Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd responded to a jury's decision to recommend life in prison for Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz rather than recommending the death penalty.
During his remarks, Sheriff Grady Judd said, "If there's ever been anyone on the face of the earth that deserved the death penalty, it was that evil, violent, murdering piece of trash that massacred those children."

@@user-yl4zq5vu9d I don’t believe I said anything about the murder being morally correct. Everything the murder did was heinous and sadistic. There isn't anything that is going to make these family members feel better. Nick Cruz could be hung by a rope, shot in the head, tortured to death and they are still going to suffer and go through years and years of pain and hurt. If he had been shot at the scene they would not have felt any better. Grief and agony is going to occur. Nick is in prison for life with no chance of ever getting out. He is young still but one day and late at night he will have to face his demons. And he will either choose Christ or hatred. The best thing would be for him to become a witness for Christ. To spread the gospel to those in prison. God is a God of miracles. He can use Nick Cruz still for His good. Paul in the bible tortured and killed thousands of Christians, yet God saved Paul and used Paul as a witness. While I sympathize with the families and cant imagine their pain, I also hope God will bring them peace and if they are not saved may they give their lives to Christ also. That their hearts may be healed. And for the greater good pray for Nick Cruz and his salvation.

If ever the death sentence was deserved it was here . There was , nor could there be , anything that would have mitigated his guilt in this . The only way he didn't get the death sentence is someone sat into that jury box having already decided their verdict , thereby breaking the oath they took as a juror , in short they lied . It's a travesty heaped on to the tragedy of the cold blooded murder of those children .

I am from Kentucky. A retired Probation and Parole Officer. Some observations and questions. During my tenure as Probation and Parole Officer (1977-1997) an inmate could be released on parole after serving 7 years on a life sentence. Then laws were passed. Parole eligibility after serving 25 years on a life sentence or half of a definite term. That was ruled unconstitutional. Juries were giving 75 year sentences. Unofficially in Kentucky In addition to the possibility of the death penalty, punishments for capital offenses include life without parole, 25 years to life in prison, or 20 to 50 years of imprisonment. (I don’t know if life is an option) It appears from reading online, that Florida does not have parole at this time. I see there is a push to reinstate parole. What happens if parole is reinstated in Florida? Does he become eligible? It appears that he did not receive a Life Without Parole sentence. Maybe a Jury should only decide guilt or innocence?!. Then you have Judges who may give him less if they can.

Prison isn't a punishment anymore, man. There are a few things you can’t get in prison that you can get on the streets. Cell phones, TVs, snacks, food, cigs, cocaine, weed, alcohol, meth, pills, sex with your significant other during visits, all kinds of crap. I saw more drugs in prison than I've ever seen on the streets. I had zero responsibility, no bills, and no stress, and I could read and truly relax. It was like a vacation, only because I was so stressed from work in the civilian world. But truly got to do anything. Guards would bring us Mcdonalds; I paid the guards $100 each time my wife visited so we could have an office and would have sex on their desks. It honestly was the most relaxed state of mind I had in years. I had zero problems with other inmates, because I didn't run my mouth or disrespect anyone. They should have hung this dude and not wasted the taxpayer's money. The inmates won't target him because he's not a chomo, pedo, ex-cop, or snitch, they may if someone gives the green light, but I highly doubt it that will happen.

Chances are greater you would vanish and be filled with so much shock and anguish that you wouldn’t be able to process your own reality. It’s one thing for horrible accidents to happen….but brutal (and i mean REALLY brutal murder) In this life or the next there would be a reckoning. That doesn’t need to be shouted out on social media the DAY after it happens. We all see it get perpetuated “Hey yall, my kid was killed today” on FB? The whole world needs to wake up and re-focus on building a society that THRIVES instead of perpetuating all this madness. If the birth rates drop, and there are no children…well…there’s no future and no hope. In the end, none of our opinions matter. This happened, and once the parties stop with the popularity contest, societal reform has to happen. Teachers, Professors, Fire, Police, Healthcare need to be the highest paid people on the planet. If a jury is not acting in good faith, the judge can overrule them, they are the judge after all. Hell, a jury should ONLY be in charge of guilt or innocence, not punishment in the first place.
