a lot. Whats also funny that you have the same name as my doughter, cause in Poland Ola is the shorter version of Alexandra, greetings from Poland the same :)
By the way I bought a Chug recently and it gives versatile possibilities on my Blackstar HT5 Metal Combo, it sounds great either on direct connection in the front of the amplifier or in the effects loop, thanks for that small piece of metal s..t
Hi Ola, could you please take us through your setup /signal chain for the SWOLA guitar tones. What is your plug in of choice , ir eq settings ect, Thanks for everything
Howdy Ola! Recently got my hands on a Boss Katana 50 Mk 2 and love the patchs you put out. After some time has past is there anything you would update or change on them? Much love.
My problem with the Spark is you dial in a tone at a certain volume. Then you want to play later at a lower volume and the tone turns to mud. That and the noise gate cuts sustain really quick.
Turn the gate down lol. Noise gate works just fine for me. Sustain is great. And I don't experience that volume problem, either. Maybe something is up with your unit.😢
Question for you - recommendation for a simple "first-off" starter kit of what ypu need to star write, arrange and record your own s**t. Strictly intended as a learning curve set of things. Would be awesomesauceness
It's been at least 2 years since I bought the Spark 40 version of the Positive Grid, and to be honest it's excellent in terms of versatility and for its price which I find interesting. The only problem with this amp is that it is impossible to add plugins to the amp on a studio software because the sound card driver doesn't support it, so you have to record it with the effects present on the application. Some may also say that the sound is a bit "too cold" for my part it bothers me absolutely, I prefer this type of sound very aggressive with what to smash the ears of the neighbors 😂
What is your go to plugin and digital gear for recording guitar into a digital amplifier? I'm a video game composer and always look to try new things. Love from Ohio ❤
