Love you Alton!!! We can always count on you to make our days so much better to get through. You're my favorite!!! Wish I could meet you...well, not now of course...but after?
Plan A Wash dishes Plan B Don't wash dishes Plan C Put them all in a garbage bag in the bath and do it when you are over binge watching. Done that 3 times in my life!
For some reason the thought of feeding sour dough and kombucha had me thinking that someone was supposed to take home the class pets over break and FORGOT.
Alton, I love what you do. I love seeing your personality shine in these informal settings. It is really nice to see that Good Eats Alton wasn't a "character", but more of an slight exaggeration of yourself. Please keep this type of stuff up, brother. Keep Georgia on the map.
When theres an actual apocalypse and zombies are emerging on all major cities, the power grid has been shut down and all government officials are hiding in underground bunkers, I feel like we’ll all be here, watching Alton make spaghetti in his weird little abandoned kitchen.
Teavis there’s no cameraman . Alton is the only cat in the building. After this video, he’s gonna down to the Good Eats cafetería bar and chill with Lloyd the Bartender.
"You've probably got a bunch of food sitting around. Let's make some popcorn with it! So go to your pantry and grab that ghee, nutritional yeast, and furikake. But you don't have cheese powder, so order some off the internet for this next part."
I actually do have nutritional yeast and furikake in my kitchen, and I could make ghee from butter, so I'm good. The yeast is sort of like a cheese substitute anyway.
yeah this is extremely out of touch for a "pantry raid" recipe. I much prefer Glen & Friends for this type of series. Although much respect to Alton Brown he really does some great stuff.
Those were optional. You could also just throw on some Jane's Krazy Mixed Up Salt or Everything Bagel seasoning. It's up to you - that's just what he had on hand.
@@Panya.V His first strike was for leaving Mythbusters. His second strike was for rejecting my reality. His third strike was when he substituted it for his own.
Eric J wow! My whole life I had assumed it was a bacteria haha! Good thing I did my googling before I tried to correct someone on the internet this time :)
I popped some corn in ghee about a year ago out of curiosity and it’s life changing. Movie theater tAste without those weird carcinogenic fake butter compounds
Fact: at one point during the manufacturing of artificial butter flavoring, it is actually highly poisonous & unfit for human consumption. See "Twinkle, deconstructed" by Steve Ettlinger. Fair warning, you might find out some things you don't want to know!
@@TheBeavadelic Fact: at one point during the manufacturing of probably a majority of food products, they are actually highly poisonous & unfit for human consumption.
AB: "... Cuz I'm going metric now" AB: "We got an 8 quart bowl here" Do you mean a 7.57082 liter bowl? Yeah... Metric. Just cook stuff, both systems are fine.
@Harold Potsdamer i know you are probably correct, but the way you said it makes me want to kill myself to minimize my chances of ever meeting you in person.
I'll be honest: you aren't the force getting me through this disaster, you aren't telling me anything I didn't know. You're doing things in an entertaining manner, low key, I could watch you forever. Keep doing your thing, you are excellent at it.
dear Mr.Brown, watching your work has been a delight of mine for a while now, and at times like these, it's even more so to be in your virtual presence. thank you for the work you do
Here's what I could find on how to make cheese powder with the Cheetos Episode on Bon Appetit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H2nY7Tu1Qgs.html
Alton: "furikake" is "fu-ree-kah-keh" An easy rule for Japanese all E letters are "eh," all As are "ay" (like in "say"), all Os are "oh," all Is are "eeee," and all U letters are "oo" like "moot"
Your explanation was a little off. In Japanese, A makes an "ah" sound. In English, sometimes A makes this sound and sometimes O does, such as in block, fox, mama, or mahogany. E makes an English long A sound, as in bay, May, or cake. As you said, U sounds like oo, I sounds like long E, and O sounds like long O. So furikake is pronounced foo-ree-kah-kay.
Alton Brown the man who put my 2 favorite things on television science and food, and called it Good Eats. Thank you for existing, and thank you for this channel!
"Enjoy the popage ". Thanks for this, Alton. Clever technique, as usual. I don't even like popcorn, but I've enjoyed all your demos for decades, and it's a pleasure to just absorb anything you care to share. You're terrific, as always. Skol, namaste, and keep 'em coming. 🙏✌️🖖😋 By the by, since I don't like popped corn (leaving two hungry, unsupervised kindergarteners in the car at a carnival in 1962 - you could do that then and not be arrested- with a huge bag of popcorn, is a recipe for gastric disaster, and a lifelong aversion. We finished it between us. 'Nuf said about that), I got some whole sorghum grains at the health food store and will pop them soon. This is enjoyed often in Africa and India. I'll try it with ghee. It's also gluten-free and non-inflammatory, unlike corn.
I want to curse the people creating algorithms that listen to my conversations through my phone, but then Alton never would have shown up in my feed. This is the ONLY time I’m okay with the internet spying b/c I had no idea I can get my Alton fix on YT.
I didn't realize how comforting this video would be, but as soon as he started talking I was transported back to being a little kid watching Good Eats with my parents on a Saturday afternoon. Much needed in these scary times
@@immaculab.4231 That's also a good seasoning but they do have the elote seasoning which is salt, chile powder, cheese, chipotle, and cumin. An elote is street corn on the cob in Mexico.
Been enjoying you r content since the early days in Marietta, GA. I was living in Sandy Springs at the time. Great to see you're still at it and the best in the biz!
