In this video, I discuss the role of papaya leaf extracts in increasing platelet counts in diseases associated with very low platelet count such as Dengue fever and cirrhosis.
Do papaya leaf extracts work?
If yes, how?
If not, why?

This paper concluded that "current evidence is insufficient to comment on the role of papaya leaf extract in dengue."
This is the LATEST, highest-quality evidence paper on Dengue fever and papaya leaf extract use.
2. Treatment guidelines for Dengue fever from major clinical societies:

b. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: www.cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms/i... (does not feature papaya leaf extract)

d. Updated latest guidelines from National Library of Medicine: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NB... - specifies that "platelet transfusion is considered when platelet count drops to less than 20,000 cells/microliter, and there is a high risk of bleeding." - no mention of papaya leaf extract.
3. Low platelets in Dengue fever is due to multiple reasons - one single herbal extract cannot take care of all these causes at a time

I too had Dengue a year or so ago and didn't take papaya leaf or any extract. Just good hydration and nutrition and the count went up from 15K automatically on the 7th day.

I followed Dr Abbys advice of not taking papaya extracts even though the modern med doc who was treating me told me to have it. Also, the TN Govt ran and runs huge ads recommending papaya leaf extract as a cure all for dengue. Sigh.

I had a biology teacher once who was a doctor from a renowned medical college from Jaipur and he promoted this papya leaf extract concept for low platelet count and also undermined medical treatment regarding this😑😬

Don't know about platelet rise due to Papaya leaf extract but a lot of my Dengue patient's came back with loose stools after consuming papaya leaf extract. Initially I was puzzled why this was happening, reading of text books and management guidelines shed no light. On taking a detailed history I discovered a lot of these patients were consuming raw papaya leaf extract. After counselling patients to avoid this stunt, the incidence of loosies in Dengue patient's came down to zero.

Possibly due to high concentrations of cellulose in the leaf extract which is not inherently digested in the human GI tract since we lack the specific enzymes. Cellulose is a hydrophilic molecule and can exert an osmotic effect. Since it can hold water molecules, it increases the bulk of chyme and stimulates peristalsis. This could be a possible explanation.

It tastes sooo bad! idk what alkaloids give that zeher taste to it. I had dengue last month tootoo, was provided papaya leaf juice by sm1; took 1 sip and poured it down the drain. I recovered in a week. Never told them that I actually threw their leaf juice

Hello Sir, Please make a video on Alkaline water, as there's so many distributors of alkaline water machines are there in market, who are claiming that alkaline water is good to treat many heavy diseases like cancer, psoriasis, kidney and Liver problems, etc. Plus when we ask them about their claims in well known scientific journals, they asks people to go to the distributer's website for all the claims they're propagating. Even they propagate that alkaline water is treating covid-19 too. I think it'll be an eye opening for people to get knowledge from you on this topic.

Except the last line -" I think in future may be we may find some chemical in papaya leaf extract which increases the platelet count" The moment you send this video to someone, they'll take this line out of context and say - "See, he only means as of now we don't have evidence. In future we may find it. So it doesn't mean papaya leaf extract doesn't work." And all other explanation given till then will be discarded. Why did you have to say that 🙃

If you haven’t found any research paper on success rate of papaya leaf juice extract in increasing platelets then do your own research to understand if it works or not. Btw I haven’t bought any juice. I just grind the leaves for the juice. I had around 100-150 ML. Even it’s bitter it takes hardly 5 seconds to consume and that’s it Doesn’t know about others but For me it worked when I got low platelet count twice when I was in college. (I don’t have dengue, it’s viral fever) You are having bias and liking the comments that oppose taking papaya leaf extract. Anyways I had fruits also that time but only after having leaf juice it hiked. Let me do the experiment this time and let you know if it works again. I won’t have any fruits and even medications.

Sir my father has liver cirrhosis and an enlarged spleen.. His platelets counts go low. He's been taking papaya leaf juice and it does increases his count sir. Not tablets or capsules. Direct plant leaf juice. It does increases a little.

My father and I both had dengue fever at same time ,,but he took papaya leaf extract and i ignored thinking a leaf cannot cure dengue ,,,,,but his platelets went from 108000 to 200000 while my remained same ,,soo I think u are trying to influence us in buying more alopathy medicine and being dependent on doctors

You are right , now hospitals are rejecting allopathic medicines and using only ancient wisdom medicine , AIIMS have stopped using allopathic medicines , now they use ancient wisdom , even more and more students are pursuing ancient wisdom medicine than MBBS , MBBS colleges are not getting students , even Europe and America is using ancient wisdom of india for treatment
