I have one at the post office as we speak…but it’s raining cats and dogs (perfect weather for a flanger). Verlie and PastFX seem like excellent people and a great little company to support in Brisvegas, Aus. Also, they’re developing a new and improved version of the Maxon PH-350 and AD-900!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love a bit of Flange! Yes, the earlier EMs are 18 volters. Andy Summers, you know, the bloke out of the Police 😉, used an EM that was modified by Pete Cornish. Flangers are great for chorus and Robbie Robot sounds. Everyone should have one even if they don’t like them.
I own the original EH electric mistress in mint condition as well as the big muff and the clone theory all in mint condition. They are my highly coveted pedals! The clone theory has an electric cord. Beautiful job as expected king Dr. Dave!!!💪🎸
Awesome 👌 review Dave, great playing as usual. Have been thinking about grabbing this pedal for awhile, but unsure, now I just want to get it. Thanks again for demonstrating my beautiful Fiesta Red Oswald recently. Hope all is well in.your world 🌎 mate
Past-fx guy is the best. Always super helpful and makes really dope pedals - cool guy too. I think i have bought all the different versions of the ce-1 he does. I also have the preamp thing. I havent tried much else cause im going to a full midi rig for now, but if you are into analog vibes - like i was back in the days - go full on.
Hey Dave. I have the Marshall Jackhammer, BOSS DS-2,VOX wah pedal 847a and a Laney Cub12r. Do you think I would get closer to the Frusciante Tone with the Boss Katana instead of the laney? And also do you think I need anything besides those pedals in this setup( something like the golden plexi or a guv nor). You are amazing as always and thank you!
In all seriousness, can you make some kind of RU-vid or Spotify playlist with all or a bunch of your intro jams? I always enjoy them, but there are a decent amount, like this one, that are just next level that I would (and sometimes do) listen to regularly. Would be so cool to just be able to hit play and and let ‘em roll.
For decades I've used a Boss Bass Flanger for guitar and like it so much better than my old Boss Flanger for guitar...it seems to mellow out the high end swoosh and thicken the low end up...great paired with my Dimension C pedal if I want lush chords....don't use it often but it is an option. Flanger is one of my favorite Bass pedals but I found it's awesome with guitar as well
wow id love to get hold of some past fx pedals. IF the makers are reading - and you want them instock at a small but growing guitar store hit me up haha
Not the biggest flang fan, but it did have a bit of a Metallica vibe to it. "Nothing Else Matters" to be exact. Plus I hear with fuzz 1st then a flang or maybe it's a phase, you get that "jet" sound.
@@mfalkon totally agree. I use the board with the Zoom multi stomp more than I use my big board with Strymon pedals. It’s so convenient to be able to go through 2 or 3 presets on the Zoom. Plus it eliminates the need for a tuner pedal.
@@MrSpeed-lt8gr Same for me. I have a small board with a couple of drives and my zoom multistomp at the end with presets for chorus, delay, etc and it's my tuner. I even have a Fender and Marshall amp sim preset set up on it if I want to go ampless, but I don't use it that way usually. Like you, I also use it more these days than my big board with all my fancy stuff!
I would absolutely buy an ambiant album by you. Just compile all ambient intros and put Them on a Cd:)))) love IT. Maybe throws some of cici's work in there too. (Vox escort)❤️❤️❤️
I miss my old ( very early ) Electric Mistress. No other flanger quite does "the thing". Not a vintage gear snob by any means, but they are special... or at least my one was. I know they varied from one to the next.
I always liker flangers, takes me back to Zappa and Billy Thorpe. That one sounds as if it can be tamed, the ones I have are either not enough or way too much.....
Great video Dave! Recording sounds great. Which boss katana setting you use to record DI? Rec, live or blend? or you send your katana signal to an external interface? Thanks
@@thedavesimpson I think the default option is "Rec". But check the "Live" and "Blend" settings, they try to emulate a room mic kind of vibe, I know you like recordings via room mic :D Katana does it again! Cheers Dave
If you're looking for the Electric Mistress flanger sound, the get the Retro-sonic Flanger. I have the Retro-sonic and the V3 Elastic Mattress and the Retro-sonic is much better sounding. Side by side, the Elastic Mattress is thin, overly bright and brittle
I sold the Retro-Sonic and kept the Mattress V2. It does cut a lot of low-end but in my rig it kinda works better overall. They're both nice and the Retro-Sonic has his own strong points but i had and still have way too many flangers and there's no point in keeping all of them.
