I have made a video giving advice I've learnt on maintaining the guns and also how to fix certain misfiring issues and not firing at all. Hopefully this video can help some people out and save them money on sending their guns off, and giving life back to maybe an old gun.

Sir i have a new cfn-360xp I've olny shot 60/65 nails an put up for month or so.put new gas an new nails an now everything works but want fire.the battery is fully charge.i clean it but that didn't help.any advice would really thank you.best video yet.thank again

I’ve opened it up and looked at both the micro switches and the metal ‘band’ that pushes the top switch isn’t stuck in/on and it doesn’t seem to be broke/stuck in any way??

Finally someone who really knows there stuff. I have a im360ci and it’s showing a red light on the gas even tho the gas is full. Doesn’t happen all the time but enough to be very frustrating! So that would need a new antenna? Do you have a link?

Yes there is a small copper coil in the i series gas that registers against the antenna when you slot the gas in. If that helps.

George 350 pin not returning I have cleaned and siliconed the Reed valve still the same and I hear air escaping so now I’m thinking piston o rings it does fire no problem thanks tim

Hey mate, just double check your o rings are all in tact. The only other thing I can think of is the bumper inside the gun. If you look on a schematic of your gun you should see the bumper on the list. It’s just inside piston chamber. Also you don’t mean silicone the adhesive? You wouldn’t need to apply any adhesive to anything.

Yes silicon on the bottom flange on the body on the Reed valve it’s nearly on every Reed valve bottom flange ,ya I’ll try the bumper

Sounds like the switch isn’t being pressed which activates the spark. If you take the gun apart see if you can operate the two switches in the trigger assembly. It could be just a loose wire on the fan assembly not soldered in properly.

Hi my 36o stopped working couple days ago. It’s seem to be passing gas. Soon as I put more gas in the gas sprays out and eats a cylinder in no time. Looking at your video is it a easy fix or do I have to send in for repair. Iv only had it about a year. So hasn’t had much action. I serviced it thinking it might just need one but still the same. Happy new year. Cheers

To be honest if it’s only a year old, they have a 2 year warranty on them. You would be best off getting it repaired under warranty before opening it all up. Just to make life easier for you.

Hi George, I have the 350+ and it hasn’t had much use but every now and then when you shoot a nail it has a delayed noise from something being slower in the return. Sometimes will be a slight pop sound like an air lock? Just wandered if you have experienced this at all?

Hi yes, I have experienced something like that more commonly on the 350. I sometimes would have it if I was firing into something very dense. Could potentially be the reed valve needs a little clean from the build up of black carbon on it.

Could be the electro valve or the spark unit which is in the handle. It’s a little black rectangular piece. Hope that helps!

Hi George, My im360 head/probe has snapped off when I’ve dropped it. The metal pin is stuck in the probe do I just need to order a new knob assembly and put it back together? Unsure of how to removed the orange depth knob. Thanks

I think it should literally just unwind. Best bet is to look at the schematic that I linked in the description to get a better idea of the assembly.

Did you say the O-rings for the 350 and im360ci are the same? (im360 o rings seem hard to come by) so this would be brilliant news. is this both the top and bottom O-rings? also do you use genuine paslode orings or just generic ones?

Yes both 350 o rings should fit the 360 gun no problem. I have used them from my old 350 when I didn’t have any by me. I just buy mine from eBay they are branded as paslode so I can only assume they are genuine.

Hard to say but potentially just a good clean and just check the yellow/ red red tube where the gas goes in isn’t blocked with dirt?

It’s possibly the reed valve is dirty and has a build up of black carbon on it.

Where you talk about the striker missing the nail, and needing to screw it in, was that a rubber bung/bumper that slides in the cylinder, my im 350 90ct doesn't have that, just has piston rings, It's fires the nail first time everytime, but the piston doesn't return and gets stopped by the next nail that gets pushed up from the magazine. Question is, do they all have that rubber bumper on top of the piston, tha ks

Hi thanks for the message, from what I've seen they should all have a rubber bumper inside the piston. i would post a picture if i could. but if you look at the 350 schematics in my description(third link). i believe its part 49 on the chart 'the rubber bumper' if im understanding right. that is another part i know of if it isn't the reed valve it could potentially be. www.topgun.co.uk/schematics/IM350_OrangeNose.pdf its part 52 on this drawing. i believe that is the gun you have.

@@Georgous92 thanks so much for the reply,yeah that's the gun i have,ill order the bumper then cheers,the reed valve isn't bent or missing any fingers so i think that's fine. also do you know if part 89 fits on the outside of the combustion chamber or is it a gasket thats sandwiched in between the chamber parts. thanks again

@@patchedupdemon7104 you're welcome mate, i think the parts only about £9 so its definitely worth a shot! if I've understood your question right, part 89 is a piece of rubber that just overlays on top of the combustion chamber. hope this has been helpful to you! good luck!

I cant get any response from my paslode finish nailer no fan no nothing except a blinking green light (blinks like 4 times maybe). It’s the older style with the orange cap on the butane compartment not the black cap. Any thoughts ? Doesn’t matter if I depress it or pull the trigger, no response

If you open the gun up there is like a little black piece of plastic on a spring which pushes a switch when you press the gun down that could possibly have snapped either that or The button is damaged on the trigger.

Do you have any idea what can cause the firing pin on the 350+ not to go all the way back in. I have two guns which have been back to different paslode service centres and they work for about 10 strips of nails [until the gun starts to warm up] then starts misfiring because the pin does not go back totally ,its only about 20 mm less than it should but enough to stop the nails moving up hence timber marked but no nails fired. Both guns have had a lot of use and usually if you enquire about this problem its blamed on the gun needing cleaning but in this instance that can't be the problem. I know of several other joiners who have experienced this problem and have ended up getting a new gun. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked out 15.09 on the video. it should genrally be the reed valve with that issue. if not it could be the rubber bumper. hope that might help!

yes when you press the fan leaver first then press the trigger switch it should spark. check the spark unit is clean. if its dirty it may not spark. check the cable on the back where the fan is isn't loose

Hi matey. I've got an older 350 after I cleaned it and changed the o ring it now makes a whiney buzzing noise when pushing down and doesnt fire. Have you any suggestions before I hand it in for repair. Thanks.

Just double check your fan blades. Could possibly be bent slightly that’s why it’s making the whiny noise. As for it not firing it sounds like it’s not sparking. Just check the wiring on the spark unit and there’s a little actuator switch inside the gun which hits the sparking switch when depressed. Just check the arm hasn’t snapped and it’s hitting the switch.

George, my ppn gun has the fan running constantly as soon as I connect the battery. I noticed the small black cable needs soldering on but connecting that by pushing it in makes no difference. Any ideas what else it could be?

Potentially the switch is constantly engaged which doesn’t turn the fan off. Open it up and check the micro switches.

The earth cable on the fan was also loose which you’ve mentioned in the video. The little black cable. Would that potentially be making it not fire and keeping the fan constantly on?

My IM360Ci started playing up today and it won’t fire at all, there’s a solid red light on the side and as I’m about to fire you can just barely hear the fan at first as though it briefly started but it will not fire at all, any idea on what this could be? I’m a Plumber and use the nail gun for pattress’ so i’m not 100% sure in the ins and outs of the nail gun, so apologies if I’m asking a simple question, thanks.

Hi dude, when was it last serviced? could need a good clean for the simple option. try holding down the start button for around 60 seconds and see if that makes it work. if not try taking the battery in and out again after that. if not i have a feeling it might be the black box in the trigger assembly. www.topgun.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=9_194&product_id=1579 there are two types of those black boxes parts one is black and one is red. if you have to open the gun it should say on it when type it is. im hoping this might help you out! hope its the simple reset button!

It’s potentially the trigger switch. If you look at 12.34 in the video. I had this issue and it was the trigger not always engaging. Normally a good place to start. Hope that helps

Potentially the date on the gas could be something to do with it. But if you’re using anything but paslode gas it could have a different mix of propane and butane which could cause it. Also the temperatures dropping now so that could be part of it too.

my IM90CI piston doesnt go all the way back. ive dismanted the gun fully for a deep cleen and relubrication. tried to twist the piston as shown but it was not unwinded on the treads. reed valve is not damaged. nor is the seal under the reed valve house (ive replaced this) however i was told to take a look at the bumber inside the champer (rubber piece) how do i get this out? and would this even help to change it? gun been shot 7000 times (had a device read on it) -all new paslode bluecap gas and original nails is beeing used. any ideas?

Hey Daniel, sounds like you’ve done a lot of troubleshooting. I’m assuming if you’ve deep cleaned the gun the reed valves are free from the black carbon on them. Yes it’s not a bad shout the bumper, I personally have never had to replace the bumper on one before. I looked at trying to do that on an im65 the other day but I’ve yet to figure it out. Have a look at the schematics I’ve linked in the description as they may give you a better idea of it’s assembly. Just double check the two rubber o rings for any knicks in them and sufficient lubrication on them. The only thing I can suggest is if you have a spare gun or can borrow one. Try swapping the front section of the combustion chamber over to see if that works. May give you an idea. Hope this helps? Let me know how you get on.

It's well lubricated everything glides verry vell. Thx for the reply. Ye i looked at this bumber from expand-tec drawing. I belive it's just pushed into place. On im90ci there is a pin hole under the nose part that's not threaded, i belive this is used to push the bumper out. I haven't tried tho.

No spark can be due to the trigger switch not being activated. Check that first

Hi mate i have a im 90 that ive jut fully stripped and cleaned although i didnt change the rubber orings just yet it fires evertime time but odd time it fires 2 nails at once any ideas ? Also i havr a im65 f16 also fully stripped cleaned shoots everytime but sometimes doesnt sink the brads in fully and leaves a dint just above the brad that it leaves out also

Usually fires 2 nails if you’re using clipped head nails. Not the ones for a Im360/im90 usually. It’s normally where it’s the end of strip and start of a new strip. Im afraid I’m out of ideas if the gun is clean. I can only think maybe it’s the reed valve with a build up of carbon on it? That’s my best guess

@@Georgous92 thanks mate sorted that priblem now it has a fault were the gas leaks in short fast blips when battery is inserted and used the gas cartridge up quickly it is coming out in the cylinder but it keeps letting it out without pressing anythings like psh pshh pshh pshh pshh lol any ideas

It’s probably a build up of carbon on the reed valve it needs all the black to be cleaned off that should help. Either that or a new electro valve. Cleaning the reed valve is cheaper to try.

Hi today my ppn didn't work red light is flashing but no other lights on battery is charged and gas is full and in date, I've taken paslodes apart plenty of times and found replacing parts quite easy now, the problem I have is nowing which part is faulty

Does it flash red as soon as you put the battery in? or is it when you depress the nose and pull the trigger? The first simple option which is free is trying holding down the start button for about 60 seconds then try taking the battery out and in again. if that doesn't work. i have a feeling its the black box behind the trigger assembly. there are two types of those black boxes parts one is black and one is red. if you have to open the gun it should say on it when type it is. If you have the IM360ci you could try robbing the part from that to test it. best place for parts ive found is eBay

Thanks for getting back George i think its sorted , I was using it in the rain on Monday must have got damp, I put it by the kick space heater in the kitchen and after a couple of hours the lights came back on so I tried it and happy days its working.

Normally you hold down the star button for 30 seconds to reset. But if it’s flashing red it can be a sign of a loose wire. Check the one to the antenna or electro valve. Also check the wire to the back of the fan it might need re soldering

Can anyone help? I took the gun apart to clean it because it was so dirty (I just bought it used). When I put it back, the tip of the gun won't move up & down when I press it. What did I do wrong?

@@Georgous92 I have 900-420 & 404-400. The 900-420 is the one that the nose would not move up & down (move very little). I know I put it back correctly. The 404-400 nose is more simple with just 2 parts. Can I switch the nose between these 2 models? The 404-400 is not firing. When I removed the plastic handle apart into 2 pieces (like you did at 11:25), I pressed the switch, the fan is on & working. But when I put the plastic cover back, it does not work. I did not try your method yet (by adding plastic to the switch or cutting 1/2 of the plastic out as you explain in your video). Do I have to replace that part (what do you call it)? It does not make sense to me, it does not work when I put the handle cover back together.

@@Georgous92 I put the simple nose of 404-400 on the 900-420. Everything seems to be working fine but it won't shoot the nail. It works fine before I cleaned it. Now it won't shoot just like the 404-400.

Any ideas on my 360 just tried a new piston still doing it. Piston gets stuck fully out to push back with screwdriver of take magazine off every time. Thought it was bent piston but still happening with new one. Thanks

It’s practically the same if that is the problem. If it is the issue. Get some thread lock on it to stop it coming loose again.

My PPN gun nose always sheers off. Any advice ?

Do you mean the nose has fallen off like come apart? So the locating pin doesn’t work?

@@Georgous92 the nose completely sheers off at the point where you adjust the depth. The whole part with locating pin. Have you ever had this happen? I think it may perhaps be overuse what do you think?

@@Georgous92 yes that’s it the front probe! Really annoying. Must be from overuse as a lot of our jobs at the minute are with steels so lots of moist hangers needed. Has happened 3 times to 2 different guns in a fairly short amount of time so wondered if it had ever happened to you and any tips to prevent it.
