PART 1 - I walk through the steps to replace a water pump in a 2014 Honda Civic.
This also includes the steps to remove the serpentine belt since it needs to be removed.
The alternator also needs to be removed in this process, so you can see how to remove and replace the alternator as well.

Some tools and parts needed:
10mm wrench
10mm socket and ratchet
8mm allen wrench socket
screwdriver or clip removal tool
drain pan
Replacement water pump & gasket
I used: ACDelco Professional 252-978 Engine Water Pump
You can use the OEM Honda coolant or pick something made for Hondas such as:
www.amazon.com/PEAK-Extended-...
This procedure should work on 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 Honda Civics

Hi , great video , I have a question, , was it to hard to remove the tensioner 8mm bolt? I’ve heard that is hard to get it loose
@DIYGuyUSA

No, these bolts don’t have that much torque and they were not rusty.

Were you able to get yours off? I'm almost ready to replace the water pump and need to take off the tensioner.

Are the 06-11 water pumps same as the 12-15 civics? I ask as there is a different part number for both but 06-15 water pumps and even tensioner and alternators look identical!

No, I believe those are different parts.

I’m having a hard time getting the tensioner bolt off the 8 mm Allen key one. Does it turn towards the car or away from the car? When I’m doing it from the top do I push it Towards the car or away from the car?
@DIYGuyUSA

Counterclockwise. So if you are going from the top, you would push towards the windshield. From the bottom (standing in front of the car), you would pull up.

Where can I find a Diagram of how the belt goes on? I checked the owners manual and did not see one there.

Sorry, I don't have that. I took some pictures before removing the belt. You should be able to find this diagram online as it is a very common engine.

Just curious....Why did you decide to replace the water pump at only 77,000 miles?

Mine had a small leak from the weep hole. That is a sign it is failing.
