My one complaint about Alive II is the production..it just sounded too damn hissy! It should have been engineered the same way Alive! was. Also, the tempos were a bit rushed. The first time I ever heard "Rocket Ride" was on WERC "96 ERC" 960AM in Birmingham AL! in October of 1977!! It blew me away!
@@spaceace1006 Yeah, the tempo on God of Thunder is way faster- but it's the same tempo as the demo that Paul sung and wrote of that song... And I liked the "rushed" songs. I agree on Rocket Ride... I had that album too in '77 like u. :) It was so exciting edit: maybe the hissing was supposed to be the crowd cheering all thru the songs lol. idk
i was 12 at the time.... the album cover was mind blowing... but i was pissed about side 4....i thought.... what a gyp.. it's not even a full concert 😡......it says they didn't have enough songs for a new album yet.... plus the song credits tell ya...they were solo songs... not even collaborating with each other...cracks starting to show... when I saw the credits for anyway you want it..(D.CLARK)..at that age i thought it was dick clark 😂... hadn't yet discovered the mighty dave clark 5 !...i agree too...sound quality was abysmal... constant screaming through EVERY SONG 😩 gave me a headache...it was all pkging.... visually exciting but sonically flat 😒
I like it too ..the drum beat is cool n original and the bridge with Ace's solo is way cool(!) Baby Driver is better tho U can easily hear Gene's good, cool background vocals on both songs, too.. Good stuff
"I have pictures." Funny how Gene conveniently "forgets" the pictures of Paul Stanley wearing the red SS uniform with the swastika armband from that same time period. Oh, the *hypocrisy* .......
I think love gun is probably still my favorite Kiss record and the nostalgia factor still gives me chills.

For many years I held the debute as a fav but for the last 10 years Love Gun has taken that place. Even though it has three weak songs and “Kiss” has none, it’s the whole package. The album cover, the sound, the band tight as hell, Ace debutes.. it’s their most solid album from the 70s
paradoxically the glorious days and the start of the downfall to Kiss. My favorite album, outfits, front cover album, stage design, merch, i love "Love gun" 🔥
well the song Love Gun is good that Album isn't that Great. BUT IF you Remembered when it came out i can see how some fans would love it Rock and Roll Over i think is their Best 70's Album
It's to the point where I wish I could get an injunction so as none of the band members could speak to each other....ever again....That would shut things up.
Hard work then, gets reality and ones dreams ...Love Kiss as Kid in UK, Got me playing drums, Still love ACE and Peter though, but admire all the hard work, the hard way up. They earned it ...Respect.
Here's an interesting bit of trivia. The guy that painted the Destroyer album cover also painted the cover of the Love Gun album. Sadly, he recently passed away. Love the cover. Would have bought any Kiss album, at this point. Let's face it, it's not hyperbole to suggest that Kiss was : The hottest band in the land, by the time Love Gun came out. Once again Really good songs are on thst record. This is a true story. When I was in high school, we had a jukebox (really!) The number one played song was Love Gun. The second most popular was Boogie Nights by Heatwave. The Kiss fans, me included, would walk past the juke box while Boogie Nights was playing causing it to skip violently
paradoxically the glorious days and the start of the downfall to Kiss. My favorite album, outfits, front cover album, stage design, merch, i love "Love gun" 🔥
Yep. Gene can imitate Ace the best. Gene was never my favorite member, Ace was. But Gene loves Ace to this day. If it wasn't for Paul and Gene had it his way, we'd be seeing Ace on stage, not Tommy.
They really shouldve taken a 6-8 month break after Alive II, and then done a studio record. Fuck the solo records and that movie. They just completely oversaturated the market with product
I agree BUT... in the music business when you are HOT, you can't afford to take a break. You have to keep hitting the road, the cameras, the media interest while the iron is hot, because there's always a younger, rawer, hungrier band waiting for their chance to rise up and strike. The first album is always easy and great because they have nothing to lose, but the moment a band gets signed and they have a hit, the pressure is greater to churn out the next big hit, compete against the other giants and continue to produce "product". They may let one flop go, but after that, you run the risk of getting dropped by the label. KISS had too much to lose so they tried to capitalize on whatever came to hoard up as much money as possible. In this industry nothing is assured. And when you have 2 of 4 members in the band rowing in the opposite way, you can well understand why Gene and Paul whine a lot.
@manolokonosko594 You must have missed the part where I said "they oversaturated the market," which is why people were sick of them. Def Leppard: 4 year break between "Pyromania" and "Hysteria," yet still sold millions. Van Halen: 3 year break between "OU812" and "F.U.C.K.," still sold millions. People need a break from anything being in their face so hard for so long
@@skipthebase In the end, as I just said, it was too much KI$$ all over the place, and people got burned out on them. We will never know what we could've gotten from them had they taken time off, but we know what we did get: Dynasty, which was pretty weak, and two decent Ace songs from his solo record
I don't like the way gene and paul talk about ace and peter...they never realised that we fan love ace and peter and we don' t want ti hear bullshit bout them.Ace was one of the reason Kiss really made it!
3 facts: 1 Shock Me is the best song on LG 2 Rocket Ride is far and away the best of the D side Alive 2 3 Aces solo effort is far and away the best #TempleOfAce
Every one of these is just Gene and Paul talking about how Ace and Peter were worthless…meanwhile never address how Rocket Ride was the best thing on Alive 2. Peters drumming was so unique, and his voice is legendary. They don’t get it
Well..first you have Paul who made KISS top priority. Gene..who also wanted to do his best, but he had issues as well. Ace who was lazy and irresponsible. He thought that he was too special to help haul equipment in and out of venues. "I shouldn't have to carry sh*t!" Then Peter who wound up getting ousted for sabotaging shows on stage.
They are not bashing Peter, they are telling the truth. I've read all there books. Ace is very good, Paul talks about his insecurities, Gene is all about Gene and Peter is just crying.
They are not telling the truth!!! They are bashing a living legend drummer and guitarist!!!! I have read the books as well, and Peter is the most honest, he doesn't throw anyone under the bus, but he also states a lot of facts!!!!
I think the fans all know the truth. Ace and Peter were traditional rockers. Rock was supposed to be a party. Not serious. Gene and Paul wanted structure and business. That’s why it worked. Once Ace and Peter left…it became something different. Not bad just different. That’s why I’m just a fan of the 73-78 band
Several of my friends were in various opening bands during the reunion tour. They told me that Gene would walk up to their girlfriends and instantly talk about blow jobs. That’s all he’d talk about then leave.
I don't know but to me only a man that is insecure continuously has to brag about his sexual conquests I love the band but I always felt that to be off putting
It's hard to know what to believe in these stories. Ace, who at their first gig refused to move his gear and on the tours described in this video did drunken nazi stuff to Gene's face, yet instead of having been left behind and forgotten outside that club with his gear - like any real band would do to such a lazy slacker - or, in the case of the nazi bullshit, not being left with two crushed hands out in the street somewhere, Ace was brought back for the makeup reunion, is still in talks about being on the farewell tour, has had Paul play on his solo album, has had Gene pop up for dates with Ace's solo band. In the real world, a dude that lazy, a dude that off "unavailable" for studio work, a dude who would do a nazi gag to Gene's face should be a dead man or at least a minor footnote in Kiss history. The same for Peter - the moment he went asshole Tony Soprano on the wait staff at that early restaurant gathering saying he quit as Paul and Gene walked out on him, Peter should have been a nobody forever after... but no - Paul and Gene both enabled him to remain an asshole drug addict that often made their lives miserable in the band dynamic. If all Paul and Gene's stories are "true," then Ace and Peter are not to blame - if you're placing blame, you put it squarely on Gene and Paul for being enabling idiots that got everything they deserved. If Peter and Ace were truly that bad, they would have been left in the dirt a long time ago.
I agree with you 100%. It’s sad that Gene and Paul keep putting all the blame on Peter and Ace. They needed them. Peter was a better singer than anyone an Ace could play the guitar better than Paul could ever dream of. I just hate hearing them shit all over Peter and Ace in these ‘diaries’
And don't forget about the time Paul Stanley dressed up in the red Nazi SS uniform (complete w/ swastika arm band) and did the "seig heil" arm salute. Guess what, Gene? WE HAVE PICTURES, TOO, FUCKFACE.
Personally, I think it was really f*cked up. Since I'm an Evangelical Christian, I take great exception to any Jewish Person being subjected to sh*t like that! I was raised by Anglican Parents who taught me to love and respect the Jewish People.
@@spaceace1006 I'm a Christian too, brother. And if u read the New Testament, Paul clearly states that because of Christ there is now no distinction between jew and gentile at all. And Revelation chapter 3 has some harsh criticism of them: "synagogue of satan" is one of them. Nearly all of them reject Christ and spit on Him- just like Gene. Sorry that u can't see the humor in what Ace did. Oh, and btw, Paul dressed up like a nazi too that night. There's a picture of them dressed up like that in the book that Lydia Criss made. As u know, Paul is also jewish... It's funny because it's so absurd. Paul thought it was funny. Why can't u? I respect the jews too- but only because they're generally good, productive citizens- not because they're special. They're not.
well let's be honest.... the nazis did have cool uniforms.... insignia... helmets...boots... Luger's...etc....u don't have to agree with what those brainwashed sadists did... just dig the look 😒
The whole thing with Peter not being able to do certain things on the drums is surprising and shocking 😮 only because he was picked to be the Kiss drummer 🥁 when I listen to the kiss albums, I still like them, it drives me crazy when I listen to the constant tension going on between Peter and the rest of the band, if he was so bad, can’t read music, can’t do this won’t do that, it makes me cringe 😬 because Paul always says they were a band, Peter Criss must of been a good enough drummer & singer to be in Kiss atleast through the 70’s, I just get disappointed when I listen to Paul bash Peter every chance he gets to, if things were that bad, replace him then, why did they constantly have to bring in other drummers to play his parts according to Paul he was bad on just about everything they did musically, you never hear other rock bands bashing their drummer like that
Hey Gene you have to know Ace got the two SS in kiss from natzi waffin SS what’s concerning is you new that but allowed it, it wasn’t lightning bolts like Ace tried to say.
Blah , blah, blah. The same old shit of blaming Ace and Peter for everything. I find it hard to believe that Peter couldn't play the kick drum part to Love Gun.
Paul knows He and KISS wouldn't be where they are and went without Ace and Peter! FACT....it was the Chemistry in and off stage that made it happen! 👍😎
After 10 parts, why didn't Gene & Paul tell Ace & Peter to p*** off and then get 2 people that wanted to be in the band? Geez, what troublemakers! In any regular workplace those 2 would have been given the sack.
5:40 - No, you didn't spend a decade in bands that went nowhere. Peter was in Chelsea, and they released a record before KISS. Can you say as much?Y ou were in ONE BAND - that went nowhere, and it could have gone somewhere if you'd just released the Wicked Lester album. I am so sick of the Peter-and-Ace bash-a-thon. You couldn't work with them, I get that! It's nearly 20 years since you've had to deal with him. Shut up already!
I wish they would bash Peter Miss more often he gets off way to easy ! They had to get someone to come in to play the single Bass on the drums for him REALLY ? Eric Carr & Singer tore it up on Double Bass ! And the Drugs must of really got to Peter Miss. Bragging about singing a song that if someone out of the crowd or off the street could Sing Beth & the Girls still would of went crazy over it ! It was a freaking ballad it was gonna be a Guaranteed Hit with anyone singing it ! They should of let Peter Miss to have his career in Doo Whopp , Blues Smooth Jazz.
