Jesus that's scary! What if it suddenly lurched forward while you were doing that?? Back in the 90's I used to load auto racks and one day while they were pushing cars into our yard the train was still for several minutes. It was blocking an intersection and a guy on foot got tired of waiting. He thought he'd hop over the coupler and be on his way but he got more than he bargained for that day. His foot got stuck between the car and the back of the coupler! Thankfully we were near by and heard him screaming so the supervisor burned rubber in the truck to alert the guy with the radio so he could tell the engineer not to push! He got a trip to the hospital and then probably to jail.
Hi Shoestring, like watching your videos. I could never do that and just ride the rails. I think I like creature comforts a little too much. I might do the Amtrak railpass thing when I retire in a few years and see the country from a comfortable train window though. Keep on riding for as long as you can and enjoy life.
For the love of God what are the chances? Looking for a class C 6 Hopper/ride and the only one so far on about a half mile of train literally comes to a stop right in front of them?
Hope all is well in Tennessee I watched all your videos and even though I don’t know you I look at you like you’re not all of min I watched all your videos and even though I don’t know you but it seems like I do we have so much in common I am actually suffering from non-drinking cirrhosis of the liver and I also have a blood clot on my portal vein so trust me brother I know exactly what you’re going through I would love for one day when me and you both get well we should link up and catch out i’ve always wanted to ride the tracks I have always love freight trains and everything about him and the freedom of being on the road I’ve hit steak all over but never called out because I had no clue what I was doing and I didn’t have a death wish so if you’re ever out there and would like someone to ride with and wouldn’t mind teaching on some of the ropes I’d love to catch out I hope you all the best shoestring and if you need anything brother don’t hesitate to shoot me a message I understand fully what you’re going through and we all need help sometimes I’m lucky and I have a Lotta support so if you Help like I said don’t hesitate to message you take it easy buddy and I hope all goes well with the surgery you’re a dandy shoestring and what I seen you’re a strong man so everything will work out God bless you
Boy great life. Hanging out in the woods. Trying not to get busted. To crawl up in an uncomfortable hole. An listen to the noise. Think it get old. Have at it. Lmao
I'm glad you survived. I hopped a train around the north side of Lake Superior once. It had many emotional effects on me: Many times I felt so paranoid that I would be caught and subsequently sent to jail. The morning air was crisp, clean and cool; the scenery was incredible that I felt inspired. By-the-way, part of my adventure was recreated by Brave Dave ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hUg0jFO7NTo.html . The video is only 2 years old with over 2 million views...you should do the same. Go with a thirty minute monetized video format to get yourself $200 a month for years to come. When it rained I was super miserable. I had sense to travel with a plastic tarp and wear a winter coat in the summertime, but I still got cold. The loud noises kept continually surprising me. Adding up all those pluses and minuses, I would say everyone has to try and travel this way once to have a complete and full life.
You know what I think that's cool as shit that you replied are u riding now ? Where u heading? Do u ever make it to Altoona PA we have that horse shoe curve .if u ever make it up here hit me up I'll show you around
Trespass 1 is the only crime an agent can charge you with if walking or even hopping trains. That's just some rumor riders spread about it being a felony. If you were to break into a railcar it'd certainly be a felony then
Boxcars are the best and hoppers too. Google hopper railcars to see what they look like. I have a blog showing what cars are good and bad if you Google Hobo Shoestring you'll see the link to my WordPress blog you can see pictures and read about different cars I ride
As many of your videos as I've seen I don't think I've ever heard you mention it besides the two flags hanging on you're back pack. I think it's awesome you're a vet and thank you for your service.
He was riding in Florida in Alligator Alley and a box car ran over a 13' long mud gator. The gator was slung upwards and it caught the rear brake wheel and then grabbed the brake wheel with its tiny front legs but then it slid down into the hole of a grainer where ole Shoestring was hiding out. That caused Shoestring to awaken and by then the gator had already eaten 2 of Shoestrings fingers. Shoestring stabbed the gator and put the best meat in his carry-on bucket for grilling later on. He made some terrific gator gumbo back in camp. Shoestring tried sewing the 2 fingers back on, but he ran out of his thread so he just stitched the area up. So that is what you see.
