Jon Gruden says hurtful things in private emails and is over? Confusing. Goodell is just offended by what gruden said about him.

I definitely appreciate all of this. Pat is right, I don't want to hear him talk about real world stuff as he called it. We can't live in the negative 24 hours a day, we need to have some fun. Pat's show is the fun time. But since he needed to talk about it, I appreciate how they handled it. It's not screaming and rage, it's conversation. Conversation is how things get resolved. Rage doesn't solve anything.

I get what Pat's saying. But private emails are private emails. He wasn't grabbing or groping anyone. He wasn't calling anyone anything to their face, he wasn't mistreating anyone. This is really a dangerous thing and we are getting pretty close to the thought crimes cited in 1984.

Every single person in the world has done or said something that would offend someone or some group. It seems like only Conservatives get "cancelled" for it.

I like how Jon Gruden gets HUGE backlash for heated emails, BUT we have players on ALL teams that have been charged with Assault, DUI, Drugs, Running people over with cars, Dog fighting, etc. So someone that has a "private" convo loses his job, but it is okay to have a bunch of criminals on the field. Appreciate Pat Mcafee’s honesty, but kind of a one sided answer on this topic. Speaking only of condemnation. Two things can be true at once, I can definitively say that what Gruden communicated in his emails is bad, and lacks some serious self awareness. But also really hate this nationwide effort that occurs everytime there is some kind of controversy, the hawks come out and everyone piles on. The real question is, do I really want to be in a society where private emails are no longer private, but not only that are able to be judged 10- 4 years later and have my career destroyed for them? Do I want to live in a society that see’s comments as somehow worse then actual criminal charges, which many players in the NFL have, or have had and are largely excused, happening as recently as this past year? (Richard Sherman, Antonio Brown) Lastly do I want to live in a society where we are quick to forgive felons in general in our society as misunderstood in most cases, yet issue lifetime bans over mere comments? I personally would like to find humility for everyone as we are all flawed, and could all pursue better and deserve that chance after paying for our mistakes. Actions are supposed to speak louder then words… seems not be the case more and more these days.

I don't think it is just a coach thing. The NFL has a history of being homophobic in the locker room also. Players in the past have been homophobic. But if we are gonna be at the same standard. Should the NFL be shut down for having a history of homophobia from Players and Coaches?

Anyone who has ever watched a NFL football game from close to the field knows that athletes use this very language and worse every single game. Was his language offensive, yes, but is being offended the crime of the century? Opinions are just that, who cares. Rodger's sat there carefully crafted his words as if he were running for public office. He mentioned the love in his locker room but failed to mention the conversations about the opponents and the beautiful language used when discussing them.

I agree with Pat, and he's got a good point. Thoughts DO become actions and we need to "evolve" as Rogers puts it, even in the locker room and how the "boys" or "men" talk. BUT, if that's the case, I'm also going to need the same energy Pat has here for Gruden on the OTHER domestic and criminal offenses players have done that are STILL in the league! For instance, A.B., Incognito, Sherman, Mingo, Tyreek Hill, and Watson to name a few. If literal insensitive acts, racism, and other criminal actions committed by these players is the result of their thoughts and beliefs then these players should resign as well since their thoughts, beliefs, and actions clearly don't have a place in the NFL, like both Rogers and Pat are saying. If we're going to "crucify" Gruden for comments in private, let's be fair all around and stand for EQUALITY like the NFL is preaching and do it for everyone, ESPECIALLY those actually committing criminal acts. Better yet, why don't we just have an investigation or audit of ALL the NFL starting with Roger Goodell first for the past 10 years. I'm sure that would be interesting...

Good conversation. I live in south Africa I Uber everywhere for the express reason that I get to talk with a complete stranger every time. I get to know people from different countries in Africa, about their opinions, their lives, their goals their struggles etc and I am richer as a human being for each interaction.

Two things bother me simultaneously. 1. Cancel Culture & all this fake outrage and grandstanding. It’s a distraction. Something else is going on. This is the tip of the iceberg. Why Gruden? 2. Leaders like Gruden & Meyer not being authentic or genuinely exceptional. How many “leaders” are held up but are actually facades? I think guys like Dungy & Coughlin deserve more praise for their characters.

Being caught saying things that could reveal you have wrong opinions can ruin your life. Always pay attention to what the prevailing right opinions are and give lip service to them because your personal safety and your economic survival may depend on it. If you have wrong opinions, be sure to keep them to yourself. Also be sure to never defend anyone caught having a wrong opinion. That would make you the next target. Society will improve much faster when people learn to stop talking frankly with each other.

I really appreciate the way McAfee talks about this issue. He's very charitable, teachable, and reasonable. I'm glad he typically steers clear of the mob language. The way he opened was very personal and gracious. Love it.
