When Marvin was a child and teen that had to be the 1950s and I'm sure when his dad walked around with ladies clothing and hair rollers ,it didn't go unnoticed, it was more than likely the talk of the neighborhood.

Marvin was Marvin III biological father (so he already had a son), he got Anna's teenage niece Denise pregnant. ...only Anna adopt him because Marvin could not adopt his own child. At first Anna faked her pregnancy so there would not be a scandal (and possibly to not be publicly embarrassed).

This book was very good so much so I purchased his brother Frankie Gayes book MY BROTHER. Marvin wanted tob die. I left an even bigger damn of Marvin and the stories were funny from his brothers perspective as a child.
