Congrats , looking to take the SPCOR and SPRI by May of 2023 myself. Studying like hell and doing labs with Eve-NG. Hopefully I don't get the nerves again it took me a couple of attempts for my CCNP test. Good that my company covers the test.
You Rock, Rob... This video motivated me to continue studying for my CCNP-ENCOR. Plan is to take it before my CCNA expires at the end of the year. Continue to RyseNShyne! 🌞
Congratulations for passing this exam, I took it earlier in the year and boy the segment routing and rpl gave me a problem, will definitely attempt again next year🙏
Lol I almost fell asleep today learning Wireless decibels to milliwatts conversion and RF and SNR, I also feel your pain, I took CCNA exam with the flu and it was the worst EXP ever everything was extra harder because my brain had to work more. Congrats on re-certifying !!
Congrats man! I have taken a few exams via Pearson vue. Still don't like it. Was during peak covid so made it convenient. I also like to murmur the questions to myself or learn into the screen. And only once has the proctor not blow me up about it. Working for an ISP but debating ccnp-sp or ccnp-ent from my ccna.
Awesome video man, watched the whole thing with ease. Thanks for the comments on your proctored virtual exam experience. That does not sound good to me. So I'll definitely hit my local spot. I have watched videos from you off and on for so many years now. We are about in the same boat I believe. We're nearing the end of our career and just not wanting to be looking at this screen as much. I have picked up hobbies I gave up for career and family for years and enjoying that more frequently now. I saw this video about the exam and actually liked it more once you said it was virtual and that is enough to keep me going to my normal place. I glanced (not thoroughly) into looking for the CEs you mentioned. Do you have a list you could share? I will continue to look but it'd be nice to have a list of free CEs from Cisco. **Edit***Sorry...congrats on passing and not pissing! :D
I JUST took a cisco exam last week and i have another one this week. I had the exact same experience! Background task running i had no idea about, internet wasn’t passing the test, etc. Extremely aggrevating right before a test. I think I’m with you - going to a testing center for the remainder of my exams.
Yes.......ALWAYS...go to a testing center......DO NOT do it at home.......as there are always stupid issues.......at the test place if a machine is having an issue they have 10 more.....
Congratulation Rob! Interesting video regarding your experience. Can you point me to the recommended resources that you recommend? The CCIE Bundle and the Cisco Press book which is another one? Sorry the explanation got alittle confusing for me. Thanks💪
Dude, I was in the Army. I completely understand your pain when you gotta really really pee. There were times when we had a piss test that I didn't have to go pee at first. I drank a ton of water at the back of the line and was almost crawling to the bathroom when it was turn. Leadership always wakes you up at 3-4am and the fist couple of times, I would go pee. It only took a couple of times for me learn my lesson to no pee when I get woken up until I know there isn't a piss test.
Hi Rob, I have the exam CCIE SP, but it expire soon, I want to know if I need two exam to recertificed for example SPCOR and any Concentration exam? or it enough with only SPCOR Exam. Thanks
Congratulations Rob! Long time sub of your videos. I have a cert issue that maybe you can help me with. I have been a long term Cisco datacenter engineer focused more on ACI. I currently passed that exam with no studies, so I’m pretty confident in my knowledge there (though I can do a whole lot better if I study more). However, I really don’t like the DCCOR as it focuses on so much technology that I just don’t use (only UCS servers but not UCSM or FIs). What would you consider a better alternative that can be lab’d at home, ENCOR, or SPCOR?
@@RobRikerTechChannel Thanks for that answer. Thats intersting opinion on ENCOR. I also know Nick R. That dude is freaking smart man! Would you say that SPCOR will give you just as much knowledge if not more routing experience than ENCOR? I almost felt that SD-WAN should have been in Service Provider but its in Enterprise. Shame as that is one major technology on the come up!
Hi rob. I still have a subscription to the learning network store course for this. Are you familiar with those courses? Would they cover 90%+ of what you need to know for the exam? If anyone can answer from experience i would greatly appreciate
Hi Rob, nice vid! Question: Does the SPCOR exam already have virtual labs for configuration? or is it still based on questions, drag and drop and multiple choice? I asked because I heard they were moking changes to the SPCOR exam to have virtual labs like we used to have in the CCNP Routing and Switching exams before.
so weird. I have taken 4 onVue exams at this point, not once have I spoke to a proctor or had to spin the camera. I think it may be that I take them in a "privacy room" at work where there is nothing on the walls. Just 4 walls a chair and a small table with my laptop on it.
Hi Rob. I feel it is a very popular question in your channel. but could you please tell us on what system hardware you are working on right now. Like the processor/ram of if you are using a server for the lab ? Because working with a 12 thread or 16 thread processor won't make these DC labs happen i guess. Please make a video or comment me here if possible. Thanks
@@RobRikerTechChannel Thats great specs. Show the video where you guide us through how to choose the server and the things we need to keep in mind before considering to buy. That was really helpful. Here in India the shipping cost is wat too high from ebay. I have to look for some alternatives. Congratulations for passing the Exam. Keep inspiring the community and great work by you. Thanks
Rob, I see lots of people going the cloud path right after their CCNA, and I see lots of people recommending that path over Network Engineering. The salary estimates on Indeed or Glassdoor seem to tell you that you can make way more and way faster than by taking the Network Engineering path. You are a CCIE, and you are well-respected in the industry. When you were starting, the cloud was probably not as developed as it is now. If you were to start your career now, knowing what you know, what path would you pick to maximize your earnings and your lifestyle? Can you actually get to those high numbers in Network Engineering? Thank you.
It's true, 10 years ago, AWS was a thing but not as wide spread or common. It is true though, you can get your CCNA and transition to cloud from there. It's the path I am currently working with my 14 year old son on, since I know how the markets work. The reality is, however, there is still always going to be on-premises requirements. When you have hospitals, call centers and other situations that require network engineering folks, cloud isn't going to help you there. Most CCNAs new to IT, won't be able to see the network needs the same way a CCNP or CCIE will or have the foresight to engineer the network to account for growth/scale. I think I'll do a video on this, good question for it.
@@RobRikerTechChannel Once you're good enough at Network Engineering, what rare technologies or skills would you combine your knowledge with to stand out in the marketplace and, say, get over that $200k salary barrier? What do you see employers wanting, but 95% of Network Engineers lack proficiency at?
Do you like networking? Go networking. Do you like cloud? Go cloud… Sounds simple but that’s the truth at the end of the day. There are senior engineers and architects at my company who never passed a cert but make 200k. If you chase for money alone you eventually won’t succeed in your salary because in order to get that kind of money in the first place you have to be GOOD at what you do, and that comes with loving the tech
