Welcome back to our RU-vid channel, everyone!
It's your hosts, ARNE & CARLOS, and we are back with our white sweater. We've been hard at work redesigning and improving this sweater that's been a bit of a wardrobe challenge for us. From too-short sleeves to an uncomfortable high neck, we are still at it.
In this video, we'll take you through our journey of unraveling the old yarn, re-knitting new sleeves and cuffs, and transforming the sweater into something cozy and wearable. We discuss the quirks of its construction, including its unusual knitting technique and the challenge that we have faced along the way.
Despite the mismatched yarn colors and some unexpected decreases, we're determined to salvage this vintage find. Plus, we'll show you how the elasticity of knitwear works its magic, making adjustments to the neckline and discussing potential future alterations.

If you put a band of black patterning on the sleeves, to echo the front pattern, you will never notice the difference in the dye lots of the wool... a lot of work going into this...

You asked us to tell you about the projects we knit while watching - I am knitting a NORO cowl - it is my second one. Last fall while traveling in Oregon with my favorite Aunt I loaned my cowl to her because she was cold - and she loved it! So.....of course I have to knit her one to give her this Christmas! It is a very relaxing knit made even more enjoyable with your content! Thank you and Happy Spring! (I live in Reno and I am looking forward to meeting you in person in just a few weeks!!!!!)

Thank you guys for always having something of interest for everyday living, travel, common sense and humor. Luv the time it takes to give us a glimpse of your lives... from the rainy April morning here in eastern US watching the goats and sheep in the field that is greening up.

Hello from Canada! Just found you two and am so happy to learn the ‘proper’ way of knitting. I am a Dane brought up here and learned to knit from my mother. When she had difficulty following English patterns I learned from a friend’s mother how to read them but in so doing had to learn the British way of knitting. Now I am returning to my roots and it is so much better. Have some catching up to do on your podcasts but looking forward to it and enjoying Carlos’ knitting and purling videos. ❤❤❤

Looks great! I don’t like working short rows. I only remember doing them on yoke sweaters back in the day, they were fine.

I respect that sweater's knitter! Note the stranded design that only exists in the sweater's center--a real thinking Maker.

I couldn’t stop looking at Arne’s hair after he took the sweater off! I had to go back to see what it looks like before he put the sweater on. Carlos, you needed to reach over and tousle it for him 😂 Fun project!

Nice work! I'm currently making a sweater with yarn from my stash (old Patons Classic natural melange color) - it's a rustic Aran designed on the needles. But I didn't have enough yarn, so I reordered Natural melange color Patrons Classic - instead of cream, it's a very light grayish brown. So the sleeves and collar on the sweater are going to be a subtle contrast color. It doesn't matter!

Thanks guys this was a fascinating video. I do this with my sweaters when they show signs of wear & usually have to buy a ball or two of yarn to complete & of course it is never the same dye lot but hey at least it’s unique to me! Looking forward to your next post. Take care 💚💚✌️✌️

If I was worried about the new color on sleeve addition, I might try adding the black in stripes…would minimize the appearance of color difference.

I like the motif on that pullover. I think you should consider incorporating it into new designs, eg a cushion, cowl, etc. BTW I just took your Geitestrikk off the blocking mats and am wearing it! I purchased the kit in October 2022 in Tromsø Husfliden (I think) while on your coastal cruise.

It might have helped to knit the sleeves in helical knitting, alternating the old and the new yarn with every row.

Guys! If your clothes continue to "Shrink" in your closet, perhaps you should have a discussion with your personal "social directors" (you both) and discuss changing some items on your cruise and travel menues. I have a bad feeling that there is a direct correlation between your closet shrinkage issue and your wonderful meals while travelling. Just saying you should think about it... Love you both - such sense of humor and wonderful stories to blame issues you encounter.
