There should be a donate button here somewhere... we accidentally hit that button and locked the trunk. We didn't panic because we knew we could jump online and would find that someone else has had this problem. We found this video 👍you are the man. Thank you very much.
The lock button in the glove box was exactly the fix that solved the unlockable trunk problem. I'd called both the dealer and my repair shop and neither one was familiar with the problem of neither the fobs nor the release on the door working. At least they couldn't give me an answer right off the tops of their heads, I was going to have to schedule a service appointment. Mega thanks Jay!
Great thanks! Told my wife when she asked how I fixed it that I merely incresed the torque on the iconic converter thus limiting the reverb, but I had to go to Home Depot to buy a new 136 piece Craftsman tool set with rolling storage cart.....she's happy is all that matters!

My friend’s car was in auto service and no idea who hit that button and he had something in his car trunk and needed so bad but for some reason he couldn’t open it… I was trying to open it from backseat but couldn’t do that and looked for another video… it was yours. I check that button and it was on 🤦♂️ just turned it off and viola! Thank you so much! You’re the man 💪🏻

For someone like me. Used Passat, no owner's manual, and no history with a self opening trunk. I just assumed the trunk icon on the fob unlocked. Turns out I just need to hold it for a second. Thanks for posting, it motivated me to take a harder look at the process, thus figured it out.

My nephew 2years of age was playing around in my car and turn the switch off unbeknownst to me.. No clue that shyt was ever there to begin with til watching this and I've been an owner for 7yrs good shyt man!

Unreal, I have been messing on and off with the trunk opening issue for months. I didn't take it to the dealer as I didn't want to pay over 100 for the 'repair'. Thanks to your video, I checked and sure enough the glove box button had been pushed. I pushed the button again and the trunk now OPENS! Thanks so much ! Jeff
Wow am I thankful for this video! My trunk wouldn’t open and the stroller was stuck in there. Thought it was a wiring issue because we had a mouse get into our car that caused other problems. And figured it would be weeks til we got it repaired. What a relief to find that lil button had accidentally got pressed, and that was an easy fix!!!!! Thanks so much!

Just got my oil changed, and I had gotten in the glove box to check the manual to be sure I was getting the right oil. When they were done my trunk would not open. My back seats were folded down to accommodate my bicycle so I went to Lowes and bought a 6 foot piece of 1x2 to use to push the emergency latch release on the inside of the trunk. That worked, and I thought "great, at least I can open it from the inside with this stick". Then I thought of asking the internet for a solution, and I learned from this video about the button to use "in case of the Zombie Apocalypse".. Thank you so much. Like many others you've helped me, too.
I just had this problem - had no idea what happened. Found out how to access the trunk from the backseat but kept looking at videos until I found this one! Realized I accidentally did this and was finally able to open my trunk the normal way! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge - it is so very much appreciated! 🎉

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! I accidentally pressed that button and disabled the trunk access and was SO confused and frustrated why it wasn’t opening, and getting pissed there wasn’t a way to access it through the seats. They should have a way to put down the seats without needing trunk access! But I digress... YOURE A LIFE SAVER!!!!!
As my passat stalled with a pack of zombies on my tail we had given up all hope. One last chance effort was youtube, Boom saw this video. I had hit this button jamming shit in glove box. In one swift motion I hit this button, swung around and as I opened car door popped the trunk and at the last second possible grabbed my loaded M249 Saw machine gun and cut them down, some in half. Blood and guts everywhere but we were saved. Because of you and this excellent video. Literally was on the way to the dealership. saved me time and money. My family thanks you (for their pathetic lives)!! :)

OMG!!! THANK YOU.. out of the blue I could not open the trunk...I was even at a VW dealer today for service and the flunkies could not help unless I scheduled an appointment with a $$$$$ tech. After your video I remembered I was in the glove box yesterday and some 'stuff' would let it close so I figured I accidentally pushed the 'trunk lock", 'sure enough I did...thanks again

I did not want to go to the dealer - he probable would not have told me about the button and charged me $800.00 or some other shady thing. You are AWESOME! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
Wow! Thank you for this video. I couldn't figure this one out until I saw your video. It's exactly what happened. I had overstuffed the glove box and the button got depressed. (Now I just have to figure out where else I can store my jumper cables in case my battery dies.)

Haha I had to get a tire changed today and the mechanics had no idea why my trunk wasn’t opening. I thought that they broke something but it turns out that this was the solution. Thanks for the help! 😂

Omg I drove for a month after getting my tires rotated not being able to open the trunk. They said they never went in the trunk but of course they went into the glove compartment for the tire bolt key and must have hit that button! Thank you! Actually they turned off my tire pressure light too that's right there.

Disable Trunk is a Terrible Feature. Thanks for the info! We came home from Costco with $400 worth of perishables in the trunk. I was about to tear out the back seat when I found your vid.
