Years ago the propane company I worked for reconfigured the 4 giant storage tanks we had and added 4 more and part of the process involved all new tank ports. The contractor did a lot of arc gouging to create the new openings and bevel them to weld in the new ports. Now about 31 years later I finally understand how an arc gouge works. Thanks for the information. If DP would listen to you he might learn a thing or 2 as well. 😉
I’ve been spending the winter hardfacing and fixing excavator buckets in our shop( I’m normally an operator) I’m really enjoying fabricating and welding. Keep the videos coming I want to learn all the tips and tricks
Man, lots of work on that trailer. DP is going to dock your pay for that snowball fight😂 great content on all the steps that you have to go through to get the job done. Keep your videos coming, great work 👍🇺🇸
I’m right there with you when I first looked at it but after studying it the weld really doesn’t do anything it’s wild how it works the actual plate that it’s welded to does all the work thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Saw the Kiewet sweatshirt. In the 60's Pete Kiewet and sons was building the Minuteman missile silos in South Dakota. My dad worked for them as Communications manager, dealing with all the radios they used. They also were heavily involved in the construction of the original Interstate system here. I believe they were based in Norfolk NE at that time.
prep is 90 perfcent of our job and makes the end result much more professional looking i actually volunteer to arc gouge at work if not welding tubes i enjoy it and everyone leaves you alone lol
Very good explanation of the AIR ARC GOUGER I asked you about a couple of weeks ago if you do in fact use an AIR ARC GOUGER . If Mr Perfect had placed the ears for the pin's in the wrong location they could have been gouged off and welded in the correct location . What would be interesting is a video from inside your welding helmet of the actual gouging process . We need to see more videos , you need 10k subscribers . Great video Aaron . Good night from central Arkansas .
😂😂😂😂 I would have loved if they were wrong and I would have had to cut them back off oh he would have never heard the end of that lol 😆 the air compressor was just big enough to run that gouge it was all she wanted
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 Might be a couple weeks . He’s doing body work and had to Order windshield that just cracked. I told him no hurry. Grounds covered and Keeps snowing here so not much work .
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 nice I saw you got the frame painted looks good !! That trucks going to be wild when it’s done ! I have the same engine big cam 👍👍
Arron I was watching Mike's video on this trailer repair. I have the exact same trailer and have had to repair the lift cylinder mount plate support like you guys did. Yours looks great. The only thing to maybe think about is where you put the gusset by the air bags. I did much the same thing but over time it started twisting the bottom of the main "I" beam. So I put another gusset from the outside of the bottom flange up to the inside of the top of the "I" beam. Think of the top gusset setting at an angle from the outside of the bottom flange to against the middle of the top flange. Anyway, since I did that it stopped the twist on the main "I" beam. It is just tight there with the air bag mount being so close. Keep having fun and busting Mike's chops. LOL
Aaron I do not know if you have used one before but cotontop3 has a circle cutter for his torch. It seems to work pretty good. If you haven’t used one you might check out his shop video’s. I need to find somewhere around here where I can take a welding / cutting class. I dabble a bit with welding but am not the best by a long shot.
Never knew how the king pins were put together! 10 hits and out she pops. Those gouge rods are alot like our exothermic torch. Except cheaper and appears to be easier to use. Pretty cool!
You are doing absolutely awesome with your channel Aaron! Your a true natural on camera and your skills with the welding are incredible! Handy guy to have around wish you weren’t 12hrs away 👍🏻
I could feel your pain... admitting that DP did good job on the layout! Just don’t let him scarf up any credit for the rest of the build... because anyone can swing a big hammer and turn a king pin into a queen! Keep postin... I’ll keep watchin!!! PS... I posted a build video on my channel... but, it doesn’t show off my legendary weld grinding expertise!
Man there is several I mean several times we needed them now we got them so thank you a matter of fact we just used them the other day thanks for watching
Get a pin in the top of that CONE holder, the CONES have a habit of flipping off when you go down the highway and a gust of wind dodges around the cab .
SNOWBALL FIGHT, fight, fight, fight .... All right guys it's all fun and games until someone gets brain freeze! NOW put down the snowballs and get back on the shortbus.. Remember Frank Zappa's infamous words "Don't Eat Yellow Snow".
Great video your welding levels are awesome know nothing about it .but the way the waves roll are bad a s . O yea thanks for letting me know it was going to be loud I use headphones .and half you did.well great job keep it up Ken from Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh area )
Good job. I was watching I C Weld replace a kingpin collar on an equipment trailer the other day and his torch work is outstanding. I suck pretty bad cutting with a torch, lol. I suck at welding too, but that's for another day.
Your right about that but when this machine was put back together backwards the controls are screwed up we have got to fix it sometime lol 😆 thanks for watching Mark 🤙🏻
Awesome job on the low boy Aaron you welding look like artwork buddy pristine 👌 thanks for sharing mate where would dp be without you I dunno 🤷♂️ 😂 just curious if you could do a video on your welding supplies like helmet jacket etc that you use thanks for the video champion 👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
Nice work on the trailers. It would be really nice if you could go over the basics with us on welding. I have a MIG/ARC welder and a Plasma cutter and would like for you to tell teach us a little. Thanks.
Good Morning Aaron, yes we know better. LOL... So many empty Pepsi tins Eish... Aaron you must let Mr D Perfect clean the dirt out 1st 🤣🤣🤣 Have a good weekend as well Aaron..
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 Always a pleasure to watch your creations Aaron, the least I can do is leave you a comment, even better if it makes you laugh 😁
You can tell how good someone is by how easy he makes the job look. As far as the garage door is concerned. I'm willing to bet that you were not the first to hit it. Are you sure D.P. didn't put the caution tape on there? Another question. Did it hurt the hitch? HA HA! The only thing wrong with this video is that you had to put up with D.P. HA HA! Great video. Be well and safe.
