I added the PWC Collars to the ski, and this is the first time out to give things a go and test. I am also trying out the Kokatat Tempest Semi-Dry top. The PWC Collars do add more stability to the ski, however, I got the smaller size (called Medium) and I see that I need to get a larger size, as I ride heavy because of all the equipment I have to have on the long trips. The ski handles as before with no impairment of my turns, and the ski hooks up to the water just as good as stock ,imo. Because I have to get on and off the ski so much in South Texas to clear the sea grass from the grate ( no IDF on my 2019 - boo hoo), and because of this and my weight ( I am a hysky 290 pounds), and all my gear this makes my center of buoyancy above the craft's center of gravity, and the ski, when tipped if I stand on the side, will roll and once it gets past a certain point the the water will fill the footwell, and cause it to roll more. I will need to the Extra Large size, and I think that will help a lot. I was still pleased at their performance however.
Ad additional bonus, for me at least, is that they deflect the spray more away from me and that is a real plus. I did not mount the rubberized spray guards in front of the collars and things worked out fine. Perhaps others on other skis may need them, but I was fine without them.
You will note a different fixturing attachment - just my preference as I do not mind putting holes in my hull. It is a tool for me - not a show car.
The Kokatat Tempest was really a great addition to my equipment. Kept me dry, and hence warm against the cool water and evaporation from the constant spray.
