-Rock N Roll Over with Eddie Kramer -Paul/Gene discover Van Halen Taken from: Gene Simmons - Kiss and Make Up Paul Stanley - Face the Music: A Life Expos
My favorites will always be Dressed To Kill, R&RO, & Love Gun. Even Psycho Circus was a total letdown. After that, it was comparable to ordering a steak and getting the cheapest cut of beef anyone could buy for under five dollars a pound.
Rock & Roll Over is the only album that even came close to capturing what the band actually sounds like. I've always wondered why they didn't record all of their albums, at least the music, on a stage, as a band.
Bands didn’t do that in the 70s. Even if they’d had access to a mobile unit, like Zep and Purple did, they’d probably use it in abandoned hotels, resorts and places like that. Engineers want separation between the instruments, and concert halls give you the opposite.
There's an enormous difference between a live show and the studio. The studio is about perfecting a song. Live music is more immediate and energetic with power behind it.
@@knowsmebyname the members of kiss have said all along that they have tried to capture the live sound in the studio, and completely failed with the first three albums. you're arguing with the members of kiss here, not me.
Paul is a delusional narcissistic jerk and he thinks Peter and Ace are not important. The fact is that without them they would still be playing in bars lol.@@romangarcia608
Nope Mr speed boring Take me filler Baby driver boring See u in your dreams filler Love and leave em I want you Makin love only decent songs on there The rest of the album is boring filler crap Bob ezrin anyway over Eddie Kramer sorry Charlie
Back in the 70s Alive! & Destroyer were my favorites and Rock And Roll Over was barely played but over the years RARO has become my favorite studio by the band.
My first album ever, my mom finally got me a kiss album, i was in Lazarus department store in the record department staring at the kiss alive album. It was so cool in 1976. I was 8. I got the rock n roll over album because i just heard calling dr. Love. When i got home i played the entire album over and over. I have been a huge fan since 1975. Im not now with them touring as a tribute band with others in ace and peters makeup. But man i still love these memories. So apart of who i am. Awesome
Peter sung Black Diamond, Hard Luck woman, Beth, Strange Ways, Nothing to lose and need I say more!!! If it wasn't for Peter none of them great songs would have been shit
Hard Luck Woman was so damn great, Peter knocked it out of the frickin park!!!! Stanley said that the drums 🥁 were tinny!!! Lol 🤦♂️ I didn't know Paul was such a expert on drums and changed his name to Neil Peirt? Lol
Paul wanted to get the song Hard Luck woman to Rod, because he was always jealous of Peter and his vocals, and knew deep down that Peter had one of the best voices and soulful voices in the 70's!!!! Paul definitely loves him some Paul and was a very good song writer, but he doesn't understand that, Peter sung Black Diamond, Hard Luck woman, Beth, Strange Ways, Nothing to lose and such!!!
I agree, I am a die hard Peter fan, he admitted in his book that after the Phantom of the Park movie, he and Ace were miserable and cashed out mentally!!! Sad, because I love the Catman!!!
They piss on Peter like he was worthless. This band went Disney, “Years ago”. Ace has new music coming out and touring 11,11,23. Go see him. It’s totally worth it
And yet, they shouldn't ever piss on a living legend drummer, ridiculous!!!! I get so frickin mad when both these two delusional narcissistic assholes bash Peter and Ace!!! Disgusting
Great album. I think it’s one of Kiss’s strongest. Criss sings his nuts off on Baby Driver. Oh Paul, the drums are an instrument…..🙄 Gene: “there are plenty of things myself and Paul did without taking credit for.” Gene is modesty personified. 😆
In fact they were so impressed with the Catman's live stuff that they said it was perfect for what they were looking for on Alive!!! Ask, Paul and Gene how much they had to dub and edit???? Lol
One thing to say.... 10,000 VOLTS ⚡⚡💥 Ace Frehley....Karma does happen buddy! 👍😎 Rock on and congratulations on the success of the new album! It's eating Gene and Paul alive! 🤣
Bebe Buell shacked up with Todd Rundgren and Liv Tyler grew up thinking he was her father (the dad that stepped up or whatever). Todd's band Utopia was around the same time as Kiss.
Paul and gene talk a lot of crap about pete and ace specially paul. Yet even with eric and tommy being as good as they are kiss is just not the same. Also without ace and peter they wouldve never gotten as far as they did
Listening to all of these…it’s absolutely nuts how much Gene and Paul (especially Paul) downplay any and all contributions from Ace and Peter. It’s crazy to me that they just don’t get that it was the unique sound that the 4 of them made together that was the magic. Not the fact that Peter was the “best drummer” or that Ace “didn’t live up to his potential.” Not once do they give any credit to Peter about anything he did for the band. It’s a shame!
Agreed totally!!! Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic and in their prime untouchable!!! 73-78, well early 78, Peter and Ace said that the Phantom of the Park movie 🎬 is where they were absolutely miserable and the coke and booze and all of them weren't speaking to each other as well!!!
Paul is a lying scumbag and has no idea how much stamina and physical toll playing drums for a 3 hour show!!! Peter was amazing and very talented!!! Piss on Stanley
Rock n roll has history with rockstars and drug's. Peter and Ace aren't alone. Im listening to these videos and hearing paul and gene rip everyone. For paul having insecure feelings he sure blasts people. Its always "my band" per paul and gene. I think when kiss started they were a band. It seems prior to destroyer paul and gene's heads were inflated. They alienated peter and Ace. Now i know they were party animals however look at Aerosmith, eagles, led zeppelin etc..the bands supported their band members. I feel they didnt. Then from there no wonder why they didnt want to go into the studio if they felt like sidemen. Yes ive been around druggies and it isnt fun. However support is needed. I would have understood if kiss took some time off back then for a few year's rather than have some crappy albums and members leave. They had money.
I've listened to all parts of this series of videos up to this one. It's very interesting but do you think they could maybe trash Ace and Peter a little more? 😅 Seriously though, they could have fired them at any point before the band got too big or hired a pro like Bob Kulick in the original auditions. If Ace and Peter were so bad and brought so little to the band why stick with them for so long?
I don't think it was a lack of anything Ace and Peter brought to the band. I think it was personality traits. I love Ace Frehly. He totally made me want to rock. But he was a total alcoholic. The word "Unreliable" sum's it up when you need someone to deliver, and they don't or can't for whatever reason.
Since Gene and Paul are talking about Bob Ezrin and how he took charge during the recording of Destroyer I was curious about what they (KISS) might have been thinking while making this record. I do reverse speech study. Some think it is just nonsense but there are a group of people who have the ability to understand what it is that I do and what i have found when doing a song reversal. I took Flaming Youth and reversed the chorus and in it you can hear Paul say that if you really listen you can hear that they (KISS) need him (Bob Ezrin) meaning that Paul felt that KISS needed Bob because of all of the great groups Bob has produced in the recent past. here is rthe link to that video I made for a different channel I started a long time ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EseCsYhXCBY.html
@@DrJ-hx7wvWhat is the us, do you have a turd in your pocket? Peter is a frickin legend, and who the fuck are you? Nobody knows you, definitely have no business even commenting on one of the best drummers on the planet in his prime!!!
Not true, it wasnt nazi if that's what you think. they were originally lightning bolts drawn by ace, Paul defined it to be actual s letters to mat h the rest of the logo
I don't really blame him. These guys' batshit behaviour risked ruining everything Gene and Paul had worked tirelessly for. It wasn't Peter and Ace who set up the first gigs and touted for agents/management in the early days.
Bullshit, Peter and Ace were the real talent and heart and soul of the original lineup period!!! Fuck Paul and Gene, they would have been living in a scumbag apartment playing with Wicked fuckin Lester people, if they didn't audition by the way 40 drummers and guitarist and it cracks me up that Peter and Ace won the jobs, and these stupid ass narcissist idiots, keep bashing them? Disgusting
@@kevinchadler469 everyone knows Ace and Peter made the band complete. The problem was they were ruining it all by their behavior. No band can survive like that. They both have admitted to this. Yes BOTH. They talked openly about the cocaine and alcohol problem. That’s why Paul and Gene were frustrated.
Peter said in his book, duh of course I wouldn't be John Bonham, nobody can, he's the best!!! I am sure Stanley thinks he is a Robert Plant, frontman as well? Ridiculous
Paul sounds like more of an egomaniac the more I listen to these interviews. Peter had the best vocals, Ace was the only true rocker, Gene was the best character, and War Machine and God of Thunder have held up the best of all. Paul was a good rhythm guitarist and manager type. Detroit rock city was awesome though.
Tired of Paul and Gene bashing Ace and Peter. Paul and Gene are no Lennon and McCartney. Trying to sound like musical virtuoso is sad; Peter and Paul provided many of the band's highlights and were a lot more fun.
I enjoy listening to these perspectives but I don’t know why Paul or Gene felt the need to write books where they really trash the other two and air out their dirty laundry and brag about sexual conquests. Do they not have enough money already?
I think if it was slash and john bonham in kiss instead of ace and peter they would be talentless pos too i was such a huge kiss fan when I was a kid yeah ace and peter were fuck ups they've admitted to that more than they have needed too but what paul and gene have been doing to discredit them and disrespect them the last few years is dispicable im not a fan of Tommy Thayer i am a fan of Eric Singer especially when he was with sabbath
Blah, blah, blah. Is this episode 2 of "lets talk shit about Ace and Peter". So exhausting listening to Gene and Paul trying to take credit for everything and making everyone else the only problems with the band.
Agreed, totally!!! Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic and the real talent and heart and soul of the original lineup!!! Paul, you did write Hard Luck woman, and let's hand it over to the best damn voice in the band!!! Peter knocked it out of the frickin park!!!
Fuck, from the sound of things Peter was just propped up there behind the drums with a stick. Hes with the band how long before Paul decides Peter doesn't even know how to play drums. I saw them twice with the original members and I was totally shocked to find out later that Ace couldn't play guitar either. Running around like a fruit on stage is what the fans want.
I don't know what the fuck you are talking about, but I know for a fact that from 74-78, Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic and one of the top drummers and guitarists 🎸 in the world!!!! So, you keep listening to Paul and Gene being narcissistic sociopath assholes and bashing living legends!!!@ lol Team Peter and Ace always, even on coke and booze they were better musicians than the delusional two greedy bastards!!!! Enough said
That was sarcasm and apparently you couldn't figure that out. I started out as a Kiss fan in 1978 when I was 9 years old. I use to listen to my parents Kiss Alive ll on 8 track. That year for Christmas I got Destroyer and Alive l on vinyl and it changed my life forever. Ace was always my favorite and I dressed up like him for Halloween that same year and Ace was my inspiration to start taking guitar lessons. I always liked Peters voice and thought he should have gotten more credit as well as Ace. Strange Ways and Black Diamond live Peter just kills it. I know Ace and Peter had some issues but I wouldn't say they were the first members of a rock n roll band to drink and do drugs. When you have one of the biggest narcissists in the world as a band mate you know things are going to go south. You know I'm talking about Gene and Paul wasn't far behind. Ive seen KISS live in concert 5 times. I saw them on their Animalize tour, Revenge, I was 8 rows from the stage at the opening reunion show at Tigers Stadium. I went again for their Physco Circus show on New Year's Eve in Detroit and their end of the road tour in Detroit. Over the years I got so sick and tired of the way Gene and Paul had to go and ruin the band that I worshipped since I was a kid. They talked shit constantly about Ace and Peter and the way they treated Eric Carr was enough for me. When they got back together it was like a prayer had been answered. The two shows I went to were amazing and I could have died after that and everything would have been fine. Then the bullshit started again and every fucking word out of Gene and Paul's mouths was more shit talking and blaming Ace and Peter for everything. I'm like fuck this shit again. Then when you thought it couldn't get any worse they committed the ultimate sin. They put Eric and Tommy in Ace and Peter's makeup. That was unforgivable to me. Whenever they were in makeup and had new members they got their own persona. This was done out of nothing but greed and you know how greedy those fucks Paul and Gene are. I swore I wouldn't walk across the street to see them for free. I was done with Kiss and it bummed me out because they had been there with me for all those years. I never would have gone to their last show in Detroit for their end of the road tour if it wasn't for my son and some incredible tickets that came my way for practically nothing. My 16 year old son begged me to take him so I kept all that shit to myself so as not to ruin the experience for him. They put on a good show and I'll have to admit when Paul was talking about what Detroit meant to the band and this was the last time we would be together like this it did something to me. It made me feel like I lost something that was a part of me even through all the bullshit of the past. There are some things that didn't make me happy about the concert as it seemed they were still taking jabs at Ace and Peter but I already wrote a novel as it is. Sorry but I have much to say about the band and trust me I have a grasp on things more than most people. I did nothing but eat, sleep, and breathe Kiss.
@@channelx92 Calm down there speed racer!!! I love Peter and Ace and they absolutely 💯 percent my favorite of the original lineup, which is the only lineup!!! Sorry, hope I didn't hurt your feelings buddy!!! Goodnight
@@kevinchandler179 You in no way hurt my feelings. It was late and it was one of those tired but I couldn't sleep nights. I didn't mean to go on a rant. I just wanted you to know I had a clue about Paul and Gene and I totally agree with you about Ace and Peter.
Is it even possible for Gene and Paul to reminisce about the band's heyday without incessantly shitting all over Ace & Peter? If they were truly as unbelievably horrible as humans & to work with, what does that say about Paul & Gene for going along with it for so many years?
Because, it is all lies and jealousy!!! They talk so much damn shit about Peter and Ace, but they know that they never would have been huge if not for Peter and Ace!!!
