This Parmesan Crusted Flathead is a family favourite. In this flathead catch and cook, I give a few fishing, and cooking, tips. Today I'm fishing Port Phillip Bay, in Melbourne, Australia and fishing with soft plastics.

Loved the tips Mark, I'm hoping to get down to Melbourne this year and chase a few flatties myself. Maybe we could catch up for a fish together if you're interested? I like your suggestion of cooking the similar sized pieces together, it really helps with not overcooking your fillets. Looks delicious mate!

Thanks! Yeah, would love to go for a fish! The flathead are great eating, this is pretty good and easy dish too. Could be nice on Redfin as well.

I use 10lb braid with a 10lb fluro leader, for flathead.

Why are you keeping such small flattie? I know legal in NSW is 30cm but man they are very small for eating

Yah, legal size in VIC is 27. I normally don't keep anything under 32, but if I just need one or two more fish, to make a meal, or if I just need a fish for a cooking vid, I will keep one or two small ones. These are also Yank Flathead, not dusky, a huge one is only about 60cm.

@@marxfishing Thanks for your reply. I live in Brisbane near the Gold Coast and we are used to catching big Dusky Flathead. I guess the Yank's just are smaller than Duskies. Thanks

We should be seeing some warmer water soon! it's be a cold, slow winter here. Yes, the yogurt doesn't work quiet as well as egg does, but it adds a different element to the flavour.
