Mom monitored the sugar we put on cereal, but fairly early on we realized that our bowls were white, and sugar was white, so if we managed to dump sugar into the bottom of the bowl before we poured the cereal, we'd be able to have vast amounts of sugar.... and then we'd carefully measure out the one allowed spoonful on top of the cereal.

Gourmet Rice Krispy squares, I'm all for that. Me: pulling out the microwave safe bowl so I can eat them faster.

I believe that Good Eats ran a “contest” years ago asking viewers to send in their best home made video of being Alton Brown and doing their own imitation Good Eats segment of some kind. Alton at home like this, doing these segments, and submitting it, would have at least gotten a great 3rd place, maybe 2nd even. 😜. Just kidding. These are awesome! Putting it back in the box is genius, as there's one less thing to wash.

I love the idea of re-using the cereal bag and box. I do this every time I make Chex Mix -- because I don't make the tiny batches listed in the recipes -- I usually make 6 boxes worth of Chex Mix (1 corn chex, 1 wheat chex, 2 rice chex, 1 Crispix, 1 Cheerios, plus all the other goodies like pretzels and mixed nuts and raisins) and then I don't have enough storage containers for it -- so after it cools, I pour it back into the cereal boxes for storage. The liners from cereal boxes have dozens of uses, so by saving then, you can reduce usage of zip top bags, waxed paper, and even parchment paper in times when no heat is involved (since the cereal box liners are plastic which could melt).

I love this man, been watching him since I was a lot younger then I am now. Thank you for all this fantastic recipes I’ve probably used your recipes more then I’ve used anyone else’s.

Ive been watching Alton since i was 10, and it still fills me with joy to see how much of a mad lad he can be in the kitchen. 20 years and hes still a crazy genius. And the rice crispy treat hidden in the box is pure genius

When we got a stand mixer, I had to make Alton’s marshmallows. Then I used those marshmallows to make Rice Krispie Treats. BEST EVER. Just sayin it’s worth it.

We are converted!!! Tried this today and the toasted cereal + the browned butter made a slightly carmel taste. We forgot the kosher salt this time, but know it will make it even better! usually i know what's about to go down in alton's recipes and appreciate the improvement tips but this time i was not expecting ANY of that! amazing!

Now for the a long version where we puff our own rice, churn our own butter , and whip our own marshmallows. We are stuck inside we need tasks.

Always a handy yet a very tricky idea. I love Alton Brown always have always will.

I so love your humor! I follow the directions on the box, plus add salt and vanilla. Once I add the cereal to the melted marshmallows, I add another cup or two of whole marshmallows. As you stir everything together, the marshmallows melt but stay together in the most yummy globs of extra goodness. They get rave reviews every time I make them.

Believe me if there was a Rice Krispies Treats Boy Scouts badge, I would have got it.

Alton Brown raised me via Food Network & is 110% the reason I'm the host of every family event & in charge of alllll the cooking that comes with it 💪🏽🥰..... And for that I also secretly cuss Alton out on holidays when I'm in the kitchen whippin & stressed to the max 😆🤣 No but really, since a very young jit, 8yrs & up I would be glued to the TV, watching Alton and taking in every golden nugget he gave throughout his career on the Food Network 😀. Some of my favorite memories as a kid include watching Good Eats with my food scientist dad, and making rice crispy treats with my mom on the weekends. Thanks for bringing back those memories :)
