late to the build but this is really cool. I'm struggling between this, the TJ dana 44, or custom Dynatrac axle.

Hi, @kraft off-road great work! I’m doing the same swap and I was wondering how did you connect the rear disc brakes and Ebrake combo? Did you have to run new hard lines al the way to the front? Thanks you guys make a awesome team!!!
@BuiltDifferentGarage

New hard lines were ran. We don’t have to e-brake hooked up yet, that’s something we have to figure out.

What lift are you running? spring & shock manufacture specifically and how is the ride? I've went from two JK rigs to an 05 TJ Rubicon w/4" RC long arm, 4" Rustys 4" springs with Rubicon Express shocks and ride is bouncy and sucks. Ive heard the TJ wont ride as well but this is night and day different. Your thoughts and like your videos.

I currently have a 4in RC long arm kit with RC shocks and Springs. I am replacing the springs with Rock Krawler Coils front and rear. Shocks I’m still trying to decide what I want to go with. It will either be Bilstein or Fox shocks. I have been quite happy with the RC setup, for the price it’s done everything I have needed it to and more. The ride for me hasn’t been too bouncy and I have been happy with it. I also have a JK that I drive and it’s so much smoother than any TJ I have driven. I think it’s just the technology in that being newer, etc. Another thing I have noticed is with the Axle swap my jee has been riding A LOT smoother.. it’s actually mind blowing to me. So much more comfortable on the highway. A problem for me that I have to address is the weight of the Jeep. Which is why I’m trying to change out the springs and shocks to something with a lot better quality.

The ride on road isn’t as bouncy and uncomfortable as it is off-road. I want better springs and shocks for off-road drivability and quality.

@@BuiltDifferentGarage i just went with the Bilstien 5100 shocks on my 2k TJ 4" lift and it made a huge difference. I'm thinking about going with the Metalcloak springs
@BuiltDifferentGarage
@BuiltDifferentGarage 3 года назад
@@clarkdrago I need to do that too. I’ve heard good things about the 5100s. I appreciate the comment! Thank you!

Are the wheel spacers really needed after installing the wider axle??
@BuiltDifferentGarage
@BuiltDifferentGarage 2 года назад
I didn’t have JK wheels at the time. These are TJ wheels so yes I needed an adapter to make them fit until I bought JK bolt pattern wheels.
@discover4x4

Makes sense. Ok cool. I'm putting a set of JT axles in a TJ in the next few months so that's for the video

This is exactly what I’m trying to do. Did you buy the axles with the conversion already? How much $ are you into the swap?
@BuiltDifferentGarage
@BuiltDifferentGarage 3 года назад
I bought the axles with everything stock on them from a JK. I got the front and rear for $1500 total. I bought the front and rear Artec Truss/conversion kit for $900. We can weld but not extremely well haha so we didn’t want to risk messing anything up. We had a local off-road shop do all the welding on the axles. That came to $800. Around $3,200 right now.

Kraft Off-Road man it looks great. I get the frustration with the drag link and track bar. I’m trying to figure out everything. Imma add you on Instagram if I have any questions I’ll pick your brain!

What size tires are you running and what's the wheel offset if any?
@BuiltDifferentGarage
@BuiltDifferentGarage 3 года назад
37x12.5x17. The wheels that are shown in this video I am not sure what the offset is. I’ll have to go back and see what I can find.
@gregmacklin9758
@gregmacklin9758 3 года назад
@@BuiltDifferentGarage thanks for your response I really appreciate it. I'm working on building my 2002 tj and for as many of them out there that have been built there not much in the way of information. I'm planning to run 35s or 36" tires but scrub angle is very important to me.so the offset +or- is critical.
@BuiltDifferentGarage
@BuiltDifferentGarage 3 года назад
@@gregmacklin9758 got you, completely understand! I’ll see if I can find it and I’ll let you know. Now the wheels that are on it in the video are TJ wheels with an adapter so be able to bolt them up to the JK axles so they sit out a lot further than normal.

Did you do anything to change the caster?
@BuiltDifferentGarage
@BuiltDifferentGarage 3 года назад
Yes. They front axle had to be rotated back. The arms had to be adjusted to do that.
@WilC379
@WilC379 3 года назад
@@BuiltDifferentGarage So you didn't have to cut the axle tubes and rotate the C's back ? Any issues with drivability, or is this a mostly trail rig?
@BuiltDifferentGarage

@@WilC379 Nope. I drive it hours away for trips as well as almost daily driving it. It drives and handles great, better than ever before!
