I played chess against a guy called Johnny whilst visiting Washington Square Park in NYC last summer! (This park is known for having a ton of chess players and chess hustlers). This was one of my most memorable chess games from NYC so I wanted to share it with you even if it was a while ago, hope you enjoy! :D

If you have read the Percy Jackson series and then the hero's of Olympus series both by Rick Riordan then you should read Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods because this park and Johnny are in it. Not by name of course but I'm pretty positive and the park is a setting in the book.

This is exactly what i was thinking while watching, specifically because he repeats himself a lot then makes a quick move. just like the other guy said, he would usually talk a lot and make a quick move, I guess to confuse her but it made him look very suspicious, idk about this one but he also looks away very often, when she is looking at him, I guess because he wants her to look in the direction he is looking but that oucld just be me. anyway, there were some moments where he did some weird moves, like muving a piece 2 spaces. He did 2 quick moves after talking and she didn't notice, and then there was a moment where he made a bishop jump a pawn and that one she noticed.

One of my favorite quotes that Johnny may like: "To win at chess is to exercise skill. To lose at chess is to gain skill." Ole' Johnny definitely gave me notes on how to teach my son in an enthusiastic way, both in this video and the one where he plays Anna's mom. Shows how we learn from different people in many different ways.

It's part of his game. Friendly, repetitive, not-always coherent chatter that distracts and breaks any rhythm or concentration. I came to this video to watch the game, I didn't even remember the game after he was talking about his student. I hope this man gets his script written and his movie released! He seems like an amazing soul! My personal thoughts resonate with him on the idea of "it's not about the destination, it's about the journey" and I wish humanity revered it in the way this man does. The only criticism I have of this video is that the title should have been a nod to how kind and "real" this man is. It's incredibly rare to find people like him in this world (or perhaps I'm not in the right place?). Had to watch this one twice. He is a treasure and thank you for sharing this interaction!
