My dad was “old” but still working part time at 85 because he loved his job. He was a trainer in the dental lab business and was an expert as his craft. He was mentally sharp right until he went to be with the Lord last Dec. 17.

Let me share what I feel to be a fair assessment of last night's debate. I shared my thoughts elsewhere, but I'll share them here as well. It might be good for discussion: (After watching the first half): As someone who doesn't follow politics at all, I'm watching the debate from last night. I'm about halfway through and what I've noticed is that both men had some good points, both had some problems. President Trump, by my count, has completely ignored two questions and gone off on tangents. President Biden has, multiple times, shot personal insults at President Trump, which is extremely unbecoming. I can't verify everything being said, and I'm not entirely sure exactly what some of the incidents they're referring to are. I want to give the edge to President Trump because he seems to be providing more solid data than President Biden, but he's also ignored two of the questions (how he would deport the immigrants; if he would support an independent Palestine) and he almost ignored a third, which I was grateful to the moderator for repeating, if President Putin's peace terms were agreeable. President Biden did stutter quite a bit, but he seemed sharp and conscientious of the points he's making, he just doesn't seem to be able to communicate as well as President Trump. That said, so far this debate is better than the previous election's. I just hope they'll stay on topic and avoid ad hominem argumentation going forward. Let's see. As an aside, I most likely won't be voting this year. I had planned to vote Independent, but there don't seem to be any solid Independent candidates this year. We'll see. 🫤 (After finishing the second half): Okay, I finished the debate, here are my thoughts on the second half: First, what stood out to me immediately was that President Biden contradicted himself on the economy. He said early in the debate that he doesn't know anyone who thinks we have the strongest economy. He says in the second half that we have the "fastest growing" and "most successful" economy in the world. 🤔 Sadly, President Trump ignored THREE more questions! He didn't answer the question about rising child care costs at all; on climate change he was asked if he would take any action to ease the climate crisis and he briefly said he had the cleanest water/air under his administration, but gave no specifics and didn't answer what actions he would take going forward; when asked about the opioid crisis, he immediately went on about drugs coming across our border, but did not address the drugs manufacturered here in the States or the addiction/overdose problem itself. To be fair, President Biden's response was strictly related to reducing drugs coming over our borders, as well. The reason this is unfortunate is that, in a debate, if you don't answer the question, you concede the point your opponent makes. President Trump flat out ignored four questions and gave unsatisfactory answers to two of them, whereas President Biden at least directly addressed the questions he was asked. On that note, President Trump repeatedly brought the conversation back to immigration, which wasn't relevant to the question at hand most of the time, but it was clearly a strategic move, not a default to not having an answer. Unfortunately, he didn't provide any solution to the problem, even when asked. President Biden's responses to the immigration crisis also left much to be desired. President Biden also, sadly, used profanity four times by my count (3 d*mns and 1 h*ll - Trump also said 'hell' once, but not in a profane way). This is extremely unbecoming of a President. He continued his ad hominem attacks and unfortunately President Trump decided to do the same numerous times. President Biden's response to his cognitive abilities was lacking, it would have been good if he had offered to take a test, as President Trump had. I liked President Biden's plan to increase personal taxes on the wealthy, as they're paying less into Social Security. However, I don't keep up with economics, so I can't speak to the truth of that. President Trump's points on foreign policy were strong and his economic position seemed stronger than President Biden's. All in all, this debate was much better than the ones I've seen in the past, but I think more clarity is needed. The moderators did a great job, in my opinion.

Still vote! Noone said Trump was perfect and I certainly don't worship him! So you shouldn't deride ppl for following their consciences and voting for the one we think would be better for our country!

I mean, you mention Edwards, but he would’ve put abortion - well known and commonly practiced in Puritan Old and New England which carried neither legal nor ecclesiastical punishment - as “inadvisable, but permissible up to a certain point”. Frankly, from what I can tell, the idea of “human at conception” is traditionally a Catholic notion which the very men you claim to emulate didn’t think was worth carrying over into their New Jerusalem.

2 bad 2 good. I think Jeff is wrong on 2 major theological issues [calvinism / post millennialism] but I admire Jeff’s stance and work on abortion and his public stance about Trump and political idolatry.
