Absolutely nothing but respect for you Sir! 👏🏻 I'm worried as a below knee amputee about getting on and off the trike (I haven't purchased it yet) and then I saw your video here, I feel foolish now. Your Goldwing is truly beautiful. Thank you.
I'm a double amputatee and use wheelchair also . It was very tense watching you transfer without setting your wheelchair brakes . I've experienced several falls not setting brakes on mine . I haven't been on a bike in years and never ridden a trike . I would love to own one and the Goldwing 1800 is my dream at 70 yrs old . My wife agreed to ride with me. Thanks for the handbrake reveal w/automatic. Ride safe sir .
I'm a left below knee amputee and am considering purchasing a 2005 GL1800 trike. I haven't ridden since May 2017 when my wife and I were T boned by another motorcycle who's rider had run a stop sign. Lynn sadly died in the crash and I was left with life changing injuries. Over 5 years on, my life has changed dramatically, I've met a lovely lady and she is keen for me to ride again....not to mention ride on the back of the beautiful GL1800. My biggest concern is getting on and off the trike. My right leg is stiff at the hip due to lack of proper exercise. I saw a video where a guy steps onto the footpeg (gear shifter side) with his right foot and puts his left foot onto the pillion foot plate. He then lifted his right foot over the seat and onto the footpeg. I will try this but as the running board isn't weight bearing, I think I'd need a wider footplate instead of the stock footpeg?
Great tutorial Jarhead, Semper Fi. I have an '01 '02 Gl1800, damn envious of that DCT Trike though. BTW, 4 dislikes from sad individuals. I hope your lives improve.
Hola.
Mr Dains, I recently had an above the knee amputation, that same year my friend gifted me his 2017 CanAm Spyder RT. I was wondering if you could tell me where you found the Right-hand Brake handle Kit to make the bike accessible for me to ride. You talk about a kit but I was wondering where I might find said kit, herein North Carolina.
Now that was a great gift. Give the guys at isciride.com a call. They will need some details of what you have. May even be a good idea to take it to them for install. isciride.com/products/hand-brake-system/
I dont put it on the bike. I have another rider toss it in the trailer. Others will put the chair on the bike I prefer to have a trailer and haul it there.
I just bought the triglide as a para myself I regret the move. Harley Davidson will void the warranty if a put a hitch on it. Not sure how but I will tie the chair on the tour pack if necessary and GET MY MONIES WORTH out of that warranty!.... when it's up in 5 years I'll pull the trailer and get a new tour pack that hasn't been damaged by a wheelchair... Don't buy Harley-davidson handicapped people!
