The technique in this video is purely an experiment as I don't have a stud-welder or slide hammer for dent removal. For some time I've had this idea floating around in my head so as I needed to tidy up a crushed part of the chassis rail/box section on the floor pan, I thought I'd give it a go. Not seen anyone else on social media use this method so might be making history here.
Because it's a test and there is a risk of things 'letting go', you must wear PPE including eye protection.
Basic setup is a long steel strap (1.2mm thick) is tack welded to the section of metal that needs to be pulled and the end of the strap is clamped to the top of the jack. Lots of potential for sudden failure hence the importance of PPE. I'm sure there is potential in this method with some modifications to the jack. Also - as I found out, the welding and repositioning of the pulling straps caused the thin steel on the chassis rail to work-harden and tear.
