Considering how passionate Howard was about the song and considering how he directed Jodi Benson to perform the song the way he wanted it, this has even more meaning. Howard was a talent taken too soon.

i dont mean to sound sappy, but howard lives on in the character called ariel. insane. insane how a character created 30+ years ago lives and breaths in peoples minds still... That my friend is utterly insane. think about it. A character that never dies. the ol girl is still around. i love seeing her when im out in stores. love the character ariel.

My mom use to say that even before I spoke my first word I could sing/hum the songs from TLM. Howard Ashman's songs have affected me even before I learned he had passed away before I was born. It's strange to think about a person whom I never have and never will get the change to meet has affected my life so much. He changes people's lives with his beautiful songs, Thank you

I remember seeing this in the theater and it was like the whole world stopped, it had that much of an impactful effect on me. The music & lyrics really is a moment in time. Howard was amazing.

Man, it's been over 30 years since the passing of the legendary Howard! If only he were here to see the final version of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, and the soon-to-be 30 Lion King, it would've been more magical to see his reactions to these three movies! Thank you for bringing these four movies(Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King) to life for millions of people around the world and many more generations to come! Thank you for bringing Ariel's voice to life, making Beauty and the Beast memorable, Aladdin a magical tale and funny at the same time, and also making The Lion King one of the BEST Disney movies the world has ever seen! (well I know Howard didn't work on The Lion King, but the four movies mentioned, especially The Lion King are what REALLY made them amazing)

Theme park parade performers, disney animators and song writers such as Howard Ashman who gave us Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Were not monsters, but living caring beings.

It's spooky, but as Jodi Benson has sang this song over and over through the years, remembering how Howard wanted it to sound, I think she's gotten closer and closer to Howard's intentions, even moreso than the 1989 version.

Did you know that Alan Menken made a mistake when composing this song? He wrote the end too close to Somewhere That's Green from Little Shop of Horrors. You can tell. "Out of the sea. Wish I could be. Part of that world." and "Far from Skid Row. I dream we'll go. Somewhere that's green." Just thought I'd share that fun fact.

I’m curious. Is he the only Disney staff member to die? I know that sounds like a morbid question, but it just popped into my brain.😅 also this wasn’t a memorial. What!? He hadn’t died yet at this time. His funeral was somewhere else without cameras.

If Howard Ashman casted Olivia Newton John to voice Ariel, Howard Ashman would have casted John Travolta to voice Prince Eric, because of the relationship and the bonding that John and Olivia had since they starred together in Grease.

I wish Howard Ashman casted Olivia Newton John to voice Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid because her role as Sandy from Grease and her role as Kira from Xanadu are similar to Ariel. Plus, Olivia Newton John’s voice sounds so more sweeter and smoother and able to get the Melody, rhythm, and harmony nailed whereas, when it comes to Jodi Benson’s voice, it sounded very intense, too stiff, and sings offpitch when it comes to the melody, rhythm, and harmony. Because of Olivia Newton John’s acting and singing roles that are like Ariel (like Sandy from Grease and Kira from Xanadu), she has a lot of acting and singing experience in film whenever it comes to roles like Ariel, whereas Jodi Benson was just new to acting back when she was offered the role of Ariel and she was typically an amateur. Therefore, Howard Ashman should have casted Olivia Newton John to play Ariel and make the melody, rhythm, and harmony of Part Of Your World in a Disco Pop style almost like Olivia Newton John’s Physical and Olivia Newton John’s Landslide. Therefore, it would have been appealing, lit, and awesome!
