Outstanding demonstration! Thank you MotorCity Mechanic. I have an '02 Ram w/the 5.9 gas. i'd like to see as many vids on that 02-08 range as possible. these are very thorough and helpful

Always glad to help. Thanks for the feedback about the video. I am always glad to help. I dont get to see any 5.9 gas engines come in to the shop anymore. Being at the dealership....there is a point when they finally stop coming in as they get older. I will certainly try to film one if one ever does come in for a repair. Hey Dave great videos..could you do a video on common coolant leaks for the 6.7 cummins ,I know your busy but I think ALOT of ram 2500,3500 owners would find it useful..Thanx God Bless and Happy Easter

I have 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with 545 rfe transmission it have black plug for the solenoid pack could you switch them out with a white one

can ask some question?. i change the solenoid pack on the cherokee 4.7 engine in it has a 65rfe trans. once u shift in drive it takes 2 sec. to engage..

There is a quick learn procedure thats recommended to have done but usually it doesnt have any affect on the delayed engagement. If you did have this issue before than I would first double check everything and also make sure that the trans filter seal didnt come loose or isnt seated correctly. If okay then trying a quick learn using a scanner that has that ability is recommended as a possible try.

I took mine out. What if that plate on the Valve body is stuck and wont move back in fourth ? Vehicle stuck in park. That plate with the grooves on the valve body wont move

@@MotorCityMechanic quick question, what if that new part is a week or 3 away? Could a guy just remove the broken piece to get it to shift and be able to move it out of the way until the new part arrives? This would be on a 68RFE in a 2023 ram 3500. I know the shifter wouldnt have that positive lock feel but would it be able to shift like that?

Great video! I've always been intimidated by valve bodies but this one doesn't look too bad. Do you recommend a drain and fill or a flush when changing trans fluid?

It just depends......I feel the most important part is the filters being changed. A flush removes the old fluid and installs new.....however it doesnt remove any debris that may be in the pan or include the filter replacement. Its hard to say and a bit of an internal battle I have with myself sometimes. If I was going to service a transmission that does require routine filter changes then I would more then likely recommend the first change to be a fluid and filter replacement and then the next time the service comes up , the fluid and filter change with a flush. Its really a gray area and Chrysler doesnt recommend any flushes on the transmission in the service maintenance schedule. Sometimes it depends on the price of the fluid as well. The flush machine we use holds 12 qts of fluid....and that can get pricey depending on the transmission.....ATF4 not so much. Thanks for the question Corey. Hi. Do you bother trying to find where the roller went.? i mean i know it should drop in the pan (trapped by the magnet) and makes no damage but just curious

Actually the roller was found as soon as the pan was dropped. It had made its way to the pan with no issue. Thats how I usually find it and know right off the bat what is wrong. In some cases it might rest on top of the valve body. Thanks for the question and dont forget to subscribe

Hey David ....I have a question....I have a '14 dodge 2500 with the 68rfe trans 4wd , I'm doing a trans fluid & filter change do I have to drain out the fluid in the torque converter or will it drain when I bring the trans cover down ...also when I install the new trans spin on filter do I have to fill it up with oil or just install it ?

There is no way to drain the torque converter on these transmissions. There will always be some fluid inside that a drain and fill will not completely get out. As far as that spin off.....I just install it and not worry about pre-filling it. The system is not dry as I mentioned before due to whats in the torque converter so no harm in the filter being empty on install. Thanks for asking and for watching.

I dont....you will need to contact you local dealer and give them your VIN number and then go from there.

hi question 2011chrysler 300c. when i turn the steering wheel there is a slight grinding sound. not a whining sound that would indicate power steering. it more of a grinding creek sound. what could it be?

If the sound is more inside and near the steering wheel then I would lean towards the clockspring. If the sound is more towards the bottom of the steering column then I would recommend removing the rubber boot going thru the firewall and lube it up incase is dry and grapping the the steering shaft as its turning. +MotorCity Mechanic thanks dave. i have another dilema now. when i put car in reverse the rear camera doesnt engage. it just stays on the radio screen instead of turning the camera screen on.

First item to check is to make sure the feature wasnt turned off in the radio menu. You may have to play about with the menus to find it but make sure it was somehow turned off for some reason. The other option is to have the radio checked to see if there is a software update avail. There is a bulletin mentioning different radio issues including the camera that a software update was created to help resolve. It may or may not have an affect. Finally having it checked for codes would help as well to make sure we dont have an obvious issue with a code attached to it to help us diag further. It requires a special scanner capable of accessing all the modules on the vehicle to check to see if any related to the camera.

Hey, great video, I have the 545rfe in an o5 grand cherokee 5.7, u said in the video the linkage would cause it to not change gears, what if the transmission will change gears from park, to reverse, from reverse to drive, then automatically drop itself into 3rd gear???

Christopher Husk I have same vehicle and my transmission once you put it in drive it manually downshift to 1st through all the gears when I hit the gas
