Part Two! The final components to reassemble on the front coupler of my Cat299D!
Getting to see all the nice powder coated components getting reattached is great! We decided on cherry red to help this Cat299D stand out on a jobsite, and give her a little more pizazz.
It's not essential to solder connectors that are crimp style, but because this part of the tractor is under so much strain, I wanted to make sure all my connections had as few failure points as possible. I also used standard Electrical tape as well as Silicone tape, to help keep environmental debris out of any connections.

Just wondering if you noticed the quick tach actuator was re mounted upside down. Not sure if that will case any issues for you down the road.

I do have a video coming out at some point that talks more about how I choose it and what I paid for it…. But that might be a while as I catch up on videos. So I paid 32k for the machine and 2k for the 6 way dozer blade and 2k in shipping from Pennsylvania to California.

Thank you! I found a 2010 with 3100 hours at an auction. So I’ll be planning to bid on that. I like how your taking it apart and fixing it up. I did just buy a Takeuchi excavator

@@crf50crazy one thing to look at is the current series. I’m guessing that is a B or C series? I think they made a lot of changes from a serviceability stand point when they switched to D. Take a good look at the undercarriage too if you can. I love my CAT and I have a bobcat, kubota, jlg, and genie now. CAT seems to have the best parts catalog and availability of parts. CAT also puts a part number on every single part! For example, I bought a 2003 bobcat excavator and I am finding out the hard way that bobcat pretty much stops stocking parts for machines after 7-10 years. In fact no one at the dealership had even heard of my machine. I will be making videos on that too.

Very interesting! The auction has it listed as a cat 259 but the serial number and stickers say 299D. So I’m hope for a good deal. I bought by dump truck at auction because they had it listed as a stake body but I knew it was a dump bed. I have also been looking at older Takeuchi

@@crf50crazy oh that’s very interesting! Ya, some of my best deals have been mislabeled Craigslist and auction items too! I am pretty sure the D series did not come out till 2012-2014. The serial number can tell you a lot though. Feel free to reach out to the email in the profile if you want to chat more about that.
