Part 45 'Outer sill rust' 

Investigating outer sill rust.
The passenger side outer sill/rocker panel is in slightly better condition than the drivers side but it does have surface rust where several separate panels are spot-welded and bonded together. I used a wire brush on an angle grinder to remove the worst of the surface rust but I really need to use a grit blaster to get into the tiny rust pits and crevices formed where the floor pans, wheel well, outer, inner and membrane sill panels overlap. I've seen worst rust on much younger cars so can't really grumble about rust on a 1992 Rover.
As the sound of an angle grinder with a wire brush being used isn't pleasant, I added some music supplied by You Tube.
