Paragliding Grindelwald (Berner Oberland) 

Well, it's long ago that I was there. But on that time we landed down at the river on the south side of Grindelwald. I think you should find it easily with google earth when look for the single hut on the huge meadow to the west of the railway station directly at the river. The valley station of the cable car is ca. 1.5km away. Here you can search for "Grindelwald BGF" in google earth. There seems to be also a landing place near to the cable car. But I am not sure if this is an official one, and the wind conditions might be more demanding there. Anyway, this flight area was one of the most impressive hot spots in Switzerland on that tour. It is really a pity that at 2009 the quality of the action cams was not on that level than today. The video could be much better with nowadays equipment.

Hi Claire, is this really your question? You can see the date at the beginning of the clip. 7-Aug-2009. Yes, more than 10 years ago. And the glacier is still there. I hope so ;-)

Der Gletschernahme ist mir momentan nicht bekannt. Das Problem mit dem Wetter- oder Mittelhorn ist, das du da erstmal hochkommen musst. Der Startplatz am First ist (hoffentlich hoch heute) schon genial. Meist findest du den Thermikbart gleich rechts. Mit genügend Höhe kannst du dann rüber zum Wetterhorn fliegen.

+Textilflieger Hallo, Danke für die Rückmeldung. Vielleicht aber vom Schwarzhorn zum Mittelhorn? Da habe ich ja etwas mehr Starthöhe? Ursprünglich wollte ich vom Mittelhorn aus zum Schwarzhorn fliegen. Höhenmäßig sollte das hinkommen, das Problem sind Turbulenzen. Ich weiß nicht, welche Bedingungen bei einem Start von so einer Höhe, und von solchen Bergen umzingelt, vorherrschen. Der Schirm ist ein EN-A Schirm, und somit weniger anfällig für Strömungsabrisse. Aber ich weiß nicht, wieviel Selbstinitiative erforderlich ist

+Textilflieger Ich bin noch Fluganfänger, und würde gerne wissen, wie du den Schwierigkeitsgrad der Strecke die du geflogen bist bzw. dieses Gebiets Berner Oberland einschätzt. Werde ich mit einem EN-A Schirm zurechtkommen? Voraussichtlich werde ich Ende März dort sein, allerdings habe ich keine Ahnung, wie das Wetter und die Thermik dort sein wird. Ist es für mich besser, tief zu fliegen?
