The talking point that “irresponsible teens deserve consequences” when the consequence (for what? Being sexually active in a society that shuns sex talk at best, or raped at worst?) is an entire human being and a body irrevocably changed for the worse, has never sat right with me. Why would you force a _child_ to give up what’s left of their childhood for a grown-up decision? Our kids deserve better. Better sex ed, better protection from creeps, better access to contraceptives, better everything.

Or death. The US has the highest maternal mortality rate of all developed countries by a chunk and teenage births already have such a high mortality rate it was seen as unorthodox for teenagers to marry young/ consumate the marriage before about 18 (year up or down) bc it was very likely they would not survive childbirth.

the same people who talk about consequences for the CHILD also refuse to allow sex ed to cover topics like idk… consent. and safety. and get surprised when unplanned pregnancies skyrocket, as well as teen pregnancies and maternal death. truly baffling the lengths some go to to punish women for having sex lol

@@BeingBornAgain96 in Mississippi, an assaulted 12 year old was forced to give birth after the muddling of the laws meant their parent was unsure of if they could receive an exemption under the law, and doctors were reluctant to help in case they were prosecuted as a result. What kind of parenting are you expecting of a literal child who isn’t even finished with middle school, much less their own physical and mental development? How are they supposed to financially provide for their child, when they’re barely old enough to legally hold a job? Considering most abortions are done out of convenience....likelihood is a 15yo is being intentionally sexually active and careless. You could try to argue it's something nefarious like assault but that's less than 1%.

Most teen abortions could be prevented if everyone had access to free condoms and sex ed that actually talks about sex and not just reproduction.
@mitsusah2612
@mitsusah2612 2 месяца назад
This! And not just teen abortions. Studies show that those who become sexually active earlier (about 13-15yo) are also at a higher risk for unwanted pregnancies and other mishaps (such as STDs) later in life. I suppose that once you start your sex life the way you do it influences how you will do it in the future. So starting off with unsafe sex practices makes you more likely to continue those practices. You'd think that society would want to intervene before unsafe practices are adopted, but nope... Because talking about a major part of romantic relationships is too scary for adults...

Long post so here’s a TLDR: Pro-choice is not pro-abortion, we should not force people to do things they don’t want to There is a difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion. I, personally, do not want these fetuses to die. However, the mothers that are carrying the children may need to get an abortion for whatever reason. It’s their body. They get to do what they want with it. Sex? Sure, if they want to. Abortion? Yeah, I’m not going to force you to do anything. If this 15 year old was raped, would you want her to be carrying her rapist’s child and shunned by her dad? Perhaps even disowned by her friends and family?

I saw an ad that starts with a little girl, 11 or 12, I can't remember, walking into a clinic saying she's thought a lot about it and would love to adopt a baby. The receptionist obviously looks at her like 🤨 absolutely not, no ma'am. Then, a teenage girl, 15, comes in for an abortion and the receptionist informs her that they are no longer legal in that state. In what world do we live in where a child cannot legally adopt a baby, yet a girl essentially the same age can legally be forced to remain pregnant and give birth to said baby, then be fully responsible for it? Asking as a minor from a pro-life community who is genuinely curious and confused due to conditioning, why do people get abortions instead of putting the child up for adoption? I am a uterus-having person, but I've never been pregnant, so I don't know if it's a danger to the person who is pregnant or if they get abortions since they can't handle being pregnant as a child? I'm not trying to be offensive. I'm confused and no one in my family will explain it to me without lecturing me.

there are a lot of reasons. for one, adoption is not exactly all it's cracked up to be as a solution; it is incredibly traumatic for babies to have that maternal separation, and the stress that would come from tens or hundreds of thousands more babies being born and put on the state... it'd be very difficult to support that. the living children who have already been born, and are already in care, would suffer further. for those who distinguish between living children and unborn children, it is a no-brainer. the living kids come first. for another, pregnancy and childbirth can be incredibly dangerous, especially for children. a pregnancy could be career ending. it could force someone out of school. it usually will force someone to be financially dependent on a partner or parent. historically, the toll of pregnancy is a huge reason why women have been exploited in so many cultures. if you can be forced to be extra vulnerable for the majority of 9 months, at any time, and there's no way out, then your life isn't your own anymore. the systemic effects are staggering. also, an "abortion" is the name of any medical procedure that involves removing a dead fetus from a pregnant person's womb. it's a lifesaving procedure in cases where the baby dies and mom is at risk of sepsis. they're important for that reason. a lot of people who are pro-choice are not really pro-abortion though. literally just pro-choice. if someone's body is going to be used as life support for 9 months, they should get a say in that. they should get to say "yes" or "no." even if it means another life dies. people can't even have their _blood_ drawn without their consent, even when that blood would save a life, because at the end of the day their right to body autonomy is crucial; pro-choice folks just want that logic applied to pregnancy as well, because otherwise, afab people and women will always be more vulnerable to exploitation. however, there's an even more important point. one thing we can all agree on is that fewer unplanned pregnancies means fewer pregnant children, and fewer people having to make this choice, and fewer abortions. and we HAVE ways of reducing unplanned pregnancies! bulletproof ways! these include comprehensive sex ed in schools for teenagers, and more access to safe contraception. we know for a _fact_ this reduces unplanned pregnancies and abortion, and relieves a burden on the state bc fewer unwanted kids are put up for adoption/foster care. it _also_ helps to address the burden of pregnancy on pregnant people, by giving them a say in whether they want to get pregnant in the first place. so really, it's in everyone's best interest to vote for more contraceptive access and more education, whether you support freedom of choice or not. it becomes a little bit... curious, then, why the politicians and speakers who claim to hate abortions the most, _also_ are against contraceptives and sex ed. despite the fact that they'd decrease abortions drastically. see where i'm going with this? in the eyes of lawmakers, the incentive to outlaw abortion is the same as the incentive to get rid of contraceptives. they want sex to remain inherently linked to pregnancy, which is really really _really_ bad for women. it's not about reducing abortions at all, it's kind of secondary to them. a lot of "pro-lifers" don't have the good heart that you do, they have ulterior motives. i have tried to be as comprehensive as possible, hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions!

Well, basically, abortions are typically done in cases where the mother or child would not survive birth, or if the mother or child would be severely injured/diseased by the birth. Death and debilitating illness are typically things one would not willingly choose to go through. However, there are other reasons why someone may choose an abortion over carrying and then adopting out. Labour and childbirth is very painful, post-partum psychosis and depression are not uncommon, medical bills are very high for births, time taken off of work for maternity leave goes entirely unpaid in most cases, and there's always the chance that a person may not want to deal with 9 months of constant sickness. And, of course, there are several laws passing in southern states that give rapists power over their victim and child, as well as punishments that are being considered for women giving children to the state for adoption. Hope this helps ^^
@mattai075
@mattai075 2 месяца назад
Pregnancy has a massive physical toll on your health. Giving birth is often not something you can just walk away from after a few days, and being pregnant for 9 months has additional impacts on your ability to do certain activities. For someone from ages 12-18, the risk of complications is high and both the child and the pregnant person can die as a result. Furthermore, giving a child up for adoption in a system that has no way to ensure that every child is given to a loving family is not a good solution. People get abortions because of health issues, possible complications, because they didn’t choose to become pregnant and aren’t ready, or an inability to care for the child when it’s born. Abortions protect physical and social safety of anyone who can become pregnant.
@angelkinq6727
@angelkinq6727 2 месяца назад
hi so there are a BUNCH of reasons for this,for one pregnancy can be an incredibly traumatic experience, there are often complications, especially at a younger age. The person may also need medication in their daily life that isn’t compatible with pregnancy that they would need to ween off of at the cost of their own health- there is also a lot of shame involved with being visibly pregnant (of course there is with abortion too but hopefully it will become less judged by others) and all this isn’t even mentioning the fact that SO many things can go wrong at birth.

I DO believe there should be a law for MINORS being able to have an abortion because if minors legally can’t consent then they shouldn’t be forced to carry something that could harm their young body. How messed up is that? You know I get that it's not always simple and yes it is a life-changing thing to have a baby. But why are we allowed to take someone else's life that is so messed up. You can say it's her body her choice but what about the child's body that is literally ripped apart inside her womb? What is our greatest human right? Is it the right to life or the right to choice? If life, what about their right to life? If choice, what about their choice? Our rights do not allow us to endanger others. No matter how you look at it, it's wrong. @@meganludwig3781 Procreation of a child is the natural outcome of engaging in activities that create a child. It is unnatural to force a women to give birth to a dead child by having an abortion. An abortion doesn't simply zap the growing child out of their mother's womb but forces a woman to deliver a child who is no longer alive. In the case of rape, an abortion is not going to undo the trauma but instead perpetuate violence against the mother and the child. Abortions allow people (especially boys who don't want to be men) to not be accountable to the consequences of their own actions. As a generation we've been told that we can have relations with no consequences and so people engage in sex and are surprised when the baby making process actually makes a baby. That child is a unique individual who will has never existed before and will never exist again. To encourage further discussion on this topic, please think of all the little ones in your life. When do you think their lives began? If a baby already has the first start of a heart and heartbeat around 5 weeks after conception. If it's not right to end the life of a child right after they're born then why is it okay to do so before they're out of the womb? Women are so much more capable, strong, and resilient than society wants to believe. Especially with the incredible amount of free resources for pregnant and parenting women, don't you think support women to take accountability and be the badass women they can be without telling them that they need to take the lives of their children to succeed would be more productive. One final thought for now, 20 to 22 weeks have been the earliest a baby can survive outside the womb so far. Why not have the baby be delivered early then and give them the opportunity, a chance no matter how small, to live instead of deciding their fate and having their mother go through the trauma of delivering a child that they elected to end the life of. I'd have no where to go and with my mental health I wld end my own life. would you rather sacrifice one unborn life or sacrifice that unborn life and the life of a teenager who could always have a baby again in her adulthood?

Maybe teens shouldn't be having sex it's that simple. Wait until marriage. Sex isn't some thing that you do just for fun, it used to be something special between two people who love each other. I also think that teens shouldn't have sex bc of 1. Pregnancy and that in itself is tariffing for a kid to go through 2. Bc they are kids and a guy could just be using them to say oh ya I had sex with so and so and vice versa. We need to not allow kids to have birth control bc it messes up hormones and if they stay on it for to long they can have fertility issues in the future. Birth control is still an untested drug don't just give it to your kids.

birth control helps a lot of teens in more ways than just preventing pregnancy. maybe we should let medical professionals treat their patients instead of spewing nonsense on the internet. (i’m aware that there can be side effects and consequences of birth control, but it should be up to the individual and their doctor to decide if it’s right for them and if the potential negatives outweigh the positives or not)

It’s when a person who is pregnant and doesn’t want to be pregnant goes to a doctor and says they don’t want to have a baby. The doctor uses a tool to go into the uterus and (for want of a better word) sucks the baby out. Gruesome. I have had one (15). I still greave. I’m 60. It was very much the right choice for me at the time. It was painful, both physically and mentally, but it was the right decision for me.

An abortion is brutal dismemberment and torture of a baby and hurting them step by step. It's brutal dismemberment. Slow torture of a helpless fetus. That's what abortion is. Fetus is "little one" in Latin. So it's picking on someone tiny!!

Being under 18 doesn’t inherently protect you from getting pregnant. You can still get raped and become pregnant as young as 12, and forcing a child that young to carry an infant to term has immense physical and mental consequences for that child.

Can people please quit using teens to support your beliefs? I was fifteen when i chose to step up and raise my baby after her dad SA me. She is the light of my life. Things were difficult but we overcame a brief homeless phase to be where we are today. Please know being pro choice is also being ok to tell a young girl she is capable of keeping her baby and utilizing resources and finding a community who will help her. In spite of being kicked out of my home and everything else I overcome, my daughter's life is not worth less to be the example why other young women aren't ever told "you CAN do this." If you've never been on the other side, please use someone else's life circumstances to promote your ideology. You can start with your own.
