Part 27 of the R8 Rover 216 GTi twincam resoration vlog.
Not going to lie - this session the car was annoying me, my ancient MIG welder was annoying me and lack of space was annoying me. These are the realities of car restoration in a small garage.
On the plus side, I press-formed a small patch panel using nothing more than a bench vice, bits of rubber cut from old car floor mats and a socket from a universal wheel nut (lug nut) tool. Not quite 'rubber press forming' (look it up) but near enough. The rubber acts as a support and helps form the shape by acting as one half of a die mould'
Did start welding on the patch but the welder decided to break so had to strip it to find out why.
